Horrible story, must have been very distressing to have heard that going on. Was a young gothy gamer couple:

The brunette was rushed to hospital but died later.

WTF? That's terrible fucking writing, and actually quite offensive in its clumsiness.

emil.y, Tuesday, 19 February 2013 13:53 (thirteen years ago)

God yes I saw that, wtf

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Tuesday, 19 February 2013 13:55 (thirteen years ago)

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Tuesday, 19 February 2013 14:06 (thirteen years ago)

Aw man, they were ace. I think I got a little over-excited when they pulled out the Mute Synth, though. ^__^

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Tuesday, 19 February 2013 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, the circuit-boardy thing! I did take a few photos, but, uh, I've got about 6 months worth of photos to stick up on flickr/facebook, so it might take a while...

emil.y, Tuesday, 19 February 2013 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

I love my MuteSynth.

Troughton-masked Replicant (aldo), Tuesday, 19 February 2013 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

I am very tempted by Bexhill, but will see how the finances are in April.

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 19 February 2013 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

Ben UFO and Paul Woolford tonight if any fancies making me just the weird old man in the club, rather than the alone weird old man in the club.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 22 February 2013 09:20 (thirteen years ago)

i do kind of fancy that but i've got a whole bunch of stuff to do tomorrow that i need to be semi-alive for. also i just realised that i never did get back to you about simon munnery, so i have been extremely lame, sorry matt

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Friday, 22 February 2013 09:35 (thirteen years ago)

otoh i did go and get a swans ticket in the end and probably up for pub quiz thing this week too if that is still happening (?), so not a total washout here

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Friday, 22 February 2013 09:39 (thirteen years ago)

Swans FAP yEAh!!

dog latin, Friday, 22 February 2013 09:41 (thirteen years ago)

In the end I had a massive deadline (joys of freelancing workflow) so couldn’t make Simon Munnery anyway.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 22 February 2013 09:42 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i'm up for swans fap, nothing like the music of michael gira for bringing folk together

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Friday, 22 February 2013 09:49 (thirteen years ago)

the missus and i will be down for maybe a couple of days, so cool.

dog latin, Friday, 22 February 2013 09:50 (thirteen years ago)

i can't do ben ufo tonight, godspeed chewshabadoo

jabba hands, Friday, 22 February 2013 11:13 (thirteen years ago)

Cheers. Is anyone going to Reich, yay, doing Radiohead, hmm.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 22 February 2013 14:26 (thirteen years ago)

Reich doing Radiohead, WTF????

pub quiz thing this week too if that is still happening - Yes! It is! You actually reminded me, there. Not having to do all the work this month meant I'd kind of forgotten about it. Hopefully we'll be back to having a good number of teams again this month.

Swans FAP will be good, but please don't let me destroy myself by Fisu too much, as it's my new band's debut gig the next night, so I have to be at least a little sentient.

Someone's built a stone circle built out of fly-tipped hardcore just up the Ditchling Road from me, hard to get a decent picture cos it's quite a flat feature, but it was nice to stumble upon it out in the murk with the dogs today. Feels like a good spot for it, sits right where lines drawn north-south from Ditchling Beacon to Hollingbury Castle and east-west from the Amex Stadium to Asda bisect. Good place to sit and look at the shredded plastic bags blowing around on the hawthorns, see the crows having a go at the dead fox by the main road, that sort of thing.

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Sunday, 24 February 2013 00:12 (thirteen years ago)

Haha, wow.

It's quite a big circle! Just for scale, here's Badger sitting by the central cairn (he always kind of looks like he's pondering the cosmos btw, but I think he was genuinely feeling the vibe here)

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Sunday, 24 February 2013 01:15 (thirteen years ago)

I am not really a fan of dogs, but Badger looks like a Good Dog.

emil.y, Sunday, 24 February 2013 01:51 (thirteen years ago)

It's true, he's a good sort (when he's not digging up the *#~£$! garden)

Team NickB is a man down for tomorrow, putting in a distress call here for Matt, you gots to help me boy...

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Monday, 25 February 2013 17:48 (thirteen years ago)

I had a heavy weekend to say the least, but will hopefully be rested enough for tomorrow, may have a couple of friends coming too who could help on the indie side of things.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 25 February 2013 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, dooo it!

emil.y, Monday, 25 February 2013 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

(Oh, I've been informed by the landlord that the chef has left, so sadly no bargain burgers anymore.)

emil.y, Monday, 25 February 2013 18:34 (thirteen years ago)

xxp
how was life on friday night?

jabba hands, Monday, 25 February 2013 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

Music was very good as I expected, crowd was very student meat market though, I could have been the dad for almost everyone there, eek! I’m used to small crowds of heads aged late twenties and older normally. Too much crowding and people just walking through the dancefloor to really lose myself in the music until about 3 or so. Ended up going up to London on Saturday night to erase the bad memories!

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 25 February 2013 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, that's been my experience pretty much every time i've been down to one of those clubs, even for ppl you wdn't expect to draw that sort of crowd, e.g. theo parrish. good house/techno nights in brighton do seem in fairly short supply, unless i'm just totally out of the loop (fairly likely tbh). i've been to some good things at the green door store and there's this new 10 below place opening on ship street that looks like it might have some decent stuff on.

has anyone been to any of the go bang 'warehouse' parties? i like the name, no idea if they're any good or not.

jabba hands, Monday, 25 February 2013 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

If you fancy something deep, this will be the real deal, although a little away from Brighton: https://www.facebook.com/events/523063584379317

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 25 February 2013 19:44 (thirteen years ago)

oh nice! i know lewes well, wonder where that will be. but i will be in london for vakula/MMH/fulton that night...

jabba hands, Monday, 25 February 2013 19:49 (thirteen years ago)

Damn, I think that quiz night broke me.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 27 February 2013 13:12 (thirteen years ago)

that was fun!! but yes, add me to the broken pile too

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Wednesday, 27 February 2013 14:30 (thirteen years ago)

Thirded on the brokenness. Glad you had a good time though, guys, it was a blast.

emil.y, Wednesday, 27 February 2013 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

Only just heard about this thing:

http://playgroupbrighton.org/events/2013/03/14/afriganza-festival-4-day-african-music-festival/

The Friday night with Bass Clef and the London Afrobeat Collective looks like fun

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Monday, 4 March 2013 10:58 (thirteen years ago)

It looks interesting, although I don’t know anyone playing! However, I’m up in Newcastle that weekend.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 4 March 2013 11:01 (thirteen years ago)

Well I can't say I'm an expert either really. Could turn out to be rubbish too, the few African music things I've been to in Brighton people have just been stood around like planks instead of dancing, which does kill the vibe a bit.

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Monday, 4 March 2013 11:20 (thirteen years ago)

Probably not yr thing at all but there's quite a few good noisy psych things coming up over the next few months too - Hookworms/Cold Pumas, Sightings/Sealings, White Hills, Guardian Alien

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Monday, 4 March 2013 11:22 (thirteen years ago)

I just don’t understand why people don’t dance to music which is good for dancing to.

O.o?

I dance to music even if it isn’t that good for dancing!

Could be persuaded for some noisy psych, depending on dates etc.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 4 March 2013 11:46 (thirteen years ago)

I'm not a big dancer unless I'm wasted, it's just a matter of being nervous/uptight/clumsy/generally not good at dancing etc.

Not sure I'd want to go to the whole Afriganza thing, was hoping it'd be more like the Japanese festival where it's all across town and you can dip into bits as you see fit. But might try on the door for one.

I very very strongly recommend Hookworms, seen them a lot now and they are awesome live. Though I have the feeling I might not be able to actually make that gig?

emil.y, Monday, 4 March 2013 12:45 (thirteen years ago)

Sounds like I need to get some Gary's in for you.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 4 March 2013 13:16 (thirteen years ago)

i think maybe hookworms is the night before michael gira brings his merry minstrels to town?

i too am not great at public dancing unless i'm a little wasted, but i get wasted v. easily so it all evens itself out

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Monday, 4 March 2013 13:25 (thirteen years ago)

Ah, yeah. I think there's four or five nights with awesome gigs in the lead-up to my show on the 3rd, and I just can't do them all without fucking myself up.
