Boston -- Classic or Dirty Water?

so the latter here would be better than the former i think

so it would seem of these next two weekends the only night i have free right now is 2/22. but i'm up for hanging out that night!

Lord Hobo is pretty nice; they have a good selection of interesting beers and a bunch of cool appetizers on their menu (mmmmmm burrata). The only downside is it's not very large and a lot of people like it a lot, so there's a good chance we could get squeezed out at the bar if the timing is off unless we tried making a reservation.

The advantage to someplace like Meadhall is it's larger, if a little louder and "trendier". (which isn't to say that Lord Hobo hasn't gotten a trendy makeover in its transition from the B-Side, because it totally has, but remembering it as the B-Side undercuts that a little)

Meadhall might be good but is it really really loud? I am old and the hearing is going and remember that time we went to Public House and we couldn't hear shit? Hmmmmm.

lord hobo is great but yeah, it's kind of weird to get to and if it's packed you have to go a ways to find someplace else. good option if we were meeting up on the earlier side, but if we are meeting up let's say after 7 it might be risky. i have never been to meadhall.

i am still up for hanging out on friday btw.

I've only been to Meadhall once and I remember a lot of background noise, but it wasn't like My-Bloody-Valentine-concert loud

I should be okay for Friday I think? I have a random concert on Saturday so it will have to by necessity be a low-key evening for me drinkingwise

So, I was expecting to meet up with a friend in Boston tonight, but he's working crazy hours. As a result, looks like I'll be wandering the streets. Would you guys recommend heading over to Cambridge area for food/beer? I'm staying down near the harbour in Charlestown, so figure it should be easy enough to get there, and probably more fun than the downtown area?

Best areas to wander:

Boylston st/Newbury st in back bay
Tremont st in the South End
Hanover st in the North End
Central/Harvard/Inmansq in Cambridge

There are other places to go but they either aren't as obvious to see from public transportation or I am not as familiar with them. Also most places close between 1 and 2

So how about Friday the 15th? If people can make that I will try to think of places we might be able to get seats and talk. Hmmmmm. Have you guys been to The Precinct? It doesn't tend to be too crowded around then.

I've been to Precinct for brunch only, would be game for meeting up there

Any time I've been there early it's been at least quiet-ish.

Of course now that I say that it'll be slammed but there are at least three other places within walking distance from there that we could go to if that were the case.
