come on the pool. struggling to think of a big team i ever disliked as much as this season's man city side. espesh now mario's gone. mancini deserves some sort of prize for making THIS squad of players boring and functional.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:41 (thirteen years ago)

probably worth giving barca a ring see if they fancy a valdes swap

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:42 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah but it still was totally needless and wild. Xpost

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:42 (thirteen years ago)

Reina's got it back again imo. That was a mistake but it wouldn't've looked particularly bad without something extraordinary. Something Henderson couldn't manage on Wednesday with time to set himself and a much more favourable angle.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:45 (thirteen years ago)

99% of the time that doesn't result in a goal tho

not from a direct strike but factor in a cutback and it's more like 70%

henderson was stupid not to have squared it midweek

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:46 (thirteen years ago)

why are toepokes always so maligned

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:48 (thirteen years ago)

never knowingly toepoked

do you even frogbs? (cozen), Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:51 (thirteen years ago)

Good performance overall, I still have some belief in Bren's "project".

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:55 (thirteen years ago)

Liverpool looked the better team for long swathes of that and certainly better than Liverpool last season and for that matter before Christmas. I'd still be fairly heartened even if the equaliser was a kick in the teeth.

Matt DC, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:58 (thirteen years ago)

The team is on the brink of becoming pretty special imo, but this unable-to-beat-the-top-six thing is getting stupid.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 February 2013 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

'pretty special' by reference to the last three years, obviously

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 February 2013 18:00 (thirteen years ago)

I keep thinking I should pick a team over there to root for, and Liverpool might be it.

Dr. Alfred P. Falfa (WilliamC), Sunday, 3 February 2013 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

proceed with caution

Number None, Sunday, 3 February 2013 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

The defence is a problem but yeah, they are starting to look capable of controlling games, the attacking movement is really good.

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 February 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

Missed it all. Sounds like worth catching.

Balotelli just scored his first for Milan. RIP Mario u r missed in this thread tbh

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 3 February 2013 20:30 (thirteen years ago)

Ah man. I hope he takes the league by storm.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 3 February 2013 21:33 (thirteen years ago)

every time he scores someone'll post it here: it won't be that often once he gets bored.

ben foster five (darraghmac), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 00:55 (thirteen years ago)

R.I.P Carra.

rip, heaven needed another english franchise player with no skill or athleticism but plenty of passion and honesty and absence of nonsense

quite an own-goal haul for 'absence of nonsense' tbtfh

imago, Thursday, 7 February 2013 13:57 (thirteen years ago)

no nonsense defenders specialize in own goals, richard dunne has the record for current epl players, it's about being passionate and committed and trying to reach the ball even when not fast or skilful enough to properly control it

He's been one of the very best. I even liked him throwing a coin at the crowd once.

"Carragher, for me, is nothing. He's like a make of ketchup or mustard to a normal person: not important."

Number None, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

Heinz Ketchup is quite important to me actually.

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

the right mustard is very important to me

Number None, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:28 (thirteen years ago)

not really a Colman's fan though

Number None, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:31 (thirteen years ago)

I am not wild about English mustard tbh. French's or whatever in a burger is nice but not properly mustard I guess.

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

Can it garnish a burger bought from a van on an industrial estate on a wet Wednesday in Stoke?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

that quote was probably dioufy's biggest atrocity

it can, though it'd still taste of human flesh.

Ballboy to Afghanistan (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

Posh mustard for sandwich and cooking, rubbish for burgers etc

the right to beef at (darraghmac), Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:45 (thirteen years ago)

english mustard is good for nowt whatsoever imo

best bit: (According to a person at Manchester City who would speak only if his name was nowhere near this information, Mancini’s scarf is not the common acrylic kind anyone can order online, but a softer, squarer, chicer, tassel-free cashmere version he has specially made back home.)

pandemic, Saturday, 9 February 2013 12:51 (thirteen years ago)

The last few weeks have seen Bale genuinely become too good for us to keep. His last three goals alone are just ridiculous.

Matt DC, Saturday, 9 February 2013 12:53 (thirteen years ago)

xpost I never received a reply from the NYT's ombudsman when I emailed to complain that a piece about QPR inaccurately referred to them as "Queens Park" in the headline. You'd think that wasn't the most significant complaint they'd ever had or something. But for me it was morally equivalent to Judith Miller.

By the way, didn't SAF look terrible on Football Focus?
