I understand iridescent shantung going home. That dress was McCall's Tragic Pattern 101. My 7th grade textiles teacher would have advised her against that and she wore appliqued sweaters.

the judges critiques made NO sense and were obviously just invented as a way to justify his dismissal -- he was the token avant garde designer and the producers obviously intended him to be cannon fodder from the start. he should have piped up and taken credit for fixing amanda's dress! it makes me sad because he is obv super talented and shouldn't have been sent home imho, but its great that he got such wide exposure for his existing businesses. bye joe ;_;

Yeah wtf. Joe's piece wasn't that out there at all, not when compared to, say, Patricia's, which was my pick to go home, or Evil Joanna Newsom's "cupcake." And everyone piling on Allison Janney was nagl, esp. since hers ended up cuter than a lot of theirs (and definitely repped her decade more solidly than about half of them).

Anyway:

I loved this challenge. Miranda is awesome! I am a huge fan of her already.

Amanda & Ben rawwwwked it. Her fringe dress was awesome & Ben's was beautuful. But Richard's performance dress was maybe better. Stanley's wasn't right.

I actually didn't think anybody's pieces were terrible! And you have to admit that Portlandia's Nina impression was great, in fact, the best thing she's done on the show.
