Shay's right?

Also, how do I tell T to get there from HBS? I mean, it's right over the bridge, right?

go to party leather (ENBB), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, walk over the bridge, walk straight up jfk, and look for it on the right

an eagle named "small government" (call all destroyer), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

pretty much; when leaving the HBS campus, turn right on JFK and cross the river into Harvard Square and Shay's will be on the right once you pass the brick Harvard dorms (also on the right), I believe almost directly across the street from Wagamama

we were going to have a party but then remembered that AP and fiancee are going to be in town visiting and we may have to take them off to transportation during our usual Superbowl prep time

Bel-Air the Fresh Prince, sitting in a chair (DJP), Monday, 28 January 2013 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:03 (thirteen years ago)

Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:21 (thirteen years ago)

so the last time i came to a fap was the night whitney houston died. last february. despite that, i'd like to start coming again this year if no one has a problem with that

I have a business trip to your fair city coming up in a few weeks. If I wanted to find out where there's live music going on, where would I go? Is there a good website for seeing what's on?

CraigG, Thursday, 7 February 2013 09:54 (thirteen years ago)

markers!!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:07 (thirteen years ago)

craig--i usually just check venue by venue these days though other ppl may know of a good general listing. you can check what remains of our alt-weeklies at http://thephoenix.com/ and http://digboston.com/, or let me know if you're looking for something specific.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:10 (thirteen years ago)

yay markers

I can only echo what cad said re: live music, with the extra caveat that there is also a very vibrant classical scene in town as well, from the big guns of the BSO, Boston Lyric Opera and Handel & Hayden to smaller chamber ensembles that pop up all over the place, including string quartets, baroque ensembles, 8 to 17 voice choirs, a myriad of tiny opera ensembles and school opera productions, etc etc. I don't have a single-stop place that lists these concerts (aside from my Facebook feed, lol) but you can try checking the music section of the "What To Do" page on http://www.boston.com

Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 7 February 2013 14:25 (thirteen years ago)

thank dudes. i'll be hanging around ilx & this thread much more going forward and if all goes well i'll be at a fap soon

markers, Thursday, 7 February 2013 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

me irl

markers, Thursday, 7 February 2013 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

Cheers cad & Dan. I was looking at that Phoenix site and realising I don't recognise any of the bands (save for Enter Shikari, lol). So I'm now just randomly trying the myspace pages of anyone listed. As for something specific, not really. I mean, I mostly listen to punk (not including Enter Shikari) and post-rock, but the last gigs I've been to were King Creosote, a friend's blues band, and a random electronic show, so I'm open to most things, particularly those that are noisy (oh, Noise would be cool too).

Just feel like if I wander randomly I'll either not find anything, or end up at a Dropkick Murphy's tribute or something.

I've been to Boston once before, again on a business trip, but I spent my 2 free nights at the Celtics and the Bruins, followed by drinking at Hurricane O'Reilly's, as it was the first bar I saw. For the work part I'm out in Dedham, but going to make sure and go more central for the weekends so I don't have to catch the last commuter train.

CraigG, Thursday, 7 February 2013 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

HEY GUYS YES LET'S DO SOMETHING SOON

Maybe next weekend or the one after that? (14th/15th or 21st/22nd)

Or, you know, whenever.

go to party leather (ENBB), Thursday, 7 February 2013 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

xp that is literally how everyone ends up at hurricane o'reillys

call all destroyer, Thursday, 7 February 2013 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

you tell me when shit's going down and i'll be there

markers, Thursday, 7 February 2013 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

Where is Hurricane O'Reilly's? I always wound up at the Harp or the Penalty Box which I actually used to go to by choice in the early 00s because that's where The Pill was then.

go to party leather (ENBB), Thursday, 7 February 2013 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

hurricane o'reillys is on the street perpendicular to causeway next to the north station t stop. so if you get off the t on that side, or walk away from the garden in that direction, it is v. likely to be the first place you see.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 7 February 2013 19:17 (thirteen years ago)

Maybe next weekend or the one after that? (14th/15th or 21st/22nd)

so the latter here would be better than the former i think

markers, Thursday, 7 February 2013 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

so it would seem of these next two weekends the only night i have free right now is 2/22. but i'm up for hanging out that night!

call all destroyer, Sunday, 10 February 2013 02:45 (thirteen years ago)

Yay lets do it

Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Sunday, 10 February 2013 05:59 (thirteen years ago)

i'm in

markers, Sunday, 10 February 2013 06:06 (thirteen years ago)

really, hurricane's? we literally -make beer- like two doors down from there. walk a little farther!

epistantophus, Monday, 11 February 2013 03:53 (thirteen years ago)

you guys are always the most packed before/after events at the garden!

call all destroyer, Monday, 11 February 2013 03:58 (thirteen years ago)

too true. i usually try to skulk away before the crowd hits!

epistantophus, Monday, 11 February 2013 03:59 (thirteen years ago)

btw dude djp and i were at the fenway boston beer works two wednesdays ago and brought up the fact that we still want to visit you!

call all destroyer, Monday, 11 February 2013 04:01 (thirteen years ago)

You guys I work like 2 mins from there. You should have told me! I would have come out for a drink.

go to party leather (ENBB), Monday, 11 February 2013 04:08 (thirteen years ago)
