sarahell, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)

as is the one South of Market in SF - though it is a SF-filtered "huge mall"

sarahell, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 22:06 (thirteen years ago)

1.5GB of audio-destroying fluff (los blue jeans), Thursday, 17 January 2013 00:28 (thirteen years ago)

I just bike to mine so I have no idea what the car parking sitch is like but there are like four or five full-sized bike racks and there is always room to lock up.

two weeks pass...

Mandarin chicken was, I mean, pretty good enough except for that when you try to add veggies it totally fucks w/ the sauce proportions and everything's kinda dry/not saucy enough.

am down with their red tart cherry juice -- mr veg drinks it as a preventative gout remedy.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 4 February 2013 23:24 (thirteen years ago)

what yall think about these in-shell almonds? they're cheaper than plain roasted almonds, but you're also paying for shells.

Philip Nunez, Monday, 4 February 2013 23:38 (thirteen years ago)

i looove those rice crackers
self-control is usually achieved by eating from little tiny bowls, but i usually go back for more at least once (usually just once.)

the ginger-lemon-echinacea juice is great in smoothies with blueberries, banana, spinach, kefir and way cheaper than the same juice sold by knutsberry farms or whatever it's called

the ginger-lemon-echinacea juice

my bf buys this on every trip to tj's. he calls it "demon brew."

johnny hit and run paul lynde (get bent), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 01:33 (thirteen years ago)

maybe i'll call it that too! it's so good!!

this customer is a jerk (La Lechera), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 01:34 (thirteen years ago)

vanilla cinnamon black tea yes
grass-fed beef, imported from nz, not good. ground too fine so it's like dense then it's mashed by the packaging, also bland and has the odd ball of cartilage in it

veryupsetmom (harbl), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 01:35 (thirteen years ago)

omg LL that juice sounds delish, I will try it!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 02:29 (thirteen years ago)

Van cinn blk tea was only just alright until yday I had the realization to put sugar in it instead of honey (and also a bit of half and half) and it was PERFECTION

whoop i. goldberg (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 17:24 (thirteen years ago)

I continue to be obsessed with the vegetable masala burgers

they should just extrude it into big fat logs that I can stuff into my big fat face

乒乓, Tuesday, 19 February 2013 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

The TJ's near me (Cap Hill in Seattle) had their frozen multigrain vegetable blend at their sample station...they cooked it in beef broth, coconut cream and curry power and it was DELICIOUS, I'm going to make it this weekend.

btw I bought their Salted Tortilla Chips (in the yellow and blue bag) when I had a gluten-free friend visit...they are the best tortilla chips I have ever had. Not too salty (I hate tortilla chips that make the inside of my mouth feel raw) and they're thick!

Also I feel the need to mention their rosemary raisin crisps since it hasn't gotten much press in this thread...people go nuts when I serve it. Eat it with brie and you'll feel like henry vii in a good way.

musically, Thursday, 21 February 2013 18:35 (thirteen years ago)

Hey, that's my TJs, too!

I've been eating up all the Aloo Chaat Kati Pouches and the Gone Bananas (frozen banana slices dipped in chocolate)

kate78, Thursday, 21 February 2013 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

I snagged some of those pouches but I haven't tried them yet.

ICANN Tina Turner (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 22 February 2013 01:24 (thirteen years ago)

I thought they were kind of a bummer, like slightly classier Hot Pockets that are, at least, meat free.

new hope for orang-utan (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Friday, 22 February 2013 06:41 (thirteen years ago)

rosemary raisin crisps

these are AMAZING

johnny hit and run paul lynde (get bent), Friday, 22 February 2013 06:44 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, the pouches are a classier hotpocket, but they make a quick and tasty lunch. I like to dip 'em in mint chutney.

kate78, Friday, 22 February 2013 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

I'm slowly and begrudgingly coming to the realization that the fresh pizza dough (which I seem to by constantly) just isn't all that good.

ferreira rocher (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 4 March 2013 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

I've never bought it, but my sister was claiming that the dough at Whole Foods is better

then again, my sister

☠ ☃ ☠ (mh), Monday, 4 March 2013 20:24 (thirteen years ago)

ya i mean it's fine for a "quick meal" or "pizza night with the kids" or whatever; it's not bad or gross but it's pretty bland and flavorless and if you are actively seeking out a yummy crust, this really isn't going to do it. I know I should start making my own but the mess and the cleanup and the time is such a pain in the ass.

ferreira rocher (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 4 March 2013 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

garlic + herb one is p tasty though

ferreira rocher (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 4 March 2013 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

peanut butter filled cupcakes oh hi hum

I'll second the roasted coconut chips mentioned upthread. And I'm not really ba coconut fan.

nickn, Monday, 4 March 2013 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

my cat loves coconut and will eat the coconut chips

☠ ☃ ☠ (mh), Monday, 4 March 2013 21:44 (thirteen years ago)

Love the coconut chips, but the new coconut strips have a gross texture like a Christmas jelly candy. How could they do this to a coconut?

I wish every slot machine had EAT THE RICH printed on it (Crabbits), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 02:28 (thirteen years ago)

I have been buying their black bean & corn veggie enchilada things, which have this yummy Tex-mex sauce that tastes just like a Mormon mom made it. For some reason everyone at work is continually impressed with the appearance, smell, and caloric content of these microwave enchiladas. I feel like eating these enchiladas has garnered me more praise than any of my actual efforts at work. Well, I will take that praise.

I wish every slot machine had EAT THE RICH printed on it (Crabbits), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 02:30 (thirteen years ago)

A kid even picked the package up and joked he was going to steal it, until he saw it said "organic" and jokingly dropped it like it was a two-headed rat.

I wish every slot machine had EAT THE RICH printed on it (Crabbits), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 02:33 (thirteen years ago)

The tone was: joking

I bought the roasted seaweed sheets today on a whim.

Uh oh.

"...Tex-mex sauce that tastes just like a Mormon mom made it."

Damning with faint praise?

nickn, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:44 (thirteen years ago)

is that uh oh like "they are so good I can't stop eating them" or "put the sidewalls on the crapper" or what?

los blue jeans, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:47 (thirteen years ago)

Oh, so good. So good at yet so much packaging for some tissue-thin sheets of pressed seaweed, also they practically dissolve in your mouth so you feel like they're nothing and could eat a whole box.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

sometimes trader joe's sourcing of stuff makes it absurdly cheap against other stores but i bet the seaweed is maybe 1/2 to 1/4 the price at an asian market if you can get to one.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:52 (thirteen years ago)

Frankly the packaging is just as bad there, it's little tiny sheets in plastic bubble-sealed packets, inside an outer wrapper. But yes, I can probably get to some somehow in New York City.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:54 (thirteen years ago)

get the ones that are legal-sized sheets for maximum value/minimal packaging.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:58 (thirteen years ago)

Also good if you're an undersea lawyer.

new hope for orang-utan (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 04:58 (thirteen years ago)

The seaweed sheets are very low calorie, iirc, like 100 for the whole package. If ya gotta eat a whole package of something, it should be that.

nickn, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 05:34 (thirteen years ago)

I tried those ones and there were one of the most vile things I've ever put in my mouth.

Jeff, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 12:02 (thirteen years ago)

Dried kimchi snack. Interesting but not something I want to continually put into my mouth.

Jeff, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 11:27 (thirteen years ago)

Really like the black and white rice rolls.

killfiled by life (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 12:07 (thirteen years ago)

Jeez, this microwavable vegetable green curry bowl thing is stupid-bland and also is p much julienned carrots and some other julienned thing with maybe two pieces of v soggy cauliflower and nothing else. This is so awful!

funky divacups (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 00:14 (thirteen years ago)

Somehow the True Thai Vegetable Panang Curry in the microwavable cup manages to provide more than half of your daily recommended sodium intake while still tasting like it needs salt (and aside from raw radishes and cucumbers, I don't put salt on things).

ditto, more like FALSE Thai
