£25m is Bentley + Hutton.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 11:51 (thirteen years ago)
was ultimately a case of hutton dressed as lahm
― Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 16 January 2013 11:51 (thirteen years ago)
hutton was a terrible waste of money but he did at least look like an actual modern fullback with decent dribbling at pace and good recovery
he wasn't just a british residual rb
interesting comparison between naughton and walker -- i think the former might actually have a better fullback brain and conventional skillset but walker is such an incredible athlete capable of overmatching an entire left side
with walker it seems like he was an athlete first, then residual fullback, and with good coaching might actually become a real fullback for the long term

i'd like to see naughton at rb for a while to say for sure whether his rotten attitude and stupid passes aren't down to disgust and confusion at his sinister placement
Hutton never looked anything like a player for us, not from day one.

How has Yann M'Vila's stock fallen to the extent that QPR can pick him up for £7m? Do Rennes have financial problems or is he nearing the end of his contract or something?
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 13:21 (thirteen years ago)
redknapp claiming they rejected £28m from an english club a while ago
that's more than any defensive midfielder has ever sold for so probably redknapp blather
m'vila still has two and half years but he is immature and a bit of a waster, nobody at the top table wants to go near him

Asked whether he had a message to Blues fans, who are disappointed that he did not fulfil his potential, Urmston-born Johnson, a product of the City academy, said: “I am more disappointed than anyone but that’s the way it goes.”
He initially declined to say any more but rang us back, revealing: “I have been attending the Priory Clinic for a number of years now with regard to my mental health and would be grateful if I could now be left alone to live the rest of my life.”

If you like reading about one-man seasons for Manchester United, you'll probably like this article about Manchester United's one-man seasons. I quite liked it, but thought there was one mistake in it.http://therepublikofmancunia.com/top-5-manchester-united-one-man-seasons/

yeah i thought bayern was always more likely than chelsea and probably city too despite begiristan and the other cunts there
bayern = fresh = organic = traditional = spiritual = volkisch = every player is sufficiently precious to have their own tumblr, the only team outside arsenal and barcelona who can claim that honour

Some of those heads don't look right. Like they're photo-shopped on. I never took Neil Lennon for a big head but it's twice the size of Hughton's.

Didn't see a second of it, but assists for Clyne and Shaw makes me v happy indeed. Specially if, as sounds the case, Shaw's one came from one of his big fuck-off runs down the left, which are awesome.
Imagine if Puncheon for England becomes a thing. True, he's probably behind Nathan Dyer in the queue at the very least, but just IMAGINE.
― William Bloody Swygart, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 21:44 (thirteen years ago)
oh man wait till you see the 2nd goal! epic run from shaw and the finish was a beaut. punch prob our most influential player atm? we were well worth the point, had lots of meandering possession in the first half and then as soon we put a couple of quick balls into the box, we score twice. and chaplow came on - truly a memorable night.

Speaking to the club's official website, Remy revealed a four-hour talk with Fernandes regarding his future ended in a game of FIFA 12, sealing the deal at Loftus Road.
"It was a special moment that followed our chat about QPR," Remy said.
"We just played a game of FIFA - it was good and showed to me what a good person Tony is.
"He showed his human side to me as an owner of the club I wanted to join. It was a special moment for us both."

Meanwhile Bobby Zamora is still eating in his car. Shivering now, probably.

Shearer quotes around today questioning Remy's motives. He thinks it might've come down to money.
― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 17 January 2013 12:09 (thirteen years ago)
Eat your chicken and beans, Shearer.
― Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 17 January 2013 12:15 (thirteen years ago)
Shearer never negotiated a contract in his life, when he moved to Blackburn all he got was twenty-four guilders and a box of coloured beads.
― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 17 January 2013 12:18 (thirteen years ago)
That were twice as many as Chris Sutton and three times as many as Stuart Ripley though.

He doesn't know that Hansen's on £1.5m a year for motd. In fact he doesn't even know it's a tv show - he thinks Gary just likes having him round on a Saturday night to watch the footy.

LOIC REMY snubbed the chance to see what Newcastle United had to offer – in favour of a lie-in.
The 26-year-old France international, who completed his move to Queens Park Rangers yesterday, had been offered a full-works tour of St James’ Park and the city as well as a look around the training facilities at the club’s Benton base on Tuesday.
But, rather than take a flight to Tyneside, the Chronicle understands he opted to stay in bed until lunchtime before taking in the sights of the capital.
― r|t|c, Thursday, 17 January 2013 12:38 (thirteen years ago)
These are golden opportunities for agents though - whack your player into a probably-soon-to-be-relegated club for ridiculous wages, hope they impress in the Premiership and then pocket the change as they transfer to another Premiership team for even madder wages. It's like Tevez and Mascherano without the ownership fannydangle.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 17 January 2013 12:57 (thirteen years ago)
seeing as how Matt Jarvis has got an England cap the least they can do is give Puncheon a couple

Maybe something's lost in the translation, but he didn't see to make a very coherent argument. IIRC it was something like "it's not fair, they call me a cheat and say I dive, like that time at Stoke, except I did dive there because we were drawing and I wanted us to win, but anyway it's not fair."
