Reina took a really hefty one, that's some classy booing

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:16 (thirteen years ago)

might be cause Webb only stopped the game when Utd got the ball back

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:17 (thirteen years ago)

Webb trying to pre-emptively nobble any accusations of bias by allowing Liverpool to play for several minutes when in possession despite Reina being on the floor injured, then blowing the whistle as soon as United get the ball. Either you stop play or you don't.

Shame for Liverpool because Reina and Agger are keeping Liverpool in this, they're being whipped otherwise. Joe Allen is really not the man for this occasion, he's either being bypassed or giving the ball away.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

What was he going to do, let you have a go at an empty net?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

Downing getting a sneaky effort on target from the restart

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:19 (thirteen years ago)

why not? why did Liverpool get to play on?

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

United should really be two or three up by now.

What was he going to do, let you have a go at an empty net?

Yes - if it wasn't serious to stop play for the best part of a minute when Liverpool were on the attack, why did it suddenly become more serious when United got possession?

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:23 (thirteen years ago)

If he was going to blow the whistle at all, he should have blown it when he saw Reina down injured. Alternatively he should have left it to United to put the ball out.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:23 (thirteen years ago)

There was no risk while Liverpool were attacking, he wasn't dying or anything - not so when Utd start going forward. Right decision. It's not like you need the help anyway.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:24 (thirteen years ago)

The decision couldn't have been more wrong! If the injury is serious he should stop the game, if not play continues and it's up to the players to put it out - Liverpool chose not to.

Fuck all wrong with him anyway.

Stop Gerrying Me! (onimo), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:29 (thirteen years ago)

Typical

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:30 (thirteen years ago)

i'm strongly against the ball being put out for anything short of an actual death

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

agreed

Stop Gerrying Me! (onimo), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

Stop it for heart attacks, seizures, head injuries and maybe limbs pointing the wrong way.

Anything that can be fixed with a guy spraying things at you = not an injury.

Stop Gerrying Me! (onimo), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:35 (thirteen years ago)

It was a head injury! Anyway Webb should arguably only have blown as play approached the box - if Utd gave it away before then, keep going.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

if he'd correctly awarded the penalty we wouldn't be having this stupid argument

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

otm, if one of my players kicked the ball out for less than this i'd fine them a month's wages

non-elitist melted poo (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

Better, but we still seem to be outnumbered in all areas at all times. Would like a panoramic view to see how that's possible.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

Wasn't a red

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:45 (thirteen years ago)

Fuck's sake, how obvious that that was about to happen?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:46 (thirteen years ago)

Get in!

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:49 (thirteen years ago)

Utd bizarrely slow to react to anything in that passage

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:50 (thirteen years ago)

Terrible keeping from De Gea.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:50 (thirteen years ago)

Most entertaining thing in this half has been Suarez's look of abject disgust when Wisdom ballooned it wide instead of passing.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

Great save. Rafael should have been covering

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

It was a head injury!

a head injury fixed by having water thrown in your face = not a head injury

Stop Gerrying Me! (onimo), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

Terrible keeping from De Gea.

Eh?

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:55 (thirteen years ago)

Come off it, he's lucky to be alive

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:55 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, his team mate almost killed him with that blatant push in the box. Good job it's not one of those refs who gives Utd everything.

Stop Gerrying Me! (onimo), Sunday, 13 January 2013 14:59 (thirteen years ago)

whatta pass from suarez

contrarian, zing thyself (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:02 (thirteen years ago)

Suicidal defending. If we carry on like this we're going to rue being so wasteful in the first half.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

What's happened here? Liverpool looking potent now.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)

Momentarily confused at why Dempsey was coming on for Utd

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:12 (thirteen years ago)

argh

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:17 (thirteen years ago)

big miss!

contrarian, zing thyself (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:17 (thirteen years ago)

what the fuck is going on

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:18 (thirteen years ago)

ha ha. valencia and johnson holding hands.

contrarian, zing thyself (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:19 (thirteen years ago)

Webb has been very kind of Liverpool today

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)

kind to even

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)

i had to have a grown up morning, what'd i miss

let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-ilxors (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)

one of the great Joe Allen performances

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

ha

let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-ilxors (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:23 (thirteen years ago)

Jesus, that last twenty minutes or so were horrible. Liverpool were much better with Sturridge on the pitch. It must be obvious to Ferguson that United are shit at defending, so why choose to try to see out the game and bring on extra defenders? We were just about hanging on there for ages. I'd have brought on Hernandez instead and tried to get a third. Still - if that Van Persie backheel had gone in in injury time that would have been fantastic.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:29 (thirteen years ago)

I think the 'Webb favours United' conspiracy theory can be put to bed now, by the way.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:31 (thirteen years ago)

nah, this doesn't fit the narrative. It'll be forgotten

Number None, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

wtf guys, did you not see the Vidic header where a goalkick was given?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:35 (thirteen years ago)

Jamie Redknapp sure is irate at that offside

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:36 (thirteen years ago)

Jamie Redknapp sure is irate about De Gea

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

ah hey now

it's a nice trick to throw the scent off by giving some decisions against utd in a game they were never in danger of losing.

let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-ilxors (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:40 (thirteen years ago)

They were in danger of throwing away that lead for quite a lot of the second half.
