Yes - if it wasn't serious to stop play for the best part of a minute when Liverpool were on the attack, why did it suddenly become more serious when United got possession?

If he was going to blow the whistle at all, he should have blown it when he saw Reina down injured. Alternatively he should have left it to United to put the ball out.

There was no risk while Liverpool were attacking, he wasn't dying or anything - not so when Utd start going forward. Right decision. It's not like you need the help anyway.
