Any idea what's happening with Coloccini? BBC's reporting he wants to go back to Argentina immediately due to a "crisis in his personal life". Then I noticed his dad is his agent...
― Matt DC, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:33 (thirteen years ago)
Marital problems, allegedly
― Number None, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:41 (thirteen years ago)
I know it's redundant moaning about Lowro's predictions, but 1-1 for Norwich Newcastle? Neither of us can defend worth a penny - Newcastle especially so if Coloccini goes. I agree with the draw, but expect 6 or 8 goals in a battle for bottom-half mediocrity.

Is everyone eligible off to the cup of nations? When's cabaye back in contention? As you may be able to tell, im not particularly well informed about all this. But a couple of months down ba, cisse, tiote, colocinni and cabaye could seriously fuck them. Surely they couldn't get relegated, but all the same, the outlook would be pretty grim unless they make some signings/loans quicksmart.
― Windsor Davies, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:51 (thirteen years ago)
you're not that well-informed Windsor, Ba's gone to Chelsea :\
― non-elitist melted poo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 11 January 2013 13:53 (thirteen years ago)
You know what i mean. Was simply drawing up a list of key players they won't have for a while. Obvs I'm aware that ba has high-tailed it but I'm writing this from my phone and couldn't be arsed drawing a distinction. But now I've written all this I wish I'd just taken the time in the first place.
― Windsor Davies, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:57 (thirteen years ago)
They've got about as easy a run of fixtures in January as you could wish for in their situation. Gets hairy immediately after that though.
― Matt DC, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:58 (thirteen years ago)
I mean I don't have much faith in them beating even Reading in their current state but surely they can muster a point against Villa.
― Matt DC, Friday, 11 January 2013 13:59 (thirteen years ago)
"surely they can muster a point against villa"
That element of doubt = about as damning an indictment as you could wish for really

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2013/jan/11/sir-alex-ferguson-manchester-united-signings
This sounded like a good idea for an article (picking the best XI from Ferguson's bargain signings), but the person writing it somehow seems not to understand the concept of inflation and has just named signings from 87-93 when everything was cheaper (and footballers were *much* cheaper). Bruce, Parker, Ince and Hughes weren't considered cheap at the time, and Pallister and Keane were both record signings iirc.
― A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 12 January 2013 11:54 (thirteen years ago)
ha, that's from the same school of splashes as 'X has become the highest-paid player in the club's history'
― Ismael Klata, Saturday, 12 January 2013 12:02 (thirteen years ago)
Would Rob Green have made those saves? I think so.
― Ismael Klata, Saturday, 12 January 2013 12:53 (thirteen years ago)
QPR are defending pretty well - think we need Sigurdsson on in the second half, he's got the best eye for a defence-splitting pass and a lot more dead-ball threat as well.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 12 January 2013 13:16 (thirteen years ago)
I feel like Parker's limitations are going to be exposed in this side - a couple of times he's turned into trouble like he was following a grid; not the flexibility of the rest of your midfield.
― Ismael Klata, Saturday, 12 January 2013 13:23 (thirteen years ago)
why the fuck does naughton go forward he's shite and in the way. Like a second adebayor.

what is it about Chelsea that enables them to go ham on Stoke all the time?
― ▼ardkore mort▼ (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 12 January 2013 16:33 (thirteen years ago)
2 OGs by Walters, a soft penalty, and Hazard's shot took a sizable deflection too.
― boxall, Saturday, 12 January 2013 16:34 (thirteen years ago)
Walters never was this prolific for Ireland, despite getting far better service.
― Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 January 2013 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
lol, did you see the cross and the corner he headed in though? Both were excellent.
John Terry has come on as a sub, given a penalty, and now Walters has smashed it high, barely clipped the bar.

I really hope Ted's right, I don't like to think that by the time Stoke next play he'll've succumbed to pestilence, death or worse
― Ismael Klata, Saturday, 12 January 2013 17:56 (thirteen years ago)
Villa failed to find a way through a defence built on Maya Yoshida and Jos Hooiveld. This does not speak well of them.
