I had to throw out the rest of the lemur tea. For some reason, it wasn't the same this year, maybe because I have been drinking tea from Grace Tea, or maybe because the tea has changed. The first bag was really sweet and tasted strongly of cinnamon; the rest were stale and were not helped by milk. Apples are still an excellent value and fresh at the Trader Joe's in Irvine, CA. I forgot to check for Nantes carrots.

Sweet potato gnocchi w/ butter and sage was terrible; I couldn't even finish it. So bland and so greasy!

TJ's has like 20 different kinds of cheddar cheese. Which is the sharpest? Which is your favorite?

I've been on a cold streak with TJ's and I'm buying less and less there. Costco is outdoing them on nearly everything. I still like the pound-plus chocolate bars and the little nut packages ("just a handful of" -- they even have one with chocolate now).

I got a tub of their Greens Powder to add to my smoothies. I'm not convinced of the usefulness of greens powder anyway and the TJ's version was ~1/4 the cost of anything at Whole Foods.

try the cheddar/gruyere "melange"

I have, it's good, but I just want a straight cheddar.

Anything that's been aged. The longer they've aged it, the sharper and more delicious it will be.

I like the Black Diamond white cheddar. It's one of the sliced ones.

the parking situation at the one I go to is ridiculous.

Is that the one Oakland on er some road that has "Lake" in it? It is the worst and caused me to do something of which I am quite ashamed: I was driving my brother's car, which has a handicapped sticker (he is paraplegic). He wasn't with me, but *I parked in a handicapped space* out of utter frustration with that parking lot. I confessed to my brother later and he's like yeah, you're an asshole for doing that even though it is the worst parking lot in the US of A.

the one in Sac on folsom blvd is the worst -- L shaped parking lot with only 1 entrance/exit, there's ALWAYS a line of 5 cars in the street waiting to go in. Go somewhere else! there's no parking for you there!

I only go to the one out by my office because it's in a huge mall with tons of parking for other surrounding shops. Possibly the only one of its kind. ie the Unicorn of Trader Joes

I just bike to mine so I have no idea what the car parking sitch is like but there are like four or five full-sized bike racks and there is always room to lock up.

Mandarin chicken was, I mean, pretty good enough except for that when you try to add veggies it totally fucks w/ the sauce proportions and everything's kinda dry/not saucy enough.

am down with their red tart cherry juice -- mr veg drinks it as a preventative gout remedy.

what yall think about these in-shell almonds? they're cheaper than plain roasted almonds, but you're also paying for shells.

self-control is usually achieved by eating from little tiny bowls, but i usually go back for more at least once (usually just once.)

the ginger-lemon-echinacea juice is great in smoothies with blueberries, banana, spinach, kefir and way cheaper than the same juice sold by knutsberry farms or whatever it's called

grass-fed beef, imported from nz, not good. ground too fine so it's like dense then it's mashed by the packaging, also bland and has the odd ball of cartilage in it

omg LL that juice sounds delish, I will try it!

Van cinn blk tea was only just alright until yday I had the realization to put sugar in it instead of honey (and also a bit of half and half) and it was PERFECTION

wow so new 'dark chocolate lover's' 85% tj brand chocolate is goooood. fruity tasting. rich. and cheap!

Roasted Coconut Chips

I continue to be obsessed with the vegetable masala burgers

they should just extrude it into big fat logs that I can stuff into my big fat face

The TJ's near me (Cap Hill in Seattle) had their frozen multigrain vegetable blend at their sample station...they cooked it in beef broth, coconut cream and curry power and it was DELICIOUS, I'm going to make it this weekend.

btw I bought their Salted Tortilla Chips (in the yellow and blue bag) when I had a gluten-free friend visit...they are the best tortilla chips I have ever had. Not too salty (I hate tortilla chips that make the inside of my mouth feel raw) and they're thick!

Also I feel the need to mention their rosemary raisin crisps since it hasn't gotten much press in this thread...people go nuts when I serve it. Eat it with brie and you'll feel like henry vii in a good way.

I've been eating up all the Aloo Chaat Kati Pouches and the Gone Bananas (frozen banana slices dipped in chocolate)

I snagged some of those pouches but I haven't tried them yet.

I thought they were kind of a bummer, like slightly classier Hot Pockets that are, at least, meat free.

these are AMAZING

Yeah, the pouches are a classier hotpocket, but they make a quick and tasty lunch. I like to dip 'em in mint chutney.

I'm slowly and begrudgingly coming to the realization that the fresh pizza dough (which I seem to by constantly) just isn't all that good.

I've never bought it, but my sister was claiming that the dough at Whole Foods is better

ya i mean it's fine for a "quick meal" or "pizza night with the kids" or whatever; it's not bad or gross but it's pretty bland and flavorless and if you are actively seeking out a yummy crust, this really isn't going to do it. I know I should start making my own but the mess and the cleanup and the time is such a pain in the ass.

Love the coconut chips, but the new coconut strips have a gross texture like a Christmas jelly candy. How could they do this to a coconut?

I have been buying their black bean & corn veggie enchilada things, which have this yummy Tex-mex sauce that tastes just like a Mormon mom made it. For some reason everyone at work is continually impressed with the appearance, smell, and caloric content of these microwave enchiladas. I feel like eating these enchiladas has garnered me more praise than any of my actual efforts at work. Well, I will take that praise.

A kid even picked the package up and joked he was going to steal it, until he saw it said "organic" and jokingly dropped it like it was a two-headed rat.
