Newcastle v Everton 6 mins' injury time is quite amusing. Everton effortlessly playing keepball, except for the twice when it's come to Brian Oviedo, who's had a rush of blood, gone for goal and immediately lost it and put his side under pressure.

Suarez - my big hope is that he's perverse enough to buy into the This Is Anfield mentality.

Wow, that second Everton goal is exquisite.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

Sorry got distracted there - I hope Suarez is perverse enough to value the This Is Anfield thing over the things that motivate most of his elite brethren.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 21:59 (thirteen years ago)

good luck with that

Well if I had to pick one who might go for it

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 22:04 (thirteen years ago)

baines is obviously very good, and he played well tonight, but can't help but feel his #modLAD status is a big part of why nult and all at bbc sport are creaming themselves over him so much

were you beaten up by a roving gang of mods sometime in the past?

Number None, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:36 (thirteen years ago)

suarez is something over that first ten yards huh

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:38 (thirteen years ago)

lol at Allen's "A" celebration for his disallowed goal

Number None, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

was just coming here to post that. incredible strength and pace, he seems to just emerge beyond the defender.

xpost

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:43 (thirteen years ago)

that gerrard pass was so good, definitely deserves to fuck up the next thousand of those

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:44 (thirteen years ago)

baines fuckup for cissé's goal

"The defeat against Liverpool was a terrible day for us. Today we all knew where we were, against Liverpool, we got picked off too easily and had lads there who did not speak English. Today Shaun Derry did a terrific job for us."

it's gettin to the stage where i'll have to stop denyin him, lg. His ambition on his first touch is great, too, must try to create something or beat his man seven times from ten with it.

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:52 (thirteen years ago)

obertan now more useful than ashley young, right?

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:54 (thirteen years ago)

they haven't a hope of keeping him beyond the summer i'd say, sadly. xpost.

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:55 (thirteen years ago)

swp is such a little dickhead not celebrating cos he spent a year in chelsea reserves, i was on my knees in the pub mid-rapture suddenly thinking it was disallowed

r|t|c, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:56 (thirteen years ago)

i'm pretty sure that's one of maybe three decent games Obertan has had since he went to Newcastle. And i hate Ashley Young

Number None, Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:58 (thirteen years ago)

everton are so good down the left.baines hit that ball really hard into the middle of the goal from thirty yards. keeper.

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 2 January 2013 23:58 (thirteen years ago)

newcastle defenders, i mean some of these guys aren't anything like epl level

Ach santon square it ffs

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

that move for the anichebe goal was really slick.

btw meant to say on lfc, the rodgers philosophy stuff is a bit hard to grasp in a way. i mean, theoretically it was meant to be all keep-ball and possession based, but the goals quite often seem to come from counter attack and very broken play.

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

Big lulz of Benitez @ Chelsea finally delivered.

Shame that ugly hamster twat of a Suarez scored again and is playing annoyingly well.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:03 (thirteen years ago)

the goals quite often seem to come from suarez xp

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:04 (thirteen years ago)

'give it to luis' is the real philosophy

Everton hardly keeping baines, fellaini maybe pienaar beyond this year?

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:05 (thirteen years ago)

rodgers going on about the TEAM but suarez is so far ahead of everything else there

tho rodgers is using him well

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

btw has rafa lost a good bit of weight?

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

put on, i was thinking

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:08 (thirteen years ago)

yeah agreed nakh/darragh. it's not particularly encouraging, like he is carving goals out despite the fairly poor service. the team is knocking it around nicely but in the final third they don't create much, they need more pace and invention from midfield if they're going to be avoid depending entirely on one player yet again.

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

can see baines & fellaini at united

fergie will probs just leave it at baines and say the midfield's covered though

fellaini to chelsea eh idk that would need to be a manager not a boardroom decision

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:11 (thirteen years ago)

bit pointless buying Fellaini for midfield considering he seems to play his best football behind the striker

Number None, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:12 (thirteen years ago)

they should just play him as a #9

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:14 (thirteen years ago)

no champions league team is going to play someone in the #10 / withdrawn forward position whose main skillset is shoving over defenders and scrappy lampardish finishing

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

how do you explain Rooney then?

Number None, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:17 (thirteen years ago)

yeah true but fergie will go for the vibe and think about formation later though

not like kagawa's there for any particular tactical reason

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:18 (thirteen years ago)

Really a bit depressing that an Everton side that's lost 3 in 30 is somehow seen as a feeder club. Like these players simply have to move on now. I think it's bullshit.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:19 (thirteen years ago)

it's not quite that, there's a difference between players agitating for moves wherever after a good season or two and players who will want to leave only after certain clubs come calling

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:25 (thirteen years ago)

maybe ferguson will use him as a sort of free big, roving wherever the team needs support and defenders pushed over

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:26 (thirteen years ago)

fellaini definitely wants to leave in the summer

baines idk, he is 28 so £15m or whatever isn't going to fit in with the united transfer policy for non-rvps

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

false big

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

false #0

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:28 (thirteen years ago)

no offence michael -i'll make a list of spurs players that'll likely go in summer if it helps- but these are the realities, no? everton mightn't be as hard-up as they were a few years ago but moyes and kenwright know very well that cashing in at the height of a player's form is a smarter long-term move a lot of the time. If you finish top four there's obv more chance of retaining and bolstering, but otherwise this is how every club below the top three operate, hardly a major denigration.

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:29 (thirteen years ago)

sounds about right re roving big

regardless of his technique fellaini's main attribute will always ultimately be causing terror

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:29 (thirteen years ago)

baines idk, he is 28 so £15m or whatever isn't going to fit in with the united transfer policy for non-rvps

maybs but there's already allowance for youth elsewhere in the side and evra's indian summer might solidify the desire for readymade continuity of efficacy in the position

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

Fabio's loan looks a wee bit misjudged in retrospect

Number None, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:34 (thirteen years ago)

nah honestly he's not good enough, just doesnt have the needle in him his bro has

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:40 (thirteen years ago)

what have u heard?

slitherin sockattacks (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:43 (thirteen years ago)

xp in fact the loan was prob a bid to get that into him, clockwork orange torture scene style

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:43 (thirteen years ago)

still, he went from starting a Champions League final in 2011 to a berth on the deathship QPR

Number None, Thursday, 3 January 2013 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

feel like all this general lol benitez vibe nowadays is obscuring the historical value of his work tonight

his more recent inter/chelsea fuck ups were part of a general incompetence but this rotation was vintage stuff, that exactly-why-liverpool-didnt-win-the-league shit
