ffs.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:04 (thirteen years ago)

This is going to be the best game of the season, isn't it?

William Bloody Swygart, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)

We came from 2-1 at West Ham, so this can be done.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)

Has anyone here bought a ticket for an extortionate price from a ticket agency?

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:12 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, why?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:15 (thirteen years ago)

How reliable are they?

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

I've only done it once (away end, Utd-West Ham, 2007). They came through in the end but it seemed like a totally fly-by-night operation - I had to hound them on the Friday to get arrangements from them when they were supposed to post them out; a guy pitched up eventually at my hotel on the Saturday, by which point I was having kittens because there were folk already travelling pending me getting them tickets; and they weren't six tickets together like I'd been promised - in fact one wasn't even in the West Ham end.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:26 (thirteen years ago)

Now I remember they only came up with five, which was okay because one guy couldn't make it. In fairness and to my amazement, they refunded me the sixth in full a couple of days later - I figured I'd no chance of seeing that three grand again.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Hmmm. That's not particularly reassuring, but I suppose asking for 6 away tickets all seated together is a bit of a tall order.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)

ffs sky presenter asking if suarez needs to go to ground. can't fucking help themselves even when it's a blatant foul.

Chris, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:39 (thirteen years ago)

Xp due to slow typing & multiple distractions

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:41 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah I don't think I'd do it again, even if I had the disposable income nowadays (was about £150 iirc, 'three grand' was a typo). What've you got in mind? Maybe the ILFvine could help you out?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

As I recall I was charging through a station on my phone at one point, barking "Are you fucking me? It sounds like you're fucking me". Not a moment I wish to repeat any time soon.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:48 (thirteen years ago)

Gah, off the post

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 20:50 (thirteen years ago)

dirty little fucker knew exactly what he was doing there

r|t|c, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:03 (thirteen years ago)

Goalie nearly took his head off; clear penalty imv.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:04 (thirteen years ago)

What've you got in mind?
I'm hoping to watch the cup match at Upton Park (in the United end, obviously). If I can't get a ticket 'legitimately' I might resort to an agency or a tout.

As I recall I was charging through a station on my phone at one point, barking "Are you fucking me? It sounds like you're fucking me". Not a moment I wish to repeat any time soon.
Pah - just a typical start to the day.

ffs
The in-laws have regained control of the TV and switched to QI so I don't know what this is aimed at.

A Yawning Chasm (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

Take a guess. Good goal chopped off a moment ago too.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:08 (thirteen years ago)

Shawcross should've walked there, unbelievable

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

never understood that 'if (world class player) had scored that we'd be raving about it'. you are raving about it!

Chris, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:38 (thirteen years ago)

Stoke were excellent

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:39 (thirteen years ago)

Oh hell, QPR away next - there's just no let-up at the moment

"Villa are painful to watch. They give the ball away an almost inconceivable number of times."

"i hate villa, almost a whole team of craig gardners"

Have drunkenly attempted to compose an "In Defense of Aston Villa" in the Benteke vs Bent / Eke poll over on ILF. Got so worked up that I had to stop several times and remind myself to breathe, but I got there eventually. More than prepared to go to the mattresses on behalf of this Villa side should anyone else come talking smack - Baker and Westwood losing 8-0 over N'Zogbia and Hutton losing 1-0 any day of the goddamn week

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 23:12 (thirteen years ago)

intrstn that walters can contrive to make taking even a sumptuous volley look like a steel toe-cap directed at a foreigner's head.

"Michu has been pushed back into Swansea's midfield to accommodate Luke Moore"

You're speaking the absolute truth, Windsor. Whether they go down or not, this side has a heart that's been sorely lacking for the last few seasons. It's just spurting blood all over the place at the moment. But eventually the flow will ebb and they'll get better.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:02 (thirteen years ago)

when the flow of blood ebbs from a heart, the outcome isn't usually 'recovered'

banlieue jagger (darraghmac), Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:08 (thirteen years ago)

So my metaphor sucks.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

19 Birmingham City 24 7 8 9 32 38 -6 29

At least at Villa the blood's not spewing from every orifice though, eh? lol

not sure about this formatting but it does a job

Windsor Davies, Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:20 (thirteen years ago)

Manager Harry Redknapp is furious with the 30-year old, and didn’t hesitate to reveal what his disgusted other players thought of Bosingwa’s behaviour.

‘The good lads would be sick,’ he told the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle.

‘There might be one or two of his pals who might think ‘Well, you know,’ but the Ryan Nelsens and Clint Hills and all the good lads all thought it was a disgrace.

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:56 (thirteen years ago)

There's a bit of a staring into the abyss vibe about Villa at the moment and they looked totally shellshocked against Tottenham, their goal difference at the moment is abysmal as well and if they can't reduce that before the end of the season they're basically playing with a point less than their rivals.

Can't see sacking the manager helping either, is there anyone out there who'd do a significantly better job with that lot than Lambert?

Matt DC, Thursday, 27 December 2012 00:58 (thirteen years ago)

ah jaysus no you wouldn't be talking about sacking yet- look at the wage bill and the transfer figures over the last few years, the club is in a period of controlled downsizing imo

banlieue jagger (darraghmac), Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:12 (thirteen years ago)

yeah mdc ott, they'll be alright. also villa always, always get a couple of random massive tonkings every season

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:26 (thirteen years ago)

if i'm honest i had that match figured as a 0-0 or maybe a narrow, scraped spurs win at best before we got the first (and but for a poor cross thirty seconds before we could have been a goal down without much complaint) so i dunno how shellshocked villa looked- wary, perhaps.

banlieue jagger (darraghmac), Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:33 (thirteen years ago)

cannot recall when villa have ever given spurs a game, was a win a mile off

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:39 (thirteen years ago)

I think they'll probably be alright as well but there are fewer genuinely shit teams in the Premiership than there have been in some recent seasons, maybe only five that might seriously go down. Not sure that either Wigan or Southampton are unquestionably worse than Villa.

Matt DC, Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:40 (thirteen years ago)

remember villa cunting us with two collymore cunts, and i'm p certain there was the odd loss since then (that were maybe 98?) but the trauma maybe stands out more as i'm mates with villa fans

banlieue jagger (darraghmac), Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:45 (thirteen years ago)

Then there was the day in August when he [Ashley Westwood] signed for Villa. He travelled from Crewe with his dad. Paul Lambert sat them in the manager's office and told them the facts of football life.

"The telly is what makes them look good," he said of the Premier League's exalted stars, "makes them look better than they are. It's a myth. You still play with the same sized ball you had at Crewe and you can do the same job here you did there."

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 December 2012 13:12 (thirteen years ago)

the telly adds 10 million pounds

actually that reminds me, cos under that westwood piece in last week's sunday times there was a feature on legendary cobblers biggest man in the football league adebayo akinfenwa with the following SHOCKING REVELATIONS:

grant holt - 12st 13lb
wayne roooney - 13st
kevin nolan - 14st 2lb
adebayo akinfenwa - 16st 7lb

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 December 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

those stats are often pretty inaccurate, like sturridge is listed at 6'2 on wikipedia

no way grant holt is under 13st

but yeah, akinfenwa is certainly king of bigs

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 27 December 2012 16:06 (thirteen years ago)

lower leagues would be more interesting if they imposed a >16st weight handicap on at least half the starting outfield players

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 27 December 2012 16:09 (thirteen years ago)

just went looking for more info on http://lesrosbifs.net but tbh nothing's gonna be better than this completely unrelated comment under an article about dommy p hero adebayo akinfenwa:

"There was one time when he was injured for us and his weight ballooned. My mate Chris was behind him in the queue for the self-checkout at Sainsbury’s and he had a can of coke, a mars bar and a bag of roasted chicken, singing along to Cat Stevens’ “Wild World” on his iPod."

google lists him at 14st but like nakh says he's surely not 6ft either

kev nolan's the shocker imo, i've never seen him put in that ballpark or noticed myself
