Hm I haven't had a night out since I moved, it's all been lunch and dinner dates. And today a brunch date.

jed_, Wednesday, 19 December 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)

Yah.

FREEEEEDOM. sigh. for a few weeks at least. this semester was like a marathon followed by a final sprint and i am very glad it's done.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 20 December 2012 01:11 (thirteen years ago)

:D!

clouds, Thursday, 20 December 2012 01:13 (thirteen years ago)

I had forgotten how exhausting school can become by semesters end. But it was all worth it. Still gonna relish the next couple weeks myself, though, even though a lot of it will be spent visiting/being visited by family and outta town friends.

I just ran into Alex at the gym but I'd done enough squats to pass out and the conversation was like this

Alex in Montreal?

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 20 December 2012 03:02 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah! Going to meet him for a drink right... now!

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 03:24 (thirteen years ago)

Alex is damn cool

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 20 December 2012 03:26 (thirteen years ago)

neglected to mention that he convinced me to go to the gym in the first place because it's good for me, instead of taking a nap post-four hour final final exam that ended at 6. i mean, he was right. i felt way better running than i would have napping. but still.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 20 December 2012 07:05 (thirteen years ago)

it's nice to have another friendly face in the neighbourhood over the next few weeks when everyone i know disappears for exciting and sunny and expensive places.

i identify so much with this article on cooking: http://www.xojane.com/relationships/im-a-bad-cook

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 09:57 (thirteen years ago)

(yes, whenever people yell at me about cooking i find i basically have to trawl the internet for articles about the stupid thing that will comfort me)

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 10:03 (thirteen years ago)

i find it unbelievable that in the comments there are STILL people yelling at her to cook

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 10:08 (thirteen years ago)

Hm I think you're aware that "I love cooking and can't imagine a life without it" = "I will cook for you at any time" =/= "Lex you should try cooking again". Me, I can't drive

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 13:50 (thirteen years ago)

Alex is damn cool, co-sign. And his straight couple roommates were very tolerant of my inevitable "have babies now!" speech

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 13:53 (thirteen years ago)

Only one of them is my roommate! The other is just my best girlfriend who is dating my roommate and thus stays over a lot.

They both thought you were really lovely, though. Even the baby speech.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 20 December 2012 14:29 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know if my apartment could really handle three people living here full time. The handful of nights pre-breakup when both of them AND JF and I were all here were pretty crowded. Although, I did get to make pancakes for a full kitchen, which was nice.

d & i have a (female) friend of ours living with us for a few months. it's been an adjustment. i love her and she's been nothing less a perfect, respectful roommate but man i can't wait for it to be the two of us again

i do not enjoy having to knock on my own bathroom door to see if anyone's in there, and i miss not caring whether that same door is open when i pee

i just had a really nice, friendly conversation with one of my housemates! i made him a cup of tea! i feel like i've done some my duty for the, er, month or something

(there are 4 of us and we do all like each other, no simmering unpleasantness or anything, but there's def a split in that two of us are proper friends with each other and the other two are friends with each other. i have done my bit in bridging the divide and feel virtuous)

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

my bf's parents are coming up to visit tomorrow and are staying at his place for two weeks :o

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Thursday, 20 December 2012 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

is that while the two of you visit here, dr?

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 20 December 2012 15:47 (thirteen years ago)

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Thursday, 20 December 2012 15:48 (thirteen years ago)

my bf has now gone to india for xmas and new year >:(

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)

i made him a cup of tea!

you mean you cooked him a cup of tea.

jed_, Thursday, 20 December 2012 17:43 (thirteen years ago)

why India? That sounds nice!

It's my grandma's 91st birthday tomorrow. I woke up early and booked my train ticket home. Realizing that I'd be out of the home until the 27th, I quickly took care of some dirty dishes, cooked what was in the fridge, ate some and put what was left in a container, took out the trash, packed, showered, dressed, locked up, and went to the nearest major intersection to flag a cab. No cab came, and still no cab, and then one came, after I'd sent several anguished texts at my bf, and then the cab was in gridlock, and I called my bf to see if he could refund or exchange my non-refundable non-exchangeable train ticket, and then I got snippy, and I tipped the cab driver but didn't thank him, and I thought about running back to tell the guy in that cube van that his double-parking made me miss my train, and I sat down and tried to phone my bf, and he didn't answer and I started to feel very strange, and I called instead my best friend and told him I was having a panic attack, because the next train gets in quite late and all my brothers have come from far further destinations than Montreal, with children, and I was the irresponsible one, and it was all because I couldn't leave a fridge full of food to spoil, and furthermore my boyfriend wouldn't answer the phone even though he knew I was going to call him, and I started to feel dizzy, and my best friend told me to visit the bathroom at the train station and masturbate and indulge in a violent sex fantasy, which made me laugh, and then my boyfriend called me back and I cried a little, and he yelled at me because he was caught in traffic and had to pull over to answer my call, and a few minutes later things started to seem OK again, I bought a sparkling water and found some wireless, and now things are great again. It's amazing what anxiety can do, it's like a tropical storm.

travel, cars, ppl

tell the kids it's 卵 (clouds), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:41 (thirteen years ago)

When strangers get angsty about these things and have a tearful phonecall in public there's a part of me that wants to tell them to chill out or go home, but man it sucks to be in that position

There should be public brooding closets in all train stations and airports

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

yikes. i always try to leave super-early for flights/trains because i'm scared of precisely that sort of thing happening

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Thursday, 20 December 2012 18:52 (thirteen years ago)

I hate travel for many of the reasons fgti just experienced. Also, I am the irresponsible one.

Also, lol @ "public brooding closets"

still hoping I can spend Xmas housebound and alone. Best option.

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:03 (thirteen years ago)

As I get older I want less fuss but Xmas Eve is the only holiday I can't imagine spending alone.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:05 (thirteen years ago)

New Year's Eve is the only holiday I'm usually totally cool with being alone. (I don't observe Valentine's Day.)

Zero Dark 33⅓: The Final Insult (Eric H.), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

Alfred, Morbs--you are both welcome over on Xmas eve. There'll be plenty of food.

Public Brooding Closet (cryptosicko), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:16 (thirteen years ago)

aaah goon tie's experience = any time i have to leave the house

when i'm actually *travelling* (like, if it involves a suitcase and a train out of london/flight) it's actually easier because i'm so paranoid - if it's just getting myself together to go into town, that's pretty much my default setting :( i do love travelling and wish i could do more of it, though.

bf goes travelling in every school holiday, basically. he likes getting away from it all and going to out-of-the-way countryside places on a whim to do nothing. it's funny how completely opposite we are, when i travel i gravitate towards cities and places where shit happens and i start to fret if i'm out of range of one for too long.

i hate, hate, hate xmas and particularly resent it this year. alone and housebound is my dream as well. when people tell me to stop being a grinch i'm just like, i'm happy for u that u have a tolerable family, but also fuck off. NYE otoh (and the week leading up to it) is the celebration of my urban family, my friends, the people i consider my real family tbh. every day from the 28th through to NYE is packed out now and i can't wait :)

lex pretend, Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:22 (thirteen years ago)

i used to really love xmas (i was still making xmas chains when i was like, seventeen) but i've cooled on it considerably as an adult and the having to buy presents part hasn't even registered with me yet. really relieved i'm doing my traveling post-NYD, may just do this forever from now on

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

xmas chains

hmmmmmm?

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:46 (thirteen years ago)

ah, maybe not as widespread a practice in my burg of youth

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

Best part of Xmas is buds in town. Just got.invited to.karaoke with two newly single women and their gay pal, who I intend to purloin from his boyfriend

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:48 (thirteen years ago)

can't you just put it in a stocking for a week?

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

The boyfriend?

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 20 December 2012 19:57 (thirteen years ago)

I'm excited to see all my brothers
I'll try and get a photo
They are all exceptionally handsome and tall (even more so when I'm standing amongst them)

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 20:10 (thirteen years ago)

That is, they all tower over me and I'm six feet :/

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 20 December 2012 20:11 (thirteen years ago)
