It's where Doug Yule recorded the indignities Lou Reed inflicted on him.

You hate food, song and sex, Morbs?

I mean, I only hate one of those three.

Zero Dark 33⅓: The Final Insult (Eric H.), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

I thought "sex" made your list four.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

BFs /= sex

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

and food is meant to prepared by others to save me precious time

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

I could easily have a boyfriend without sex in the equation.

Zero Dark 33⅓: The Final Insult (Eric H.), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

I view cooking as a way to avoid listening to music, toying with the computer, or watching movies.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 17 December 2012 16:52 (thirteen years ago)

all of those things are better than cooking though, like why would i ever want to avoid them? apart from the internet obv but in that case i'm usually trying to avoid work and don't have time to cook

lex pretend, Monday, 17 December 2012 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

the only reason I do any paid work at all is so that I can afford nice ingredients to cook with

jawn valjawn (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 17 December 2012 17:18 (thirteen years ago)

Nice ingredients to eat drink with.

Zero Dark 33⅓: The Final Insult (Eric H.), Monday, 17 December 2012 17:19 (thirteen years ago)

ll of those things are better than cooking though, like why would i ever want to avoid them?

cuz I'm doing them all day, even at work?

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 17 December 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)

Cooking is my default setting for procrastination. Typically I know when work is going badly when I'm running out to buy chickens to roast for everybody

you, your max is on fire (flamboyant goon tie included), Monday, 17 December 2012 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

i made a humongous pot of chili last night btw

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Monday, 17 December 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

gonna be my dinner the rest of the week

gonna get real sick of chili after this week

curly moe shempsen (donna rouge), Monday, 17 December 2012 20:09 (thirteen years ago)

i did the same thing with a peanut soup, except my pot wasn't big enough, so i had an overflow pot.

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Monday, 17 December 2012 20:24 (thirteen years ago)

i always do this when payday is in a week and i have ten dollars.

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Monday, 17 December 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

(hat tip to ilx poster crabbits for the awesome peanut soup recipe btw)

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Monday, 17 December 2012 20:26 (thirteen years ago)

i've always been in the same boat as lex w/r/t cooking, but a few weeks ago i decided i could no longer stand the crappy diet i've been on since moving to NYC and living solo. that frustration + the ILX paleo diet thread inspired me to look up some simple paleo recipes and give them a try and whoa! i can totally do this. it's like i have magic hands--everything that used to seem so impossible and unbearable to me is suddenly so easy. feels great to cut down on all the bread products and pasta i'd been overdoing. not being strict too strict with the paleo thing, though--mainly using it for meal ideas.

i'm amused at how cooking and traveling were two things i always avoided in my previous relationship but now i'm regularly doing both.

oh, crypto, i know who Susan Holbrook is, i like her all right but she's sometimes a bit too trad for my tastes. i hope that you cover the greatest living canadian poet in that class— LISA ROBERTSON. best teacher, most excellent person, and one of the most bad-ass poets i've ever met. she had an entire issue of the Chicago Review dedicated to her a while ago, so it would be weird if she wasn't covered. also, Clint Burnham, Peter Culley, and a few other notables from the Kootenay School out here on the west coast.

hilarious topless cookie chef (the table is the table), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 05:51 (thirteen years ago)

in terms of cooking, i still don't get how people don't cook. it literally boggles my mind.

hilarious topless cookie chef (the table is the table), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 05:52 (thirteen years ago)

jesus christ i have explained this multiple times now and if i try again people will yell at ME for harping on about it. short version, once again: i am terrible and woeful and inept at it and everything goes wrong if i try, and relatedly i really dislike it.

lex pretend, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 08:26 (thirteen years ago)

I wonder how much money we could raise to cover the costs of getting ted and lex in a room together and then locking that room and then filming it for a while

jawn valjawn (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 08:40 (thirteen years ago)

lol. I don't know about lex, having not met him in person (although I'm sure he is too), but ted's a totally nice guy irl.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 12:01 (thirteen years ago)

oh lex, i wasn't trying to chastise you, it is just so foreign to me, you know? that said, seems like yr man has you covered :-)

hilarious topless cookie chef (the table is the table), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

lex is a terrific guy irl and never once did we discuss indie

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 20:02 (thirteen years ago)

guys i'm gonna vent for a sec

i take out the trash every damn time. i put away the clean dishes before stacking more on top. i dont shove shit into the fridge until getting things out is like playing a game of jenga (ok sometimes i do this).

before i left this morning i did this really lame passive aggressive thing and put the kitchen garbage in the middle of the floor with the lid off. MAYBE HE'LL TAKE THE DAMN THING OUT, IT'S BEEN FULL FOR FOUR DAYS! he'll be annoyed at passive aggression and i'll feel selfish, lame and diminished, but maybe i won't have to empty the garbage this time.

ughhh

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 21:38 (thirteen years ago)

roommate?

clouds, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

boyfriend

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 21:42 (thirteen years ago)

Remind him that bestiality holds no attraction for you: you won't fuck a pig.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)

although that is depressingly otm as of late xp.

lol, i'm the one who always ends up asking for sex. he can go for months. also it can never be before midnight. also his bedtime is 4 am and he gets up at 1 every day and in spite of all the times i've tried to be profoundly ok with this i can never manage to get there.

*sigh*

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 21:53 (thirteen years ago)

ok i'm done. this is gross.

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 22:00 (thirteen years ago)

what does he do in the daytime that allows him to get up at 1pm? does he work late?

jed_, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 22:15 (thirteen years ago)

he works in the afternoon for five hours and a graveyard one night a week.

Tome Cruise (Matt P), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 22:19 (thirteen years ago)

ok what time does he finish on a normal day? and what age is he?

jed_, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 22:33 (thirteen years ago)

My bf cooks, so I don't have to. I recommend his seafood pasta with blush sauce if any of you are ever in the neighbourhood.

I thought not having to go months w/o sex was one of the main reason we dated guys.

Room 227 (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 18 December 2012 22:40 (thirteen years ago)

Tonight at gay bar nightcap. 1) Cute bartender from the place I do trivia every week came up to me and said "I wasn't going to NOT say hi to you." 2) Told ex he was going to have to basically rape me if he wanted it.

Hm I haven't had a night out since I moved, it's all been lunch and dinner dates. And today a brunch date.

FREEEEEDOM. sigh. for a few weeks at least. this semester was like a marathon followed by a final sprint and i am very glad it's done.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 20 December 2012 01:11 (thirteen years ago)

:D!

clouds, Thursday, 20 December 2012 01:13 (thirteen years ago)

I had forgotten how exhausting school can become by semesters end. But it was all worth it. Still gonna relish the next couple weeks myself, though, even though a lot of it will be spent visiting/being visited by family and outta town friends.

Room 227 (cryptosicko), Thursday, 20 December 2012 02:06 (thirteen years ago)

I just ran into Alex at the gym but I'd done enough squats to pass out and the conversation was like this
