"I feel very happy with my training, I feel great about the tests," Marquez told the Los Angeles Times. "I won't have a problem."

http://metro.co.uk/2012/12/11/toys-replace-tickets-for-amir-khans-poor-selling-carlos-molina-fight-3311543/
Ticket sales for Amir Khan’s Los Angeles fight against Carlos Molina on Saturday night have been so slow that punters will be able to gain admittance with a toy.Khan has billed the bout as ‘make or break’ as he bids to resurrect his career against the unbeaten Molina at the 17,000-capacity LA Memorial Sports Arena. However, the fight has failed to capture the American boxing public’s imagination, so promoters Golden Boy have devised a charitable solution to their empty-seats conundrum.Fans can exchange an unwrapped, unopened toy worth at least $15 (about £9) for two tickets, which have been on sale for a top price of around £100 each. The toys will then be distributed to disadvantaged families in time for Christmas.

12th round should lock it up for alvarado
― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 31 March 2013 04:12 (eleven years ago) link
that was so fucking unbelievable and all the Gatti-Ward comparisons are right on. Alvarado headed to hospital for CT scan hope nothing seriously wrong. That post-fight interview was great even. Jesus Christ what a total pleasure that fight was, just incredible.

boxing really having a great year. Takayama-Rodriguez was as good as several previous fights of the year, but this year it'll have to settle for 3rd at best.

Donaire-Rigondeux on right now. First fight at Radio City since 2000. 1st round was awesome - not a brawl, just beautiful boxing.
― not feeling those lighters (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 April 2013 03:30 (eleven years ago) link
next two were also great, all Rigondeaux for the most part. 4th round sucked
― not feeling those lighters (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 April 2013 03:46 (eleven years ago) link
Rigo looks like the best fighter in the world, Donaire's effort is pathetic
― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 14 April 2013 04:10 (eleven years ago) link
reminder that Max Kellerman said Nonito Donaire was the greatest fighter he'd ever seen south of 126
― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 14 April 2013 04:18 (eleven years ago) link
Nonito is usually a much better fighter imo, though I think Rigondeaux gets the credit for making him look bad. All non-boxer commentators except Al Bernstein are horrible.
― not feeling those lighters (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 April 2013 04:46 (eleven years ago) link
there's getting outboxed and then there's getting outboxed and giving up. Nonito just followed him around and let the first 8 rounds bleed away. His corner deserves some of the blame for not owning up to what was happening though.
― Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 14 April 2013 04:53 (eleven years ago) link

kellerman's not a total idiot, actually knows his shit imo but also knows what he has to do to stay viable as an on-air commentator i.e. be a dumbass.
my choices tonight were stay home to see canelo-trout or go out and see they live in 35mm and I'm goin' out. enjoy the fight, I don't see canelo's people giving him a fight he can't win
― not feeling those lighters (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 20 April 2013 23:06 (eleven years ago) link
a lot of people are picking Trout, not sure I see it
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 20 April 2013 23:23 (eleven years ago) link
I'm home in time to see it! stoked. conflicted - I don't love Canelo but popular fighters = good for the sport. A Trout win...well, he's not the guy who drew 40k to this arena. Still I'd sort of like him to pull a rabbit outta the hat here
― not feeling those lighters (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 21 April 2013 03:01 (eleven years ago) link
unless canelo screws up, gets loose w/ his d, i dont think hes losing this
