It was super boring -- I watched about 45 min and it never got any better. The Richard Burton actor was as dull as the emery board floating around at the bottom of Liz Taylor's purse.

Cannot believe I haven't seen this

some girls, they rape so easy (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)

I watched the first 20 minutes of Liz and Dick and found it super boring.

My excuse was that I was folding laundry when I was watching it, but even then when I met up with some friends this weekend they were shaking their head at me for bothering to watch this. I feel ashamed.

I feel like its two huge trashy guilty pleasures colliding. How can you not want to witness that?

some girls, they rape so easy (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

Because they collided in a boring way, like yogurt slopping onto a linoleum floor.

passion it person (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:08 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know how that's possible but I shall find out soon enough, I'm sure.

some girls, they rape so easy (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:09 (thirteen years ago)

You'll be impressed by how boring it is!

passion it person (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

Also the scenes are all like 45 sec long

passion it person (La Lechera), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

Haha. Good lord.

Meanwhile, in Lilo's IMDB quotes section:
"It's so weird that I went to rehab. I always said I would die before I went to rehab"
Give it some time, LL.

some girls, they rape so easy (sunny successor), Tuesday, 11 December 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

Somehow her becoming a The Wanted groupie is more depressing to me than her stints in jail or rehab.

three weeks pass...

This is a pretty great (and sad) story. Makes me feel worse about Paul Schrader than Lindsay.

Wow, thanks for the link -- what a fascinating read.

yeah that was great, thanks

I loved this exchange:

Schrader mentioned that he was still trying to cast a psychiatrist, a small but pivotal role.

“I called Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe. They’re not available. So, any ideas?”

Lohan squealed and said, “How about Jared?”

Schrader nodded approvingly.

“Jared Harris?”

“No, Jared Leto.”

Solange and thanks for all the fish (Nicole), Thursday, 10 January 2013 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

I wasn't surprised LiLo and Schrader are broke, but what did Bret Easton Ellis do with all his money? (Never mind, I can guess.)

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 10 January 2013 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

you think the energy for twitter beefs with deceased authors just comes from nowhere?

j., Thursday, 10 January 2013 19:40 (thirteen years ago)

i actually feel like it's kind of wrong for NYT to play up Lohan in the headline when her presence is only like the 5th most batshit aspect of the entire story

captain keefaroo (some dude), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:02 (thirteen years ago)

Parts of it reminded me of Bowfinger. Like the sneaking-into-the-mall.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:12 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha YES

captain keefaroo (some dude), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

omg Bowfinger. too true, and awesome. great article.

the bit about the soda ad - that's why people give a shit about her.

surm, Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't watched Bowfinger in the longest time, I need to watch it again.

Solange and thanks for all the fish (Nicole), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:15 (thirteen years ago)

still has me on the floor laughing that one

surm, Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:20 (thirteen years ago)

Bofinger is great!

Canaille help you (Michael White), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:24 (thirteen years ago)

Meanwhile, Ellis, Pope and Schrader battled over the film’s final cut. Pope screened a rough cut of “The Canyons” for Steven Soderbergh. Intrigued, Soderbergh offered to do an edit of the movie if he was given the footage for 72 hours.

Schrader said no.

Ah well...

*sigh*

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 10 January 2013 20:52 (thirteen years ago)

amazing photo

surm, Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:00 (thirteen years ago)

He should have said yes to Soderbergh, if only to see what became of it.

Canaille help you (Michael White), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

eh considering how much he bent over backwards to make a movie where no studio or actor could have any control of the final product, it makes sense that he'd pass on that

trey songza (some dude), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:11 (thirteen years ago)

does anyone think that this movie is going to be anything more than a curio? the parts where the writer praised scenes kinda came off as BS (tho not intentional) to me

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:12 (thirteen years ago)

well everything can't be an eagerly anticipated masterpiece like Spring Breakers

trey songza (some dude), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:14 (thirteen years ago)

I will def watch it when it's released, based on this article

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, as much of a trainwreck as it sounds like, the article is probably the best PR it can get.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:21 (thirteen years ago)

Like, when you watch the orgy scene, now you can picture a naked Paul Schrader behind the camera...

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:22 (thirteen years ago)

i kind of think once an article this entertaining has been written, the movie can only be a companion piece to it as opposed to vice versa

trey songza (some dude), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

That was an awesome read and otm re Bowfinger

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:26 (thirteen years ago)

As long as colleges still screen movies, there'll be an afterlife. if anyone gets through the first 15 minutes.

Chief Duff (Eazy), Thursday, 10 January 2013 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

I enjoyed that article but have never seen Bowfinger. Now I'm thinking I should.
