I've only come round to saying hard G in the last 5 years or so. Since I first came across them on Compuserve I pronounced it soft G, and since I never heard said it loud or heard it said by anyone else, I just always assumed it was so and said soft G, convinced I was right. But there's no point swimming against the tide of truth.
