I can attest that the Colombian Supremo coffee is sweet, like caramel. It may be the lightest, least oily coffee sold by Trader Joe's.

I am waiting for the tea that is sold in winter with lemurs on the package.

youn, Monday, 26 November 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)

I misread that as 'tea that is sold in winter by lemurs' and was all !!!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 26 November 2012 23:21 (thirteen years ago)

The background color is light blue and is perfectly right for a cold numb milky winter palliative beverage.

It's a living!

the TJ's colombian supremo was the best coffee I found there, but it's nowhere near as good as the considerably cheaper kirkland colombian supremo at costco

think i'm in love with the morningstar farms tomato & basil pizza burger (they have them in the freezer section). i just crisped up a few in the cast-iron and they were really flavorful and had a good texture.

The almonds in a dusty cocoa shell with sea salt embedded in it

Is that the same thing as the almonds w dark choc, sea salt, and turbinado sugar? With the yellow label?

I got:
Lemur tea
Chicken verde burritos
Lemon pepper pappardelle
Cheddar gruyere melange (for mac)
some staple-y things.

I will report back.

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 28 November 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 28 November 2012 22:39 (thirteen years ago)

Omg they're the best and they're hardly sweet at all.

grossly incorrect register (in orbit), Wednesday, 28 November 2012 22:42 (thirteen years ago)

Blueberry muesli for sure. With yogurt and their dried raspberries which are super cheap for some reason. Not reinventing the wheel here, ppl.

tobo73, Thursday, 29 November 2012 01:50 (thirteen years ago)

their dried raspberries are cheap? how soon can I get myself to a TJ right now?

乒乓, Thursday, 29 November 2012 01:52 (thirteen years ago)

Cheap compared to WF at least, but maybe that's not saying much

tobo73, Thursday, 29 November 2012 05:11 (thirteen years ago)

Someone please suggest cookie recipes that I could throw dried raspberries in.

endless budgie (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 29 November 2012 05:22 (thirteen years ago)

carl agatha, Thursday, 29 November 2012 17:19 (thirteen years ago)

Cheddar gruyere melange (for mac)

this is the best trader joe's cheese product

sarahell, Thursday, 29 November 2012 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

Yo, chicken verde burrito was like "oh hey this is p tasty" and then I realized that it costs me, like, less than $2 and I was all "OH FUCK THIS IS BOMB AS HELL"

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 29 November 2012 20:02 (thirteen years ago)

all the burritos look like diarrhea inside but taste kind of incredible

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 November 2012 20:04 (thirteen years ago)

all frozen buritos everywhere look like diarrhea inside

oatmeal seems a obvious answer (hint: a little wheat germ tossed into oatmeal cookie dough makes cookies that are even chewier).

Oh shit SLC's getting a Trader Joe's? After years of me telling the tales they'll finally know they were not lies.

ENERGY FOOD (en i see kay), Sunday, 2 December 2012 04:11 (thirteen years ago)

Lemon pepper pappardelle was pretty good
Pacific flounder w/ crab meat stuffing was WHOA awesome

jawn valjawn (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 5 December 2012 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

Thanks for cookie tips guys! I think I'm going to do the oatmeal thing first. And then branch out in a program of endless experimentation. Once I remember to get the raspberries.

endless budgie (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 6 December 2012 03:14 (thirteen years ago)

one month passes...

I had to throw out the rest of the lemur tea. For some reason, it wasn't the same this year, maybe because I have been drinking tea from Grace Tea, or maybe because the tea has changed. The first bag was really sweet and tasted strongly of cinnamon; the rest were stale and were not helped by milk. Apples are still an excellent value and fresh at the Trader Joe's in Irvine, CA. I forgot to check for Nantes carrots.

Sweet potato gnocchi w/ butter and sage was terrible; I couldn't even finish it. So bland and so greasy!

TJ's has like 20 different kinds of cheddar cheese. Which is the sharpest? Which is your favorite?

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 January 2013 04:26 (thirteen years ago)

I've been on a cold streak with TJ's and I'm buying less and less there. Costco is outdoing them on nearly everything. I still like the pound-plus chocolate bars and the little nut packages ("just a handful of" -- they even have one with chocolate now).

space phwoar (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 16 January 2013 04:34 (thirteen years ago)

I got a tub of their Greens Powder to add to my smoothies. I'm not convinced of the usefulness of greens powder anyway and the TJ's version was ~1/4 the cost of anything at Whole Foods.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 16 January 2013 05:44 (thirteen years ago)

try the cheddar/gruyere "melange"

sarahell, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 06:19 (thirteen years ago)

I have, it's good, but I just want a straight cheddar.

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 January 2013 06:44 (thirteen years ago)

Anything that's been aged. The longer they've aged it, the sharper and more delicious it will be.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 14:30 (thirteen years ago)

I like the Black Diamond white cheddar. It's one of the sliced ones.
