that is a list of the restaurants in the "area" (the area of town where people go when they are going out to dinner or shopping or both, usually) of my hometown. y'all are some urbane mfers if going to chili's/macaroni grill/applebee's isn't somewhat familiar to you. i'm not saying i love to go to these places, but they're not where martians congregate.

One year I couldn't go home for Thanksgiving and didn't realize that the grocery store would be closed so wound up having to eat at Boston Market by myself. It was the saddest Thanksgiving ever.

i ate at an old country buffet for thanksgiving once, that was not fun but it was also a little bit charming and i tried to smile at people. make the best of it.

My first date as a teen was at TGI Friday's

i mean, i definitely ate at all these joints and worked at a few too! I think i did a year at The Cooker and definitely a year at an Applebee's.
The thing is that once you eat and work there and then move to a place where they're not your only option, you develop a deep abiding dislike of them as institutions and places to eat. It's not "Oh these yokels with their underdefined tastebuds"; it's "why in god's name would you go there when there's literally a thousand different options in walking distance"

PF Chang's is classic "somebody at the office has a birthday let's do lunch" place.

Loved Chi Chi's as a kid, but c'mon it was pretty gross

applebees is not overpriced! check it- two entrees and an appetizer for $20. sure the entrees consist entirely of celery but what are you going to do?
