the thing about applebees and chilis and outback and olive garden and calhouns and any chain sit-down family/fun restaurant is that they are not made for big urban centers where there are real bars and interesting places to go. like they're totally not going to kill you if they're your only option but if you're in new york or boston or miami or honolulu why the fuck would you go to a tgifridays?

I think for some it is a fear of the unknown -- why eat a restaurant where you don't know if the meal is going to be good or not vs. knowing exactly what you're going to get at tgifridays.
