i mean i don't think anything bad is going to happen but there's just a lot of time elapsed and now it's finally going to culminate, first with dinner tonight and then with us attending family thanksgiving together next week. it's a big milestone.

d. is kinda being weird with all the anxiety over this. can't say i blame him, tho.

continuing benefits of seeing M:

- homemade lasagne (pasta from scratch again! who knew this was a possible thing) and apple & rhubarb cobbler last night OMG BOTH SO NICE
- homemade cinnamon bagels in bed this morning

plus it transpired at the weekend that his favourite way of dealing with a hangover is to make a huge roast dinner with all the trimmings

he has called me a "good eater" :)

we need a dinner party to which elmo's parents can come and lex's boy can cook a huge roast breakfast with all the trimmings for our hangovers.

well, my dad and his not-wife know and like dustin. the introduction to other side of the family has been harder to negotiate, due to some devout catholic nonsense and my own unresolved anxieties.

which anxieties, i hasten to add, are presently being resolved.

we had a pleasant dinner and talked. my mom had a martini, and i found myself trying to remember the last time i saw her have a drink. i couldn't remember. she's an ACOA so that was a little surprising, but i guess she was a little anxious too.

and i'm really glad that d. got to meet her, and got to see a few of her quirks. she's a little bit of a conspiracy theorist, but only about certain things. so when the JFK assassination came up in conversation (i can't recall how) d. got to see a little bit of that.

"So was Oswald the gunman?" I asked her.
"Oswald was NOT the shooter. Oswald was in a cafe eating lunch and waiting for a phone call," she scoffed, like I should already KNOW this stuff.

Then she mentioned something about Dorothy Kilgallen? I don't know.

Glad to her lex got a chef as well as a squeeze. I keep a continuous stream of roasts and tarts and fancy salads coming from the kitchen when bf is around. When he's not around I eat Vietnamese.

It is official, I am moving to Montreal at the end of the month. The main reasons are work and rent. The distant third reason is I am ready to give up my nights of drag shows and DJ nights for yoga and gluten-free dinner parties

last thing i cooked for my bf was bacon/eggs/toast (his fridge is better-stocked than mine)

last night, i made steak, turmeric rice, and steamed kale that came with a delightfully zippy dressing. my boyfriend was very pleased.

this morning, he cut up the remaining steak and made a marinade so as to assemble Banh Mi tonight.

oh also, guys, I GOT A FUCKING JOB. i've been "unemployed" since July of 2010, which means i've been working a lot at doing gigs and....uh....whatnot, but jesus. a fucking JOB. and it pays so well.

It's as much about that awesome band as it is about J.D.'s homocore zine, Toronto in the 80s, watching G.B. Jones smoke, Bruce LaBruce being a hilarious jerk, etc. You should go! I'm going.
