It's hard for me to justify buying Asian foodstuffs at TJ's when I'm a 5-10 minute bike ride from about 5 huge Asian supermarkets

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 14 November 2012 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

the mochi ice cream at TJ is about a dollar cheaper than most asian supermarkets.

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 14 November 2012 00:48 (thirteen years ago)

never had it but wei chaun DUMPLINGS! are the same price as/cheaper than TJ's and also better

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 14 November 2012 00:53 (thirteen years ago)

Texture of bao is pretty bad. I eat them, but I keep each bite off my molars until I've chewed past the springiness.

I peel mochi and enjoy the ice cream.

i love the frozen chicken Gorgonzola, but it's a 2-serving (or even three) package.

― nickn, Tuesday, November 13, 2012 3:45 PM

Agreed - it's too much, but I like it as a lunch option. Also, relatively low carb.

Jaq, Wednesday, 14 November 2012 02:32 (thirteen years ago)

I hauled a few different frozens after work - chicken verde burritos, japanese fried rice, palak paneer and tikka masala...weee I'm so excited to eat not-boring lunch now

Their tamales are pretty solid.

My kids love their Ritz crackers so much that they don't even know Ritz crackers exits. They just call them all Golden Rounds.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 14 November 2012 03:21 (thirteen years ago)

TJs asian foodstuffs are pretty underwhelming all-in-all. what is not underwhelming is the great deal on smoked salmon (though it has gone up a little in the past month). Also goat creamy cheese is a healthy lo-cal thing to put on toast.

sarahell, Wednesday, 14 November 2012 05:34 (thirteen years ago)

chicken verde burrito otm - had it for lunch today. even with the crappy microwave doing a pisspoor job of cooking it evenly, it was p tasty. or maybe it was just that I was so hungry I could have happily eaten my hand.

Trader Dahmer's Frozen Human Hand is also a pretty good bargain

ciderpress, Friday, 16 November 2012 22:08 (thirteen years ago)

Awesome sandwich: split a small baguette, butter one side, spread fig butter on the other, put prosciutto di parma in the middle. Arugula optional.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 November 2012 22:16 (thirteen years ago)

new product: pecan pie ice cream tastes exactly how it sounds.

Philip Nunez, Saturday, 17 November 2012 00:24 (thirteen years ago)

omg that sounds supreme

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 17 November 2012 04:52 (thirteen years ago)

be carefull with yer nips dude

Brian Eno's Mother (Latham Green), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 20:03 (thirteen years ago)

I wish they had more snacks in the "just a handful" format (they have two of their trail mixes and plain almonds) -- as a dude who can't not eat as much as you put in front of me, this is very helpful.

drunk 'n' white's elements of style (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 20:10 (thirteen years ago)

mmm japanese stirfry is frighteningly good. like, I could eat the whole bag in one go kinda good.

I can attest that the Colombian Supremo coffee is sweet, like caramel. It may be the lightest, least oily coffee sold by Trader Joe's.

I am waiting for the tea that is sold in winter with lemurs on the package.

youn, Monday, 26 November 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)

I misread that as 'tea that is sold in winter by lemurs' and was all !!!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 26 November 2012 23:21 (thirteen years ago)

The background color is light blue and is perfectly right for a cold numb milky winter palliative beverage.

nickn, Monday, 26 November 2012 23:48 (thirteen years ago)

the TJ's colombian supremo was the best coffee I found there, but it's nowhere near as good as the considerably cheaper kirkland colombian supremo at costco

drunk 'n' white's elements of style (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 00:39 (thirteen years ago)

got some lemur tea this weekend

think i'm in love with the morningstar farms tomato & basil pizza burger (they have them in the freezer section). i just crisped up a few in the cast-iron and they were really flavorful and had a good texture.

les rallizes miserables (get bent), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 02:50 (thirteen years ago)

I got:
Lemur tea
Chicken verde burritos
Lemon pepper pappardelle
