Had brunch with wife's fam at Ocean Grill. Is this place supposed to be good? SUCKED.

Not only was food bad and overpriced, but tables were super cramped in so that I could barely breathe, waiter couldn't get around the table and had to hand stuff to us, and at the end of the meal they gave us customer-satisfaction cards! Which I actually wanted to fill out and complain except I was more insulted by the idea of having to fill one out in a proper restaurant at all.

srsly tho all their restaurants hand out comment cards, it is totally weird to do so when you're trying to kind of elevate your brand to high mid-end to throw in comment cards.

the couple times i've been in one of their restaurants, i've really been tempted to write filthy cracks on these comment cards, i gotta be honest. literally the only thing stopping me is pity for the waiter.

yes, the reina, which is basically chicken salad with avocado was great. Not as many veggie-friendly options as Caracas, who's new location in Williamsburg is larger then the nightmare that is the one in the east village.

oh! buttermilk channel in south carroll gardens is very good. we had sweet potato & goat cheese croquettes which were delicious, then alex had the thurs rabbit special and i ate the duck meatloaf. both dishes were very tasty! a little $$$$ but whatever, it was nice there. owner was all gregarious and shit too since it's newish. they also had a merlot from brooklyn oenology that i'd never tried that was quite nice, kind of smoky. a++

tonite i think we're going to try char no. 4!

my wife and a friend went to that $35 prix fixe thing at Matsugen and said it was real good value. also said the place was real empty.

I ate at Bellavitea last week and kinda wondered how Tipsy wound up liking it.

oops, just saw this. we liked it, straightforward as advertised. i just got the cacio e pepe, which was good and peppery, my wife had the roast chicken. we had good appetizers that i don't even remember. oh, i got the roast cauliflower thing. anyway, it was nice. good wine list too, at least from our limited sampling.

somewhat randomly ate at mole on allen st. last night (it was next to the subway stop, was the main deciding factor). not bad. i liked the vegetarian tacos, guac was decent. margaritas were pretty good and $7 instead of $10 or whatever.

delmano is nice for a before-dinner drink. later on I imagine it gets too packed

they turn people away before it gets to crowded - i went there a bunch when a friend worked there - its cool tho those bartenders in vests places arent really my speed
