man, i am really happy they got the memo about things moving too slow on this show
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 05:32 (thirteen years ago)
so Lori choosing to give birth/die was like... one of the most gobsmackingly stupid things I've ever seen in my life? I guess cool that they're dropping all the dead weight though. I meant I just I don't even I mean what I mean
Anyways good luck feeding that baby I guess?
― Clay, Monday, 5 November 2012 12:49 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah that scene was kinda dumb. That baby's going to be dead weight though.
Also RIP T-Dog, an extra even in death.
― You're a pushy lil bastard, ain't ya? But I like that. (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 5 November 2012 13:46 (thirteen years ago)
yup, golf clap for AMC's rationing of minority characters
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 13:47 (thirteen years ago)
if Lori hadn't done that, and the baby died... would it have gone zombie inside of her?
Great "WHAT'S IN THE BOX" impression by Rick at the end. That dude is kind of a terrible actor.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Monday, 5 November 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)
rick's actor is a total ham, but i like him anyway
― turds (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 5 November 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)
Echoing lolzy treatment of T. I had been thinking that they really had to give him some kind of character this year, with a little arc, but no, they couldn't be bothered. Just killed him.
― Gukbe, Monday, 5 November 2012 16:41 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i kinda love Rick's hamminess too
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 17:47 (thirteen years ago)
it was funny because only 5 minutes earlier i was thinking 't-dog's gonna be ok, they cant kill the only black guy'
― turds (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 5 November 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)
I just started the third season, and wow, that first ep was great. Very much akin to the relentless, anything-goes vibe of the comic, and it didn't skimp on the gore, either.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 5 November 2012 19:25 (thirteen years ago)
Not reading thread because I'm only half through season 2, but -- what is the actual mode of new zombie production? Like, it seems like when zombies find a live human they eat the whole thing -- so what's the mechanism by which e.g. Sophia returns as a zombie? Like, when they caught her they just took a bite and then left her alone so she'd go zombie? Why?
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 5 November 2012 20:17 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah some are so eviscerated that you wonder but I guess we just assume she got a bite and ran away, and then eventually turned when she was on her own.
― Gukbe, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:20 (thirteen years ago)
Maybe some savvy zombies at work?
S3E2 pretty great, too.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:24 (thirteen years ago)
eephus - there is an explanation by the end of the season
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)
really? is there a whole mythology and whatnot going on? i thought it was just "oh shit zombies" and then let it play.
― Gukbe, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)
/never read the comic books
That explanation explains some stuff, but not why there would be partially eaten zombies milling about. Zombies generally members of the clean plate club, you'd think.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)
ah, it's just part of their bizarre dichotomy of having SUPER STRONG JAWS AND TEETH but their other body parts get taken off by a gust of wind
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:55 (thirteen years ago)
OK, S3E3 was kind of crap, but it did an OK job conflating two comic book story lines.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:57 (thirteen years ago)
Thank goodness this show isn't airing under the Bush administration, or even its heaviest heavy handed bits would be even more heavy handed.
Also, we'd have Bush.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 5 November 2012 20:58 (thirteen years ago)
that was a discussion last night - if Lori hadn't had Maggie do the impromptu c-section and the fetus died, would it turn into a zombie (because we're all infected!!!!) inside of her, or would it have just been a stillbirth since it was never born and thus not a person and only people can be zombies?
would have loved a show that decided to settle the abortion debate that way, tbh
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Monday, 5 November 2012 21:09 (thirteen years ago)
by the show's logic i gather we'd have gotten zombie lori + zombie baby, which would've been V-levels of amazing camp
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 21:15 (thirteen years ago)
I wish I had a clip of that zombie baby from The Soup this week, that was so good.
― Sug ban (Nicole), Monday, 5 November 2012 21:22 (thirteen years ago)
we're not going to be shocked with Lori turns up again alive and the boy didn't shoot her, are we?
― Gukbe, Monday, 5 November 2012 21:26 (thirteen years ago)
not really, but i doubt it... i mean that kid is plenty shaping up to be a stone-cold killer
― Nhex, Monday, 5 November 2012 21:34 (thirteen years ago)
There was a zombie baby in Zach Snyder's "Dawn" remake!

Did Carol actually die or not? Can't work it out.
With Lori gone I won't any longer be bugged by her inability to tie her hair back even though it obviously would get in the way all the time.
― ornamental cabbage (James Morrison), Monday, 5 November 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)
love the way they introduced a character t-dog could relate to then instantly replaced t-dog with him
― Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 00:08 (thirteen years ago)
this ep was pretty horrible though.
in unrelated news, michonne is hot.
was hoping that the Guvna had drugged Andrea's booze and then as she was trying to leave she'd pass out and he'd put her head in the aquarium or something weird.
also thought when he opened the door with the brick wall hallway, that it was one of those fake brick-wall doors and lol'd and then realized oh wait it's a real door nvm
mishonne is rad, she needs her kitana back
had no idea why lori would say keep the baby not really understanding that thought process but I cried a lot at the end so rick being hammy idk, felt at least kinda right/desperate to me.

actually thinking abt Lori some more, I think that maybe it was just Lori knowing that once the bleeding had started that she wasn't going to survive anyway? Like I don't think that it was any kind of zombie related decision at all. If she's already had one cesarean then maybe she knew the deal way ahead of time and expected that she'd be sacrificing herself. I mean, it's not like the show's giving us a full medical rundown so who the fuck knows. shrug.
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 06:14 (thirteen years ago)
Out of interest, how many of you who are watching this have read the comics?
I've not seen any of S3 yet, but I have them recorded and will binge this weekend I think, but I've read all the comics so don't feel like I'm spoilering myself by being on this thread before seeing S3.
― comedy is unnatural and abhorrent (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 14:07 (thirteen years ago)
things are happening a little differently, as they're kinda running three arcs at the same time right now... avoid the thread until you're caught up
― Nhex, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)
Coolio.
― comedy is unnatural and abhorrent (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 14:35 (thirteen years ago)
Where are they going to get formula to feed the baby?
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 15:20 (thirteen years ago)
Didn't see a QuikTrip outside the prison.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 15:21 (thirteen years ago)
Also weird: how nobody has mentioned how much the Governor looks and sounds like an off-brand Liam Neeson
― Nhex, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)
lol I made an off-handed comment to Mr Veg about how he looked like 'Opposite Day Liam Neeson' - he had no idea what I meant and I spent so long explaining it that it stopped being funny. :/
BUT HE TOTALLLY LOOKS LIKE A WEIRD VERSION OF LIAM NEESON. And sounds like him sort of!
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)
in the preview rick & maggie gonna go on a diaper run.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)
the governor is kinda cool and i don't recognize him at all. he's like a rich bad guy character from charlie's angels who falls for one or more of the angels. and, despite themselves, the angels fall for as well.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:02 (thirteen years ago)
It's David Morrissey! He's pretty famous in Britain! He's not just an off-brand Neeson!
― Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:08 (thirteen years ago)
oh wait he's the dude from Blackpool right? fking loved that show
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:10 (thirteen years ago)
He's pretty famous at a specific cultural range, don't think he's had problems walking down the street yet.
― Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:11 (thirteen years ago)
You mean the British TV viewing public is not entirely made up of people who watch serious drama?
― Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 17:24 (thirteen years ago)
he should totally play jack reacher in the reacher movie instead of tom cruise. my dad and i were thinking liam neeson would actually be perfect to play reacher but he's a little old for it. this guy would be next best thing. he seems big enough. reacher is 6 foot five in the books. tom cruise is 4 foot 5 in real life. so stupid. i really dig the books (thanks, dad).
― scott seward, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)
yeah MIL was beside herself that Cruise was playing Reacher, she loves those books!
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)
lee child also a brit. the dude who writes the best all-american thrillers right now. man, now i really wish the governor was playing him. i don't know what they were thinking. i mean i guess for people who don't read the books it doesn't matter. but reacher's size is such a major thing in the books. and tomcat is such a twerp.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)
my dad gave me the newest one for my birthday and i thought there would be no way i would ever read it. i'm on my third one right now and have like four more on deck. i never read tough guy thrillers.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)
anyway, i liked the last episode. it was sad. and frenetic. two down just like that! and yeah t-dog kinda got shafted. next episode looks pretty action-packed too and not 44 minutes of grieving.
