it's true that cupcakes lend themselves to excessive frosting & decoration, often to the sacrifice of actually tasting good, but that doesn't change the fact that good cupcakes are amazing.

it's not even the frosting i object to about cupcakes, it's the SIZE and a certain twee/cutesy/mimsy mindset towards food that tends to go hand-in-hand with them. MAKE IT INTO A PROPER CAKE AND GIVE ME A HUGE SLICE OF IT

re: nata, the best is when you get them in Portugal and the pastry is lard and the muffin tins are cast-iron and they cook them so hot that the outside is burnt and the inside is gooey like a campfire marshmallow

I've never really liked cake at all tbh, I only eat it to be polite. I'm a pie person. But it's more the social connotations of cupcakes that skeeve me out more than anything, the whole adults making a bfd out of eating children's food thing.

i really don't like cake. well, i don't like icing/frosting w/e. when i was working an office job earlier this year, every time someone would have a birthday and inevitably have cake i'd have to be like "nah i'm okay, i don't really like cake" and everyone in the conference would be all "WHAT, YOU DON'T LIKE CAKE? COME ON, JUST HAVE A PIECE. IT'S GREAT, I GOT IT FROM THIS PLACE. HAVE A PIECE OF CAKE!!!!!" and i'd be like "uh ok" and then i'd just go to my desk and dump it in the trash.
