i have no respect for people who watch this shit
-- and what (and@what), February 20th, 2007.

^^

some dude, Friday, 20 June 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

hmm, well that's one.

i am still really surprised to see such (near) universal acclaim for something that is half-the-time hilarious and half-the-time fucking wretched.

Will M., Friday, 20 June 2008 18:31 (seventeen years ago)

oh god i heard "sports!" out somewhere and it kind of blew my mind

sleep, Friday, 20 June 2008 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

I'm kind of surprised to see any acclaim for this at all. It's perfectly formulated for my sense of humor, but it seems like the sort of thing that maybe three people in the world would actually enjoy. I honestly can't imagine recommending it to anyone.

This is sort of correct. But shit, the half the time that it's working makes me lol harder than anything else on tv, except maybe for Mr. Show.

David R., Friday, 20 June 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

YES.
This show works on so many levels and even when it doesn't it just does. Always a win.

I hate how shiny his face is, I'm torn between pity and fear for this character. I love the asexual news casters and all the random ads in between. EVERYTHING.

VeronaInTheClub, Saturday, 21 June 2008 00:50 (seventeen years ago)

it's for your health.

Creeztophair, Saturday, 21 June 2008 01:12 (seventeen years ago)

even though everyone who likes this show besides me is an idiot like VeronaInTheClub who doesn't actually get it like i do, it's my favorite show

iiiijjjj, Saturday, 21 June 2008 01:28 (seventeen years ago)

I wish that the one scene that had burned itself into my head wasn't the monumentally unfunny hacky sack one because there is some great stuff, I can only ever just rmeember that fucking hacky sack unfunny shit though.

Will M., Saturday, 21 June 2008 21:48 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, but right after the hacky sack scene is the part where the loser of the tournament goes

"....sigh...dammit..............goddammnit....sigh....dammit..........AWESOME!"

which is pretty much one of the greatest things I've ever seen. IN MY ENTIRE LIFE SO FAR.

Z S, Monday, 23 June 2008 02:30 (seventeen years ago)

^ street team

jeff, Monday, 23 June 2008 02:47 (seventeen years ago)

Fuck yeah I would be on the street team!

JUST GIVE ME THAT CHANCE

Z S, Monday, 23 June 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, the coda of the Hackysack scene, with C-Boy walking depressed through the surf, is amazing!

I could use less of the "bloody balls" and shit-type jokes I guess, but I'll take them if they come with the incredible awkward miscommunication/ hallucinatory cable access stuff.

New season (3!) starts July 27h!

SHRIMP AND WHITE WINE

cutty, Monday, 23 June 2008 19:30 (seventeen years ago)

ok, i agree that the post-hacksack thing is great. but seriously. the part before it? awful.

can't get behind the shrimp/white wine stuff iirc.

Will M., Monday, 23 June 2008 22:25 (seventeen years ago)

three months pass...

Eric Wareheim recently directed this video for Flying Lotus's track 'Parisian Goldfish'. The results are undeniably in keeping with T&EASGJ's humour stylings, and definitely not safe for work (or possibly for viewing anywhere, ever).

It's the best thing I've seen in months.

That was some intense sex.

Like some pairs of pants, this pair of videos gets better and better each time you wear and/or watch them!

Z S, Tuesday, 30 September 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

When I had the flu for a few days earlier this summer, discovering those videos helped ease my recovery.

Great job!

Millsner, Tuesday, 30 September 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

I love Zack, but otherwise don't get much out of these.

This, however:

not to be that guy, but the first ep was pretty weak.

forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 11:53 (sixteen years ago)

it was terrible imo. only good bit was good cop/bad cop with that guy

wilter, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 12:09 (sixteen years ago)

I was laughing pretty hard @ the intro, but yeah, they've had better.

gonna look in this thread to find all the Tim & Eric fans so i know who to killfile

bad episode, good intro

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

As I've said before, I'm continually shocked that Tim and Eric fans even exist. I love the show unreservedly, though. It's the little things, like how they kept showing the clip of the dude in the audience who wasn't even really laughing, that crack my shit up.

I recently (and reluctantly) introduced my SO to the show and, to my shock and amusement, she seems to love it as much as I do. This might just be the real thing!

Yeah, the whole appeal of TAESGJ is the subtleties, facial twitches/tics, pauses, etc.

This object perpetually attempts to sell itself on eBay. (Stevie D), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:42 (sixteen years ago)

about half the material from the first ep was in the live show and boy do they suck live.

forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 18:45 (sixteen years ago)

are you saying this isn't the pinnacle of comedy?

Whiney, methinks u do not "get" the comedey of Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Jobs.

*killfiled, no regrets*

^^potentially not true at all, sry^^ (Z S), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 19:15 (sixteen years ago)

Is there actually a killfile or just SB's?

Your body is a spiderland (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 19:17 (sixteen years ago)

Yes, but killfile is for stupids who like to be confused by responses to posts that they can no longer see. I do not understand its existence, but by god I'll die to defend its right to exist.

So this is S5, then? I still havent seen 4 - it seems not to be out on DVD yet. Want to see it mainly for the Tommy Wiseau bits! Which reminds me, is there a thread about The Room cos I can't find one and I saw it last weekend and woah nelly.

ABBAcab (Trayce), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

Tommy Wiseau's "The Room"

btw not sure if this or the On Cinema thread is the designated thread for Office Hours talk, but replacing Doug "smoke drugs first thing in the morning" Pound with Megan Koester was a solid move for that enterprise

Huh? Isn't Doug on Office Hours right now?

Evan, Thursday, 12 November 2020 18:58 (five years ago)

oh I dunno! he was semi-replaced with Megan the other week. I don't ever watch it live

for some reason a few BTS clips of this sketch have been making the rounds and they're all amazing

That one sketch needs its own limited run prestige tv series about its making. Timotheee Cahalamet as Paul Rudd.

hadn't seen these before, apparently every once in a while they'll get back together and watch their old bits and do commentary on them, it's good stuff

best part for me is Eric meeting his in laws in Australia and them telling him "we've got this video that's right up your alley, have you seen it?" and it's "Spaghetti Again"

this one is even better

well I've only watched the first half hour but those fake ads they made for Shrek the Third are hilarious. the Boost Mobile Super Bowl Shuffle one I think is pretty funny too. seems to foreshadow a lot of Awesome Show stuff. they don't seem too fond of it though.

frogbs, Sunday, 26 January 2025 01:42 (one year ago)

two weeks pass...

inspired by that I showed my kids (10 and 7) the Totinos commercial and I swear this is the most they've ever liked an internet video, literally every morning since I've woken up to that fucking bass riff when one of them puts it on the living room TV

actually kind of amazing they've created stuff that both adults and kids can enjoy in equal measure. I've tried to show them more T&E stuff but so much of it is inappropriate! they did think Celery Man and the Cinco iJammer were really funny though!
