damn i should chillax

Most everyone at work jumped on the FB bandwagon, so they could be "hip like the students." They strong-armed me into signing up. I had to explain what a poke was to my boss, and then show her how to send a personal message.

It was depressing.

I just signed up for this today, totally different world to myspace. It's like a more grown-up bebo really, and I never warmed to bebo. It'll take some time to get used to.

er. i don't, really. there are subtleties and niceties, but it's all one big swirling vortex round grimly's social sphere.

The typical Facebooker spends hours each day sending messages, posting "notes" or blog entries, and uploading photos, along with trolling for freshmen girls who love the Decemberists.

some people on there have like 20-30 comments a day, most of which are the same message

ach, i don't *need* one. but it's kinda fun. also: experiments with private internet sites (no, rly) haven't been resoundingly successful.

i'm not saying facebook is revolutionary -- it's palpably not. i think its current popularity will wane quickly. but fuck it. it's put me in touch with a couple of old friends, and it suits my purposes well.

i'd probably be fine with it but it sort of makes complicated situations public and more complicated....

i'm halfway to quitting it because this just leads to headaches and/or aforementioned randoms. i'm being a bit prissy about it i guess.

I've started getting former school mates bringing the "AIN'T SIN YOU FOR AGES" to what was previously a contended quip-trading circle-jerk between a bunch of people I already spend a lot of time with. It's all turning from gold into shit.
