There is plenty of medicine prescribed for mental health that is not very good for people to take in the long term.
― Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 13:49 (thirteen years ago)
I think in my case, it was not good to take in dosages of like, a dozen bowls and a few bong hits over the course of the evening. That's just how everyone I ever smoked down with liked to roll.

imho, legalizing medical marijuana is a gateway to full legalization - a way to get people comfortable to the idea― Mordy, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 14:45 (12 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

Sure, but why not just admit that it's not proven to be bad for you? Instead of saying that it is bad for you unless you have a serious illness?
― make like a steak and beef (dog latin), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 13:59 (thirteen years ago)
I agree with you - I'm just not sure it's politically feasible (or at least not as feasible as medical marijuana appears to be).
― Mordy, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 13:59 (thirteen years ago)
the third party debate was lol because with the exception of the poor man's clint eastwood from the "constitution party" every candidate supported legalizing marijuana. there were a bunch of issues like that.

Worth checking out...

yeah nothing groundbreaking, but just rad to see 60minutes devoting time to it
― ❏❐❑❒ (gr8080), Saturday, 27 October 2012 00:41 (thirteen years ago)
cool segment, also economic revitalization information made me feel very optimistic. if states begin to draw lots of revenue from this i think that will expedite more comprehensive legalization
― Mordy, Saturday, 27 October 2012 00:46 (thirteen years ago)
Filled in one vote-by-mail oval today to legalize weed in WA state and another to legalize gay marriage. Doesn't mean they'll pass (though both are polling ahead for now), but still, I never thought I'd actually see either up for a vote, much less on the same ballot.

this is insane. NH medical legal great but colorado recreational legal is just... i guess we're heading towards a major federal situation.
― Mordy, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:05 (thirteen years ago)
maybe CO can take some federal heat off CA?
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:06 (thirteen years ago)
WA looks like it's going to legalize too.

my CA pride is hurt a little by the fact that we didn't get there first, but reading the text of the CO law, legalization of under an ounce doesn't seem meaningfully from decriminalization of an ounce. cultivation and sales are maybe kind of a big deal, but maybe kind of not? compared to the medical situation, what's the diff? I don't know.
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:21 (thirteen years ago)
meaningfully different
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:22 (thirteen years ago)
i am proud of CO!!
― homosexual II, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:32 (thirteen years ago)
as a Denver resident, weed was/is pretty "legal" here already (not really, but everyone smokes it freely and openly). I am excited about the tax revenues and the tourism and all that. Super stoked.
― homosexual II, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:34 (thirteen years ago)
bring on the rasta hats.
the tourism is going to be crazy, i'm thinking ILX FAP in WEED CAPITAL OF AMERICA
― Mordy, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:34 (thirteen years ago)
I don't even smoke weed really fyi and I am still excited about this
― homosexual II, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:35 (thirteen years ago)

― homosexual II, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:36 (thirteen years ago)
was surprised the tourism angle was never talked about in WA. gonna be bigi' m mostly glad about access issues. no more paying the weed doctor $100/yr for a letter
― ou th (anky), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:38 (thirteen years ago)
on the tourism front, WA seems like it might benefit more than CO. On the other hand, the Mile High city angle could be a good draw.
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:41 (thirteen years ago)
General good strategic move for the southwest in general too, politically speaking and in terms of reducing violence on both sides of the border, I would think.

whats the weed scene like in WA right? Medical marijuana only?
― homosexual II, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 05:46 (thirteen years ago)
er right now
as in today
medical yes, but I don't think they decriminalized it yet.

we already have some really awful shit that goes down here, like those weird 12-person bikes that people drive around town while drinking beer. Also.. this thing

like, this shit isn't my jam AT ALL. And I live down the street from the city's most popular brew pub hippy bars. oh dear.

― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:06 (thirteen years ago)
WA was medical only (no decrim). doctors letters (a joke) and dispensaries. lots in seattle. allowed to grow up to 45 plants. weirder scene in more conservative eastern wa, county by county city by city rules. previously! gonna puff one on the front porch instead of the back, basically
― ou th (anky), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:09 (thirteen years ago)
it's been clear for awhile, but i think even more crystalized tonight, that we're heading in the direction of broad legalization of marijuana (medical + otherwise) in the near future. i think obama would be smart to start to embrace it, even passively - go back to not enforcing federal laws on state decisions. his opinion could be "evolving," like re gay marriage.
― Mordy, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:10 (thirteen years ago)
according to an article about the WA law They could buy up to an ounce of dried marijuana; one pound of marijuana-infused product in solid form, such as brownies; or 72 ounces of marijuana-infused liquids.. hahaha what?
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:11 (thirteen years ago)
lol at the liquids. an ounce is not a small amount though. like PA law capping single beer bottle purchases at 12. tedious but hardly draconian.
― Mordy, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:13 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, an oz is not small at all. and really when it gets to that level of legalization who cares how much somebody possesses? But yeah, an oz of bud vs. a pound of hash is pretty lol.
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:15 (thirteen years ago)
but wait, seriously in PA you can't buy more than 12 beers at a time!?
― wk, Wednesday, 7 November 2012 06:16 (thirteen years ago)
WA is 56% / 44% right now.
"One ounce of marijuana will be legal as of Dec. 6, and the state will begin a year-long process of creating a closed, tightly regulated and heavily taxed market for recreational marijuana sales at state-licensed retail shops."
I seriously have no idea what will come of this, it is kind of insane to think about. I live in a town that's approximately 60% college kids and is surrounded for hundreds of miles by incredibly fertile farmland so shit could get kind of crazy.
