A shutting door sounds like a beating heart for a reason.
I have a sneaking suspicion this dude either doesn't know how to close a door or spends a lot of time killing people. Possibly both.

wouldn't it be lovely if each yelp review had a "comments" section like amazon reviews have? i'm sure the yelp ppl realize what a mess it would create if people were actually directly called out for their bs but how nice would it be...

oh my god you guys ive found a Yelp exclusivley for vegetarians
http://www.vegguide.org/entry/1666
My fiance and I are both vegan. We told this to the waitress when we first ordered our meals. We ordered, ate the appetizers that we could find that was vegetarian, she came out with our meals, and mentioned in passing "with vegetarian soy" we half-jokingly asked her what kind of soy sauce isn't vegetarian.... she said their house soy sauce has fish sauce in it. Isn't that lovely? it wouldn't have been so bad if the waitress would have told us that it wasn't vegetarian ahead of time. That way, we could have NOT compromised our beliefs and made ourselves sick. (I am surprised at how quickly it messed me up)We talked to the manager, and he didn't seem apologetic. After he talked to our waitress, he came back and said he'd take the (6 dollar) veggie maki off the bill... oh boy. Free fish! nobody can turn down free fish! Even if it means sitting on the toilet for hours. :-/So, needless to say, I don't recommend this place to anyone. With the plethora of vegetarian restaurants in center city, why would anyone want to go to Morimoto and pay way too much money for bland food? (although there was an appetizer that had crispy caramelized onions that was really quite tasty, but the majority of our food really was nothing to write home about) Maybe for the chance to see iron chef Morimoto at the sushi bar, but that's really it. For vegetarians at least.

I don't even understand the story - the server told them it was vegetarian soy sauce so they freaked out about the non-vegetarian soy sauce that they...didn't have? Am I missing something?
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 26 October 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)
they ate the non-veggie soy with their appetizers before the waitress came out with entrees and mentioned the veggie soy. but i had to read the whole thing slowly to figure that out.
― in norbit (n/a), Friday, 26 October 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)
I'm just cracking up that soy sauce made them sick
― Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Friday, 26 October 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)
seriously, at that point, just, don't go out, ever.
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 26 October 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

― sug ones (omar little), Friday, 26 October 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)
I mean, I'd get it if they ate like a gigantic plate of beef, but they ate some soy sauce made with fish sauce on vegetables.
― Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Friday, 26 October 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)
I feel like any decent vegan/vegetarian worth his/her salt know that soy is often not vegan???
― quincie, Friday, 26 October 2012 20:42 (thirteen years ago)
Soy sauce, I mean. And worchestershire sauce, etc. I mean how about some A1 on your veggie burger?
― quincie, Friday, 26 October 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)
or some gravy
― Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Friday, 26 October 2012 20:44 (thirteen years ago)
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS GRAVY HAS MEAT JUICE IN IT???
― quincie, Friday, 26 October 2012 20:45 (thirteen years ago)
I think the soy sauces you buy in the store are all vegan. Soy beans, wheat, water, salt, and the fermenting fungus.
― nickn, Friday, 26 October 2012 21:31 (thirteen years ago)

Not even that, tbh. They had a bad case of preciousness.

ha, this is brilliant. i'm using this next time a vegetarian tells me they "felt sick" after they accidentally had a spoonful of baked beans that were cooked with bacon fat.
― flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Friday, 26 October 2012 23:54 (thirteen years ago)
Nah, veggies can feel sick from eating stuff with meat. I imagine for a lot of them it's psychological, but I've known enough people who've become unused to eating certain foodstuffs who get sick on it that I think there is an inability to process after a while... not just vegetarians, either. Just general 'not had this before/for a while, ooh my stomach feels odd'.
On the other hand... I always thought that *all* soy sauce was fish-based, so it seems a bit odd to blame a restaurant for your own ignorance.
― emil.y, Saturday, 27 October 2012 00:14 (thirteen years ago)
leaving aside the case of food that would make anyone sick, i have no reason to believe any of the junk theorizing around "losing the ability to process" meat.
I was raised vegetarian and didn't taste meat until I was in my teens. If the ability to process flesh is acquired, I'd seem like a good case for someone who never acquired it in the first place, let along lost it.
But on the rare occasions when I have e.g. eaten a steak at a grandparent's birthday or accepted hospitality offered in good faith or gone native for a few months in a place where vegetarian food is hard to come by, I've never had a problem.
Disgust is not indigestion, and I suspect that a lot of vegetarians who "got sick" after eating meat would have been fine if no one had told them what was in the soy sauce.

well duh
― Gandalf’s Gobble Melt (DJP), Saturday, 27 October 2012 02:07 (thirteen years ago)
not "duh" that's too strong, I mean you are 100% correct and there is a lot of psychosomatic nonsense tied up in these physical reactions
that guy's reviews read like the onion articles where they make fun of contemporary poets.
i was referring specifically to folks who seem to have no reaction at all until someone tells them "btw there was bacon in that."
― flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Saturday, 27 October 2012 02:11 (thirteen years ago)

djp/amtrst i was really responding to emil.y but probably took it too far bc i'm laid up, in pain and grumpy. just having little tolerance for the preciousness of veggie-come-latelies tonight.

Hipster central. Awful techno music with no vocals or any sort of build (and I actually do like electronic dance music normally.) It's quite literally a basement. I guess the graffiti-ed walls and ceiling are kind of cool, but I kept looking around expecting to see a rat. They actually ran out of several of the drinks that were on special, even though it wasn't really packed.
That said, my friends and I had a great time, but it had pretty much nothing to do with what Medusa actually has to offer.

"...I kept looking to see a rat. They actually ran out of several of the drinks that were on special.."
I love the way this is worded. I had to read it twice because I legit thought rats were coming out of the drinks

they were disappointed there was no graffitti renderings of rats i think

UH. MILKSHAKE. BROUGHT. ALL THE GIRLS. TO THE YARD. Yeah it was $5 but that caramelized hazelnut shake was the best thing ever.
VINCENT: Can I have a sip of that? I'd like to know what a five-dollar shake tastes like.
MIA: Be my guest. You can use my straw, I don't have kooties.
VINCENT: Yeah, but maybe I do.
MIA: Kooties I can handle.
VINCENT: G&*@#n! That's a pretty f@#$%&n' good milk shake.
MIA: Told ya.
VINCENT: I don't know if it's worth five dollars, but it's pretty f@#$&n' good.

The security at this mall harasses and kicks out people for dressing differently. No explanation was provided for why a group of girls was kicked out; they were just shopping and placed some purchases before heading to the food court. However, they were dressed in an alternative Japanese fashion style. They were escorted to the exit with no reason given and even though they left without making a fuss one security guard harassed one of the girls, getting very close and in her face. She is now traumatized from this aggressive behavior and is seeking legal and psychological counsel. The security staff called the police, but since there was no crime committed the police officer did nothing. It is unclear why security acted in the manner, but I urge you not to support a mall that hires such unprofessional and rude security guards.
