guys guys guys I've been carrying this albatross of an academic book manuscript around my neck for the past, uh, thirteen years (seven years as a dissertation and then six years editing / revising / finding a publisher etc.). And just tonight I hit send on the final revised manuscript. It comes out in March from Fordham University Press. I've literally had this project hanging over my head for like a decade and now, aside from final galley proof checking, it's . . . done.

i spent the night going to a good old-fashioned house party the likes of which i didn't think my social circles did anymore, having instead decided to do dancing and clubs and afterparties forever and it was lovely and filled with lots of rap and lots of drinks and lots of good conversation,

but also i have the biggest crush on the (gay) brother of a good (bi, but more into dudes) friend of mine. which like, i have had this crush for a few years, but said brother wasn't single until recently and is now theoretically available and is totally charming and smart and interesting and i spent most of the night talking to him instead of my friends and being fairly obvious and what is the etiquette for this sort of thing. argh. sigh.

trying to make something happen is maybe just a terrible idea? but crushes are fun.
