sorry guys, i overreacted. things are fine atm, but i was genuinely scared for a bit.

backstory: ph1l stayed up all night working on notes for a test, which then got erased from the program suddenly crashing, and which then wouldn't print after being re-typed. proceeded to throw shit around the room, including the notes for my research paper.

was mostly feeling that it was somehow my fault (this is a common thing for me — if someone i am close to is angry/upset i feel i am in part to blame) and also afraid that he would do something regrettable. everything's cooled down though.

he's also been sleeping a lot, like 14 hours a day, so the possibility of that being a symptom of depression also played into my worries. also, i am pretty much always depressed. we're depressed people. sad sad sad.

so weird, i can't think of any of Bronson's work at all that's "more satan than pagan," the whole basis of his solo work since group material emerges from this space of care, tending to felix and jorge on their deathbeds. earth mother, fecund spaces of healing, butt massages, and dream cities where the living and the dead walk together. sure burgher is coming from an aleister crowley space of witchcraft, self-obliteration but also his work is maybe not so interesting to me. i think what's really good about bronson's work over the last ten or so years that he's been working as a solo artist, is that it doesn't stall at the level of representation (sigils, glyphs, incantations) but moves beyond that. like with this school for young shamans, inventing styles of communitarian eroticism. which is what is interesting about rad fae stuff to me. these stylised rituals of friendship, adornment. ways of living critically that require ad hoc pedagogies, an aesthetics of community.
