Tracer Hand, Thursday, 29 January 2009 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

tryin remember this goth metal band that played at China King, they had a huge black guy named Tauhid as their bass plaer

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 29 January 2009 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Ok, so firstly: huge haws to bands playing at CHINA KING?!

And secondly: I got my apartment today, and it is literally a stone's throw from Chandler's. Chandler's is my neighbor, basically. I am going to be the fattest human alive!

roxymuzak, Friday, 30 January 2009 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

Terry Hill is/was a fuckin' hero, by the way.

roxymuzak, Friday, 30 January 2009 22:41 (seventeen years ago)

dude!! China King was ground zero for punk and metal in the mid-to-late 80s - they used to have handwritten signs on the inside saying "no slamdancing"!

the thought that anyone would actually EAT anything there was inconceivable and hilarious to me

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 31 January 2009 10:51 (seventeen years ago)

Yesterday, at Market Square, a fellow on a unicycle rode by, holding a solved Rubik's Cube, and said to me "I solved it!" (My reply: "Good job!")

Haha...I remember Hypertribe (attending my first club show ever back in '91, when they opened for fIREHOSE)...they were kinda Faith No More-esque but more metal, right?

ernestp, Saturday, 31 January 2009 17:09 (seventeen years ago)

Ernestp, who you is!?

roxymuzak, Saturday, 31 January 2009 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

Ok, so, I moved this weekend.

The pink thing is my house. The blue thing on the left is Chandler's Deli. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS PROXIMITY?! Also, bonus points if you can guess what the blue thing on the right is.

roxymuzak, Saturday, 31 January 2009 22:13 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, and by the way, I had brunch at the bistro today. A++++++

roxymuzak, Sunday, 1 February 2009 10:23 (seventeen years ago)

roxymuzak asked "Ernestp, who you is!?"

http://www.shakingray.com/meetthesociety.shtml

Hello roxymuzak, reading back on this thread, it looks like we have some mutual friends in the Royal Bangs (although the one I know best, Jason, I believe has left the band.) Congrats on the Metro Pulse ranking...that's awesome!

ernestp, Sunday, 1 February 2009 15:31 (seventeen years ago)

is the other blue thing the philippine connection? if not, it's nearby.

i love chilhowee park, it's got that turn-of-the-20th-century vibe. can totally imagine ladies w/parasols and barbershop quartets.

Hey Knoxvillians, where's a good place for me to replenish my beer supply Monday before I leave town?

WmC, Thursday, 5 February 2009 03:25 (seventeen years ago)

Like, a place to BUY beer or a place to DRINK beer?

roxymuzak, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:40 (seventeen years ago)

WHO DEY and the blowfish (roxymuzak), Saturday, 4 April 2009 01:49 (seventeen years ago)

WHO DEY and the blowfish (roxymuzak), Saturday, 4 April 2009 01:49 (seventeen years ago)

had dinner with a knoxville friend in nyc tonite. she recently decamped to farragut from north knox (for love, which is the only acceptable reason for moving to farragut iirc), and she says all the west knox subdivisions around them are getting hammered by foreclosures. there's one with no actual houses on it, just a big sign announcing "fogginton brambles" or whatever, homes starting at $360,000, and it's just a bare patch of land with a backhoe that's been sitting there lone-sentinel like since september.

the silence of the burbs.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 4 April 2009 03:02 (seventeen years ago)

two weeks pass...

i cant believe i posted about "sour hour"! a knoxville secret, outed!!!

so, i noticed that all the blogs about knoxville are retarded, and if knoxville is going to have a blogging hero it might as well be/should probably be me, so i have decided to butthouse my architecture blog and start a knox blog. i need a name.

  • MARBLE CITY MADMAN
  • BLOOD VESTAL (?! too subtle?)
  • TENNESSEE TRASH (do you remember these awesome commercials!!!)

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 04:52 (seventeen years ago)

That's so weird, I just checked your arch blog today on a whim. Sorry to see it go...even if it was sort of abortive I thought it had promise!

As someone who knows none of the Kville references, I think "Marble City Madman" is the best just as a name but I don't know what it might be borrowing from.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 19 April 2009 05:30 (seventeen years ago)

Doc: Ted Nugent is known as the MOTOR city madman, so it is borrowing from that!

the arch blog, i just cant update it enough for it to be an actual blog. couple that with the fact that i have essentially nothing to say, and its kind of a dumb idea. i dont know. maybe i could manage one update a week.

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 05:52 (seventeen years ago)

i vote for tennessee trash!! be aware that this is the name of one of the softball teams that plays once a year at a sekrit location in jacksboro (other teams: the kentucky feelers, the carolina creepers, the virginia culture vultures). i really think you should go this year roxy. it's on memorial day. i'll give you directions. seriously just show up and you will have a wonderful time.

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:22 (seventeen years ago)

sounds awesome!!

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:25 (seventeen years ago)

what does butthouse mean?

Also, what about some BBQ-related pun?

kingfish, Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:31 (seventeen years ago)

butthouse is like smash something and destroy it, in the style of sitting down hard on a cupcake

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:34 (seventeen years ago)

bbq i associate with two nauseating cities known as memphis and nashville

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:35 (seventeen years ago)

i mean i love bbq, but i dont consider it a knoxville thing?

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:35 (seventeen years ago)

omg by the way:

kingfish, Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:39 (seventeen years ago)

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:42 (seventeen years ago)

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:43 (seventeen years ago)

i don't even know who that is!

but i'm sure he's a fine young man.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

also, i bid on that obama-sunsphere painting but topped out at $25. it went for $70 or something.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:52 (seventeen years ago)

james coffey is just a dude. for some reason in the back of my mind i always thought of him as "gypsy mothra." then the other day i saw him at the longbranch and he slaps me on the shoulder and is like "you're the one who writes those ROXY MUZAK blogs!!!!" and i was like wow, this guy is really not gypsy mothra

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 06:58 (seventeen years ago)

haha no.

i haven't even been to knoxville in like two years. it's mostly a fantasy place for me. like fantasy baseball except a city.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 19 April 2009 07:06 (seventeen years ago)

you mean you pick the people that are in knoxville and bet on what is going to happen there

tuppence b. bag (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 April 2009 07:11 (seventeen years ago)

a little odd but ay
