"i trace this mandala of spunk across your chest"

plax (ico), Sunday, 14 October 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

that's fun but taking it soooo seriously as a 'lifestyle' is a pain.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)

i really had no idea that radical faeries is an actual thing... so far outside my view of things

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 October 2012 16:52 (thirteen years ago)

Such animosity towards RFs itt! I mean yeah taking it super seriously and like blessing vegetables and stuff is a little eyeroll-inducing at times but I am still staunchly #teamfaerie

bell biv devo (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 14 October 2012 17:27 (thirteen years ago)

wait -- what is a radical faery?

the ones that I'm near most: fellow outcasts and ilxors (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 14 October 2012 17:28 (thirteen years ago)

It's super reductive to just write them off as hippie-dippie new age bullshit; I mean they are a lot more than that obviously. I get finding aspects of it annoying but being all HATE HATE HATE @ a group of people who are so positive and also mostly mind their own business seems strange

bell biv devo (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 14 October 2012 17:30 (thirteen years ago)

i don't hate em. hate is a waste. I'd just find em too silly to be around regularly.

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

Hmm it mostly sounds like fun early-20s sexploration extended into adulthood and with costumes and facepaint, no judgement here, would not smash tho

flamboyant goon tie included, Sunday, 14 October 2012 18:07 (thirteen years ago)

smh @ at life choices + would not smash

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 October 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

If you are worried that a cool friend is destined toward radical faeriedom, what do you do? "Wow that tailored suit looks SO nice on you, you should like wear suits all the time" or something more drastic?

flamboyant goon tie included, Sunday, 14 October 2012 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

you buy him a Bryan Ferry album.

Queer as Folk episode "Stand Up for Ourselves" features a storyline where the characters Emmett and Michael attend a rural gathering to discover their "inner Faerie." Various adventures ensue on the land, including a mystical encounter with Harry Hay.

so I'm trying to stall calling the guy I'm dating because I don't want to see him today even though it's been six days. Cold?

the ones that I'm near most: fellow outcasts and ilxors (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 14 October 2012 19:35 (thirteen years ago)

gay

cancer, kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 14 October 2012 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

does that mean that you guys are actually dating?

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 October 2012 19:42 (thirteen years ago)

insofar as we've seen each other seven or eight times

the ones that I'm near most: fellow outcasts and ilxors (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 14 October 2012 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

Guys, I never seem to have anything gay to talk about...

Most of us seldom do, it seems!

bell biv devo (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 15 October 2012 05:15 (thirteen years ago)

yesterday i was listening to prokofiev with a cat on my lap drinking chai and reading hegel. dunno if that's gay or just poncey.

bryan "radical" ferry (clouds), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:07 (thirteen years ago)

Bobby Ken Doll (Eric H.), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:20 (thirteen years ago)

The gayest thing I did this weekend was blow off the zombie pub crawl.

Bobby Ken Doll (Eric H.), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:21 (thirteen years ago)

hehe

bryan "radical" ferry (clouds), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:32 (thirteen years ago)

The gayest thing I did this weekend was having Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break" blaring from my car window, to which one pedestrian gave me a definite WTF look.

this is the dream of avril and chad (jer.fairall), Monday, 15 October 2012 12:45 (thirteen years ago)

I saw a jazz concert last night and wore a shapeless grey flannel shirt. Today I step up my gayme

flamboyant goon tie included, Monday, 15 October 2012 12:46 (thirteen years ago)

further to the radical faerie discussion, there are a number of other neo-pagan / ritual gay orgs i've learned about in my internet adventures:

i'm of two minds about the sort of liberated sacred sexuality, because i'm not about to criticize anybody for their search for spirituality, community, and support as long as they're not hurting anybody. on the other hand, do you really need all that witchy paraphernalia if you wanna have a circle jerk? i don't want to question alleged spiritual motives but i think you have to.

real men have been preparing manly dishes for centuries (elmo argonaut), Monday, 15 October 2012 13:42 (thirteen years ago)

Some people are into leather and chains. Others are into pollen.

Bobby Ken Doll (Eric H.), Monday, 15 October 2012 13:47 (thirteen years ago)

yah i mean i think its just the theatre of it. sexual practices that supplement the body, new possibilities of pleasure with strange parts of the body. also i think its sortof hard to think this outside the aftermath of an AIDS discourse, a desire for reparation and healing. like AA Bronson's recent work definitely gestures toward a rad fae space. invocation of the queer spirits. In the sky and in the eye and

plax (ico), Monday, 15 October 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)

lol, love the idea of reparative f***ing

Bobby Ken Doll (Eric H.), Monday, 15 October 2012 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

Faerie frottaging and cottaging?

Bobby Ken Doll (Eric H.), Monday, 15 October 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

gay zine launch party, gay awards gala (feat. a partial restoration of 1919 german silent film 'anders als die anderen'), gay bar after a poetry reading last night, a gay friend's birthday party, and an opera where i totally fagged out over NETREBKO and the cute gay polish baritone. and um, other things.

tonight i am planning on doing absolutely nothing

here's the thing: rad fae stuff is HUGE out here, and in the end, i can't help but see it as an excuse to be a slut. that's fine, i love sluts, but don't dress it up in a bunch of new age yippie language and appropriated imagery.

and here's the thing: while i haven't seen too much of the more recent work, i pair AA Bronson with people like Elijah Burgher and bands like Coil or THC in my head, and that sort of sexual magick (more satan less pagan) is fine with me.

for reasons of sass (the table is the table), Monday, 15 October 2012 17:53 (thirteen years ago)
