Lake Talk

A notable element in Nonantum is the Lake dialect. Lake Talk, as it is called, is an idiosyncratic language spoken in the village, particularly among Italian-American locals. The dialect's origins are unclear. It has been speculated that it is a blend of Italian and some World War II code, but others have seen similarities to Angloromani or Italian Romany ("gypsy") slang. According to a 2001 article in the Boston Globe some examples of words and phrases in Lake Talk include:

I'd have to double-check, but I'm pretty sure Silver has always said that polls at the national and state level move together, though they might not be perfectly in sync--one leads the other, but the idea that this and that state stay static while other states begin to move noticeably doesn't work. This Michigan poll would seem to bear that out:

No, I'm not Sullivan saying it's over, not at all. But this may be the equivalent of those few days in 2008 when McCain temporarily caught up. Last time it happened in September, and only lasted a few days.

yeah national polls are conducted more often and by more people so the state polls should lag behind the shifts in the national ones. Basically behind by 4 points in national polls= very bad news. But he was up 5 in gallup's monday poll so who the fuck knows what's going on.
