xxpost hah croup I misread that as "which will make this the first time I've watched fox regularly since the last simon & simon" lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 October 2012 20:01 (thirteen years ago)

who is the veronica mars ex?

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Monday, 8 October 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

as soon as i saw the simpsons on ullman i was like "this is gonna lead to some hacky bullshit 20 years from now"

da croupier, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:26 (thirteen years ago)

i wrote off fox when they retooled duet as open house

balls, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

guy who plays Schmidt was a cop love interest in a few episodes of Veronica Mars (xpost)

some dude, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)

Sheriff Leo was my favorite, Logan way overrated.

controversial cabaret roommate (Nicole), Monday, 8 October 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)

holy hell i didn't clock that at all

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Monday, 8 October 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

yeah leo was my fave when i could overlook how kinda pervy that whole situation was

balls, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Veronica never really seemed high school age so it didn't really bother me. Most of the cast was pushing 30.

controversial cabaret roommate (Nicole), Monday, 8 October 2012 20:35 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, blew my mind when i heard this too - doesn't seem like the same actor at all

Nhex, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:38 (thirteen years ago)

yeah watching it it didn't seem bad, it's only when i think of a cop dating a jr in high school that i'm like 'wait a minute'.

balls, Monday, 8 October 2012 20:47 (thirteen years ago)

Schmidt was also part of an interracial gay couple on the ABC Family series "Greek."

Tom Hardy & the Batbreakers (Phil D.), Monday, 8 October 2012 22:13 (thirteen years ago)

Is anyone going to be watching Nashville?

Mrs Coach makes me say yes I will try this

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 9 October 2012 23:48 (thirteen years ago)

I'm recording it

pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 9 October 2012 23:49 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I'll give it a go. I love Mrs. Coach.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

haha i've had a thing for connie britton going on twenty years now, will probably give this a shot, and yet...somehow have never gotten around to watching friday night lights?

balls, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 23:58 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, you should probably watch it

Number None, Tuesday, 9 October 2012 23:59 (thirteen years ago)

haha i know i know and yet somehow i haven't. i mean, i know that minka kelly is a cheerleader in this which means there are scenes of minka kelly dressed up like a cheerleader and yet somehow i still haven't watched the show.

balls, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

I think critics only got one episode, but it's generally the best reviewed pilot of the season.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:06 (thirteen years ago)

balls dude...this will sound corny but Connie is goddamn radiant in FNL. you NEED to see it. she's maybe the thing I love most about the whole show, and I love everyone in it

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

connie was a fox on spin city. friday night lights was a portentous chore for me, i gave up after 2 1/2 episodes. will give nashville a try but it doesn't seem like a good sign when a show appears to share its premise with a recent gwyneth paltrow movie?

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

eh patsy vs loretta, loretta vs dolly, reba vs faith, faith vs taylor - this tale is as old as the hills

balls, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

oh sure, but you gotta admit it being framed in such a similar way in 2 big-ish projects 2 years apart is a little deep impact/armageddon

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:50 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, never saw the paltrow (was it even a hit?) and haven't seen any promos for the nashville - do either go straight all about eve ripoff?

balls, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:53 (thirteen years ago)

afaict connie's star is just beginning to fade while gwyneth was already through her downfall and attempting to make a comeback but otherwise seems thematically pretty similar

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 00:57 (thirteen years ago)

some dude - 2 1/2 episodes? really? jeez man.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:17 (thirteen years ago)

i already trolled a FNL thread about that once, but yeah, back when i was home all day w/ a newborn i was roaring through dvd sets of various tv shows, and that one just stopped me in my tracks, felt like the most laborious and predictable thing ever.

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:22 (thirteen years ago)

I probably yelled at you on that thread too, come to think of it.

smdh @ you

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

you're not wrong about it being portentous but i am still mad at you for that

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

lol vg

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

connie britton is amazing on that show, balls. also all the women and the men are incandescently gorgeous; it's not just kelly and britton.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:24 (thirteen years ago)

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER
NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO NOT WATCH OR HALF WATCH IT

>:)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:28 (thirteen years ago)

i dunno, i heard it was kinda portentious

balls, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:29 (thirteen years ago)

it is not a show about being surprising or unpredictable plot twists, but it is a good show

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:31 (thirteen years ago)

also it includes the world's greatest human, jason street

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:32 (thirteen years ago)

connie britton's hair is beautiful

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:34 (thirteen years ago)

that actor who plays smash for the first few seasons is great--has he ever done anything else? he's so good.

2006 Fall TV Thread

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:35 (thirteen years ago)

Even thinking about high school football makes me feel jittery so I'm never watching FNL. I'm sure it's a good show, though.

controversial cabaret roommate (Nicole), Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:36 (thirteen years ago)

lol horseshoe

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:36 (thirteen years ago)

tbh i never finished fnl because it's too sad and i can only handle half-hour comedy these days, but one day when i have the resolve i'll watch the final seasons.

so there's a show about connie britton as a fading country music star? i should probably be watching that show.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:42 (thirteen years ago)

look at these luxuriant tami taylor locks

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:42 (thirteen years ago)

what does fnl portend?

Mordy, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:44 (thirteen years ago)

Adjective:
1.Of or like a portent.
2.Done in a pompously or overly solemn manner.

some dude, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:46 (thirteen years ago)

there are a lot of shots of bleak/beautiful texas landscapes set to on-the-nose music like "devil town," so i see what al is saying. it's definitely an identifiably my so called life-ish vibe.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:49 (thirteen years ago)

i'm skeptical. i can't find that definition in the OED xp

Mordy, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:51 (thirteen years ago)

well, i'm not gonna pretend the malleable ol' internet is more trustwrothy than a paper dictionary, so hey

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 10 October 2012 01:56 (thirteen years ago)
