Thoughts on Giroud? I thought he was going to come good, he seems to have the presence and mentality so obviously missing from your Chamakhs

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

xposts. Rodgers? Commentating on West Ham-Arsenal? Or have television stations starting randomly inserting Rodgers sound bites into their coverage? You'll be reciting them in your sleep before you know it.

Chris, Saturday, 6 October 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

It was a clip from next week's Being: Liverpool. Didn't appreciate the spoiler quite frankly, I haven't seen Friday's yet.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

Ray Stubbs sounds like he's marvelling at a Gianfranco Zola montage whenever he tries to say Santi's name. Cor, Zola.

Chris, Saturday, 6 October 2012 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't made my mind up on Giroud yet. Chamakh was a hard working type who just couldn't get his shots off when he started with us too.

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 6 October 2012 19:00 (thirteen years ago)

the Hazard-Oscar-Mata trio is hella exciting.

Perfect Chicken Forever (Merdeyeux), Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:43 (thirteen years ago)

Oscar is going to be ridiculously good

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:46 (thirteen years ago)

there's something horrifyingly uncanny about alan shearer's head.

Perfect Chicken Forever (Merdeyeux), Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)

"foul mouthed twitter rant"

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

BAN HIM

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

Giroud is I think a much better footballer than Chamakh, better touch, passing/team play, making the right runs. He seems genuinely surprised he hasn't scored more, not dully resigned to underperforming which is a vibe I get off players some time.

boxall, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:49 (thirteen years ago)

better looking too

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:50 (thirteen years ago)

chamakh was dropped fairly hastily iirc, surely he could have been more useful than how it's turned out

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:50 (thirteen years ago)

the interior life of Mark Scholes

Kone appears to be the proverbial handful

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:54 (thirteen years ago)

eh OK but "useful" strikers are for midtable clubs, Bendtner was useful but not good enough for a side that's supposed to want to finish top-2 or make CL semis. It's very strange to me how many generally fine members of the commentariat think that what Arsenal lack are unshowy because mediocre players like Kevin Nolan or Joey Barton.

boxall, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

Looks count imo - tbh I'm not confident that my positivity isn't solely down to him having a little of the air of Davor Suker

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

mark noble tbh

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Saturday, 6 October 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

Giroud, I served with Davor Suker, I knew Davor Suker, Davor Suker was a friend of mine. Giroud, you're no Davor Suker

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:00 (thirteen years ago)

The candidates mentioned to give Arsenal "spine" are usually worse players than the ones that are roundly seen as not good enough for Liverpool - you'd take Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen ahead of those others without question. I know their transfer fees are part of it but if a player's not good enough buying him for 2m is as bad as 12m.

boxall, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:00 (thirteen years ago)

fuvk's sake what doe this arsehole of a ref call a penalty in the everton game

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:02 (thirteen years ago)

Utd should have broken the bank for Baines :(

young carroll's gonna make a belting centre back, mark my words

r|t|c, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:21 (thirteen years ago)

yes, they've "unearthed" the 27 year old Cazorla

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

is it churlish to say it feels like everyone in the media got sent a script from the epl writers saying all this stuff about cazorla

i dont deny he's the business but

r|t|c, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)

You'd like a dissenting view?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:33 (thirteen years ago)

doesn't track back enough

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:34 (thirteen years ago)

you never get the sense he's playing for the jersey

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:36 (thirteen years ago)

Cazorla will have his slump but when you see him do things like that reverse pass to Giroud, what's the point in complaining?

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:36 (thirteen years ago)

no alright idk what i'm saying really

r|t|c, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:39 (thirteen years ago)

cazorla is a straightforward case for pundits, a paradigm case of wengerism (except his age ofc)

ogmor, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:40 (thirteen years ago)

They like the chance to show off by pronouncing it Cathorla. If he'd come over in 2008 it'd have been too soon, they wouldn't have been ready to make that leap.

boxall, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:40 (thirteen years ago)

i actually know what you mean though rtc

Number None, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:41 (thirteen years ago)

it's just like... prepacked or something

r|t|c, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:43 (thirteen years ago)

motson still heroically turns his nose up at cosmopolitan pronounciation

girood, dem'l, cazzorla

r|t|c, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:44 (thirteen years ago)

D.D.A. Drog-bar is still my favourite

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:50 (thirteen years ago)

kinda favour cazzorla over cathorla tbqh

skrill xx (cozen), Sunday, 7 October 2012 00:03 (thirteen years ago)

funniest thing about cazorla imo is the amount of times you hear he's "a find", when he has 40-odd caps for the best international team ever.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 7 October 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

dude's 28 in december, gettin' on is our santi.

Chris, Sunday, 7 October 2012 01:25 (thirteen years ago)

newcastle as favourites today? newcastle are better than spurs in the same way as spurs are better than man u eg mfield and in this tiki-taka world he who controls the mfield controls the game.
