discreet beers or discrete beers

clouds, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 01:54 (thirteen years ago)

Discrete. I was very open about them.

Speaking of being too open, I'm going to have those two posts deleted, just in case.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 01:56 (thirteen years ago)

hmm missed it

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 02:06 (thirteen years ago)

Things Mark K0zelek has done since getting on stage before playing any music: tuned for a long time, "jokingly" demanded the show rep get his jacket from his dressing room because he's "fucking freezing," demanded the a/c be turned off, demanded that people in the front put away their cell phones.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 02:23 (thirteen years ago)

That said he is a pretty impressive singer and guitarist.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 02:26 (thirteen years ago)

those demands don't seem too ott

LL, I think you would like this http://www.publiccollectors.org/. Apparently it's based in Chicago and you can go see the stuff?
yes!!

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 03:13 (thirteen years ago)

they weren't really ott but he was not expressing them in the most polite fashion. anyways it was a good show.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)

What's up Chicagooooooooooooooooooo

La Lechera, I was thinking about DDPP today and thinking I might go back, too. It's mostly because I want to make a playlist of lady MCs, but I will be nice and go to a few dances before I start forcing my music on everybody else. Also I made a workout playlist, just basically songs I like a lot that are fast, and it was hard not to dance on the elliptical machine, which is frowned upon at LPAC.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 00:21 (thirteen years ago)

Aw, some of my favorite nights were at LPAC back in the day, watching The Sopranos and Curb on Sunday nights when they still had HBO and Showtime on the little TVs, before Comcast cracked down on that...

Whoa! That's huge!

Man, I'm decades out from my "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" days but reading that they are going to destroy all the plants made me really angry. It's part bc who cares it's pot! And part bc it's awesome that somebody put a HUGE POT FIELD in the middle of the city and I think they should get to keep it.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

Wow. I don't believe in destroying plants unless they are invasive and/or threatening in some way. These plants are not threatening since apparently they've been there long enough to grow and appear to be well cared for.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 15:08 (thirteen years ago)

does anyone want to play music with me the weekend of oct 13/14? i don't have anything going on with @dvance b@se for a while and i have a hankering to play guitar again. i'd be down with renting a rehearsal space if we're using drums or just at someone's apartment if we're not using drums and want to play at a reasonable volume

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 17:53 (thirteen years ago)

have you been reading my mind? i'm not good at playing anything, but i would try and/or follow instructions!!

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 17:55 (thirteen years ago)

i may have not been the intended audience for that question, but that did not stop me from being a first responder
sorry

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

no we will play music. it'll be cool.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:02 (thirteen years ago)

i have a funny voice modulating toy i can bring, and a little flute, and that keyboard that has gotten embarrassingly dusty in the last year

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:04 (thirteen years ago)

my synth is dusty too! it's been doing some random stuff where it will start flipping through settings when i'm not doing anything and i think it's because there's dust in it. i need to blast it with compressed air i guess.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:07 (thirteen years ago)

I can play an iPad.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

Wait, actually I can't.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

I would be down to play but I'm going to be in Dullyouth for wedding planning shiz.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:29 (thirteen years ago)

Anyone got a good restaurant suggestion in the vicinity of Lincoln Hall? Something for pre-concert eatz.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:36 (thirteen years ago)

Folks who have been to Watershed -- would it be reasonable to go there with a group of 6-8 people on a Tuesday night? I have no idea how big it is.

Sandy Denny Real Estate (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

What time would you arrive? Probably wouldn't be an issue.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:11 (thirteen years ago)

After work.

Sandy Denny Real Estate (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:11 (thirteen years ago)

I'd say no issue then.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

Cool, thanks.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:44 (thirteen years ago)

There are ton of restaurants but I can't think of any recap commendations (auto correct says) except Ido sushi on Halsted.

http://chicagoist.com/2012/10/03/lakeview_residents_complain_pay-wha.php

may as well just build a big wall around the neighborhood then

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 21:50 (thirteen years ago)

God. Shut up Lakeview! I'm down that way a lot and I've noticed to change in the area. Jesse is best qualified to respond, though. He even hangs out in that Panera sometimes.

It's like when the stuffed shirts bitched that The Center brought crime in the form of black (gasp!) gay (gasp!!) or trans (GASP!!!!!!) kids. Bc black kids are all criminals.

Chicago is pissing me off today.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 22:08 (thirteen years ago)

NO change, that should say.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

I've noticed no perceivable changes. I pass Panera all the time and I can barely tell a difference other than the sign.

JFC. I'm writing to Toomey. I hope it stays and I hope (property) crime does increase so the rents don't get out of hand.

And no, I have noticed no fucking increase in shit happening. There have always been panhandlers, alcoholics, and crazy folks around here, and the only ruckus I notice comes from the ding-dongs shambling down the street from Yak-Zie's and Duffy's and tipping over newspaper machines.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Thursday, 4 October 2012 04:38 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah I was gonna say the frathole bars around there have to contribute more than their fair share of chaos to the area.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 4 October 2012 04:48 (thirteen years ago)

Jesus HPV Crap, the CBS story is some shit. CBS OBTAINED THIS PHOTO [photo of a SHOPPING CART* in front of doorway next to Renaldi's pizza] TODAY THAT SAME SPACE NOW HAS A GATE! And another photo, this one of TRASH ON A STOOP**! Is Panera Cares hauling trash to your stoop in a shopping cart? CBS investigates.

Burn down local news studios, IMO.

* I know that very shopping cart. In fact, just last weekend I was telling Courtney about it b/c it kept showing up in various places, always with the same jacket in it. The real story here is the mysterious ghostly shopping cart.

** That stoop is the back door of The Vitamin Shoppe, and it was full of trash, vagrants, and a lot of piss since I first walked by it when I started going to Bally's in 2005 or 2006.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Thursday, 4 October 2012 05:56 (thirteen years ago)

They person who annoys me most near Panara is the keyboard playing guy. Too fucking loud.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 11:35 (thirteen years ago)

Yeh he sucks. It's not just the volume, it's his shitty speakers that buzz at high volumes. I want to have a talk with him.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:42 (thirteen years ago)

I want to steal his keyboard and throw it in the lake. Then pee in the lake.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:43 (thirteen years ago)

Imagine you are coming back from a 20 mile run and have to wait for the light to change and the music is just blaring in your ears. Instant rage.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:45 (thirteen years ago)

Not sure yet I could do music on the 13th/14th, but it sounds fun, especially with the cyclone we came up with last time.

Norah Jones Protest Vote (Eazy), Thursday, 4 October 2012 15:09 (thirteen years ago)

anyone else hear the loud boom at about 10 last night? sarah and i did but i had forgotten about it til now

http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/oct03-loud-boom-5402229/

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't but I was sitting at the intersection of Cicero and 63rd about that time, a 737 flew right over the car while landing and it was pretty loud.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

What was the boom? WHAT WAS THE BOOM?

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:05 (thirteen years ago)

did you hear it? it was only a second or two long but it was very loud and deep, didn't sound like a gun shot or a car crash

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

I heard no boom. I am, however, the boom king.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't hear but I'm now convinces it ripped a hole in the fabric of space time and is slowly but inexorably sucking us into another, hellish dimension or releasing demons that will soon overcome the earth.

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:59 (thirteen years ago)

and here i was thinking it was just a boring boom that i didn't hear or care about
