Will Giuseppe Rossi be back from his injury by January? Think he has what it takes to be a top player and maybe a serious injury will have put off other interested parties. Course it would also be a gamble.

Oof I see his done his cruciate twice on the same knee. Perhaps not then.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:52 (thirteen years ago)

love spurs beating this grim man u side at old trafford. their zombie trudge halted for once.

Ironically I thought the second half was the most exciting United have played for a while.

Mountain Excitement (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:57 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, they were far worse vs Southampton and LFC and they WON those games. Only saw the highlights but was surprised Kagawa was subbed off.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:02 (thirteen years ago)

I think they should sign Ba. He's a bargain.

Rumours today that they are going to try and sign Ozil.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

good luck with that

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

is the money there tho? What happened the austerity of august?

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

downing and enrique should be worth £7m. Maybe.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:23 (thirteen years ago)

santa is bringing them 20m

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:24 (thirteen years ago)

Would Ba necessarily be a bargain? I know he's not exactly popular at Newcastle at the moment but i think his release clause has lapsed.

Temporarily Famous In The Czech Republic (ShariVari), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:24 (thirteen years ago)

I thought that he kinda has a permanent release clause but it can't be activated too late in the transfer window. ie you could buy him on July 20th but not August 20th, Jan 1 but not Jan 31.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)

i like how only one of newcastle's senegalese forwards is permitted to score at any time

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:29 (thirteen years ago)

it fucking pains me to say this cos i love pepe, but i wonder if he might make a cheeky bid for vorm at some point.

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:31 (thirteen years ago)

can we not use the phrase 'cheeky bid' pls

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

cheeky incursion from the lad hitler there, the poles aren't going to like that one bit

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

cheeky refresh

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

cheeky refresh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

lol what's wrong with cheeky bid

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

It's funny how there's still no suggestion of Jones pushing Reina for his place. It's like No.2 Goalkeeper has become this specialised role that doesn't translate into being actual goalkeeper any more than e.g. playing upfront.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:38 (thirteen years ago)

can u imagine daniel levy using the phrase cheeky bid?

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:38 (thirteen years ago)

"a cheeky pint" is the worst. it sounds like innocent smoothie made it up.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:39 (thirteen years ago)

think it maybe depends on the no2, Jones very much has the look of Stuart Taylor to him

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:39 (thirteen years ago)

WWCBNS

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:39 (thirteen years ago)

What Would Chris Bevan Not Say

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:39 (thirteen years ago)

lindegaard has displaced de gea atm, gazzaniga is playing over the english dude

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

lloris and friedel

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

The boy Guzan too, credit to him, he's been patient and bided his time and he's spied somne weakness on the part of Given and he's stepped in and eaten his still-beating heart

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

it kind of depends on how solid and well established the #1 is, and reina has been there for ages

also liverpool have doni right? who was the starting gk for a team who almost won serie a not that long ago

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

apparently doni went back to brazil for some reason, but he's been named in the premier league squad.

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

given has apparently been struggling with injuries since marlon harewood perforated his bowel

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

how long's steve harper been at newcastle

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

perforated bowel injuries marlon harewood has inflicted

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

19 years!

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

not having much luck finding an image of Harewood like shrugging or doing a "eh what are you gonna do" face or something

Sgt. Biscuits, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:47 (thirteen years ago)

tell you what given's got a good strong bowel but marlon has absolutely perforaked it there

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:48 (thirteen years ago)

This does not look like last week's Villa team. It's like they're learning from their mistakes! Can't say that about Villa in several years. The finishing is horrendous, but they keep creating chances and playing well together. Cautiously optimistic about the second half.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 30 September 2012 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

oh bugger. Shoulda kept my mouth shut.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 30 September 2012 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

deserved that equalizer.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 30 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

What happened to Mark Halsey that motd decided we didn't need to look too closely at the Riise penalty?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 20:57 (thirteen years ago)

Gosh that Ba goal! It'll not get the acclaim of rvp against Everton last year because:
- he took it with his leading foot
- he struck it at an oblique angle so it looks more like he was helping it in
- it wasn't right in the corner
but not sure that makes it a worse goal tbh

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:11 (thirteen years ago)

okay, they gave it all of ten seconds, and a replay

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

what kind of fucking defending is that

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

(ah okay, I see the Halsey story now. They could've blamed Riise instead, I dunno)

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:42 (thirteen years ago)

saw the first half of this which was pretty shit

benteke looked awful

vlaar a bit dopy in the highlights

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:46 (thirteen years ago)

gary neville's laugh is great. i'm laughing just thinking about it.

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 22:49 (thirteen years ago)

ah just remembered chris waddle yelling "shoot!" when friedel had the ball and lindegaard was still up for the corner.

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 22:51 (thirteen years ago)

so are nani and ferguson officially at war now or what

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 22:54 (thirteen years ago)

there is no sweeter victory than at old trafford, especially when surrounded by all my united supporting friends. felt like the sickness & doom I get during these games had lifted & I felt gently elated, perhaps I'll be less vitriolic in my bitterness re united in future. we really bossed it first half. vertonghen is great! not sure what the first choice 11 should be now. i've wanted to like avb so i'm very pleased to see him come good.

ogmor, Sunday, 30 September 2012 23:05 (thirteen years ago)

100 otm

vertonghen is looking more and more like the perfect signing, the cb that can surge forward, the epl-level cover at lb. gallas was good yesterday but i've still got huge reservations about him his being in the first XI- i feel he's letting kyle walker down again and again in leaving him marking opposition centre forwards under crosses and long balls. hope to see caulker cement his position in the coming months

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 23:09 (thirteen years ago)

hopefully 2 from caulker, kaboul, and vertonghen will be the cb pair for years and years. vertonghen should be given an improved contract and made captain, imo
