Would Ba necessarily be a bargain? I know he's not exactly popular at Newcastle at the moment but i think his release clause has lapsed.

I thought that he kinda has a permanent release clause but it can't be activated too late in the transfer window. ie you could buy him on July 20th but not August 20th, Jan 1 but not Jan 31.

vertonghen is looking more and more like the perfect signing, the cb that can surge forward, the epl-level cover at lb. gallas was good yesterday but i've still got huge reservations about him his being in the first XI- i feel he's letting kyle walker down again and again in leaving him marking opposition centre forwards under crosses and long balls. hope to see caulker cement his position in the coming months

hopefully 2 from caulker, kaboul, and vertonghen will be the cb pair for years and years. vertonghen should be given an improved contract and made captain, imo
