"the last time Spurs won at Old Trafford 'Jive Bunny' was number one in the charts" - ESPN commentator, during the game

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 29 September 2012 18:32 (thirteen years ago)

Matt have a lie down, close your eyes. When you wake up Spurs will have still beaten Man U at Old Trafford!

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Saturday, 29 September 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

Was AVB still in charge for the 3-3 last year? Because that is a mental trio of games against Utd

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 29 September 2012 18:36 (thirteen years ago)

swanea had 74% possession away at stoke

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Saturday, 29 September 2012 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

Out of contact all day, didn't know we were playin til 77 mins

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Saturday, 29 September 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

that was kinda like the reverse of last week's game, or so i'd like to pretend

r|t|c, Saturday, 29 September 2012 20:05 (thirteen years ago)

I could've done without Chelsea winning today, but the league otherwise taking shape nicely imo. Nobody else moving too far out of reach.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 29 September 2012 20:16 (thirteen years ago)

So chose today for my second game of the season. It was all so lovely for about the first 20-25 minutes. Then our defence... The first goal was mortifyingly awful. The rest were us not coping with Everton's breaking and, well, that Jelavic, he can hit 'em.

I still love Nat Clyne, but by god he's easy to get round the back of. Gazzaniga was pulling off some good saves but was totally at fault for the Everton opener. Ramirez had some nice touches. But not £12m worth. Rodriguez never looked even a tiny bit threatening. I'm worried for the lad. Yoshida had scattered moments of kicking ass. JWP still heartening, and I'll pretty much always adore Lambert and Lallana. Adkins' name was chanted throughout. He's a nutter, but he's our nutter.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 29 September 2012 21:59 (thirteen years ago)

Also I know it's obvious that Fellaini's a fucking beast but BY GOD it should not be legal for any footballer to be that enormous. He was at least twice the size of Steven Davis. Terrifying.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 29 September 2012 22:00 (thirteen years ago)

fletcher's goal was class. ba's first not bad either.

Chris, Saturday, 29 September 2012 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

ba's was a peach!

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Saturday, 29 September 2012 23:56 (thirteen years ago)

not buying motd's possession stats for us v norwich, no way was that 50/50. glad hansen called out the norwich defenders trying to get suarez booked for diving, not that it'll make any difference. noticed riise moaning at tevez too after he'd brought him down.

Chris, Sunday, 30 September 2012 00:02 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i'm all for divers with previous not getting marginal calls but the suarez call today was ridic

riise had some fuckin cheek tho!

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 00:10 (thirteen years ago)

come on dmac we all love a sulky playmaker but you know spurs will never do fuck all continuing to indulge vdv, you've had your fun by now

i mean even adel tracks back these days

win with a batty, drift with a le tiss, such is life

― r|t|c, Thursday, 12 July 2012 10:45 (2 months ago)

i am coming around to this pov maybe? it's all about the energy of sandro/dembele atm

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 00:46 (thirteen years ago)

love spurs beating this grim man u side at old trafford. their zombie trudge halted for once.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 01:00 (thirteen years ago)

and not before time, can remember outplaying them there on more than one occasion. nice to get a ref decision or two today, not before time there either

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 01:04 (thirteen years ago)

rooney was good when he came on, looked v dangerous and incisive imo. good touch.

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 02:11 (thirteen years ago)

fergie embarrassing on injury time, he really has no class whatsoever.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:44 (thirteen years ago)

What did he say? Four mins seemed pretty generous to me.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:47 (thirteen years ago)

no it was "an insult"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19774393

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:49 (thirteen years ago)

that complaint wasn't convincing, firstly cuz they played til abt 94:30, as for 'didn't give us a chance to win the game'.....

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:51 (thirteen years ago)

surely he has the self-awareness to know how ludicrous that bit sounds

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:52 (thirteen years ago)

I like that he considers giving Utd a chance to win the game to be its purpose

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 09:55 (thirteen years ago)

The Manchester United manager has already banned two football writers over reporting, accurately, that Rio Ferdinand would miss the first game of the season at Everton, and another has now been added to the list for noting that Antonio Valencia was on crutches after the game at Liverpool last Saturday.

I do wonder why journalists don't let rip and make up all sorts of shit, when they're just going to lose access over something innocuous anyway.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 10:54 (thirteen years ago)

Fergie can have them sent to the gulags if that happens.

I was on the verge of posting the phrase 'THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT YOU SURREY SCUM' around the time the third Spurs goal went in but I barely had time to finish it by the time we conceded again.

The Spurs midfield totally dominated United for the first half but I think the second half showed what's missing there. United battered us for about 40mins and we lacked composure in midfield for most of the second half. I suppose that's what Moutinho was supposed to be for. We also allowed Scholes way too much time on the ball.

United fans are scared of Dembele, it's quite funny. I think his performance for Fulham earlier in the season caused them some psychological trauma.

Matt DC, Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:09 (thirteen years ago)

That said I'm starting to think that the 2012-13 Spurs midfield might actually be better as a unit than last season's. There just seem to be more options, we don't feel so reliant on one player to pull the strings.

Also Vertonghen is amazing.

Matt DC, Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:20 (thirteen years ago)

Everyone allows Scholes too much time on the ball, I don't get it. He's still great on it, but he can barely move - making your forward stand right on him, or at least have somebody put in a sneaky reducer, seems so obvious every time I see him.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:22 (thirteen years ago)

parker would have been useful in that second half

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:24 (thirteen years ago)

oscar managed to stifle arteta quite well yesterday, and oscar has the build of a 14 yr old

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:25 (thirteen years ago)

oscar did same vs pirlo, he's quite disciplined.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:00 (thirteen years ago)

yeah he has fitted in fairly seamlessly

chelsea quite impressive, i didn't think torres was that great yesterday apart from the goal tho

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:02 (thirteen years ago)

i actually thought his link up play was really good y'day, but he's still not decisive enough in front of goal.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:06 (thirteen years ago)

cash + torres for falcao just looks like it would happen

Au Wazza Balcazar (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:11 (thirteen years ago)

love to see falcao in beast mode in the prem.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:12 (thirteen years ago)

for Liverpool

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:21 (thirteen years ago)

i guess he'd be an option off the bench.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:23 (thirteen years ago)

would give pacheco a rest.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:24 (thirteen years ago)

We've got to sign somebody. I'm now assuming Ba will be in as soon as the window opens again (and injured a week later).

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:32 (thirteen years ago)

Ba doesn't particularly strike me as a Rodgers type player tbh. I'm not really up for us signing anyone who wouldn't still be considered a relatively key squad player in 2 1/2 years time.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:36 (thirteen years ago)

You're adapting quickly. You're probably right anyway, that's just what my subconscious woke up with this morning.

Who would be a Rodgers type, besides Borini?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:46 (thirteen years ago)

Will Giuseppe Rossi be back from his injury by January? Think he has what it takes to be a top player and maybe a serious injury will have put off other interested parties. Course it would also be a gamble.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:51 (thirteen years ago)

Oof I see his done his cruciate twice on the same knee. Perhaps not then.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:52 (thirteen years ago)

love spurs beating this grim man u side at old trafford. their zombie trudge halted for once.

Ironically I thought the second half was the most exciting United have played for a while.

Mountain Excitement (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:57 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, they were far worse vs Southampton and LFC and they WON those games. Only saw the highlights but was surprised Kagawa was subbed off.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:02 (thirteen years ago)

I think they should sign Ba. He's a bargain.

Rumours today that they are going to try and sign Ozil.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

good luck with that

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

is the money there tho? What happened the austerity of august?

Randy Carol (darraghmac), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

downing and enrique should be worth £7m. Maybe.

pandemic, Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:23 (thirteen years ago)

santa is bringing them 20m

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Sunday, 30 September 2012 14:24 (thirteen years ago)

Would Ba necessarily be a bargain? I know he's not exactly popular at Newcastle at the moment but i think his release clause has lapsed.
