His strategy includes luring the president into appearing smug or evasive about his responsibility for the economy.

the preparing-some-zings strategy is pretty tragic. it means the best he can hope for from the debates is a round of applause from the michelle malkins, jonah goldbergs, etc. that is what he's goin' for. make the angry people at least feel like he went to bat for them.

He appears to be the only person who thinks that $10,000 bet idea with Rick Perry was a good idea.

There was a point fairly late in the '08 race when McCain saw the writing on the wall and didn't seem to want it anymore. Romney seems to be approaching that point much more quickly.

Obama: "Governor Romney is promising to close loopholes to balance out the massive loss of revenue his proposed tax cuts will bring about, yet time and again he refuses to be specific as to which loopholes he'll close."

Actually, avoiding anything resembling cogent argument/thought may be a really canny way to appeal to his base.
