(xposts) I can't GIS a photo that I'm certain is Wally, but here's the county chairman if anyone wants to photoshop him in some sordid or unnatural act and spread it around facebook. Just sayin'.

Their facebook photo page is just fucking appalling.

I think it's time to start proposing titles for the successor to this thread.

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

can it involve "kitten mittens" in some way

stop swearing and start windmilling (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

Maybe "THE TRUTH, Binkley, is that you look like a carrot."

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

CNN was covering Obama a few minutes ago (speaking where, I don't know), and he said "I want to export more jobs" when he meant to say products. He corrected himself, then said he was accidentally channeling his opponent. Anyway, look for a new Republican ad within the hour about Obama's secret plan to export more jobs, complete with a 100% factual clip of him saying exactly that.

clemenza, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

*sigh*

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

When will this shit be over

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

Short answer: about 41 days.
Long answer: NEVER.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 22:01 (thirteen years ago)

New title has to mention how great the clouds are.

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

I can't shake the feeling that Romney has a waaaay better shot than we think he has

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

Of course he does.

fyi if anyone cares, the candidates both posted their plans for healthcare in the NEJM:

romney: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1211516?query=TOC

obama: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1211514?query=TOC

have read the romney one so far, and it is vague in the extreme, and full of what my old civics teacher would have called "valence issues" (ie - yes of course everyone wants affordable healthcare, you can say it as many times as you like, everyone agrees...it's the how, part, mittens).

some quotes, chosen semi-randomly:

"Regulation must prevent insurers from discriminating against people with preexisting conditions who maintain continuous coverage."

"Doctors should spend more time treating patients and less time practicing defensive medicine or processing paperwork. Innovators should increase their investments in new cures, and those cures should reach the market faster. Achieving these goals requires medical malpractice reform, a streamlined regulatory framework to support the interoperability of information technology, and strong Food and Drug Administration leadership committed to a practical and predictable approval process that appropriately evaluates risk." first half: no one disagrees with you. second half: malpractice reform might be good but it wouldn't do a whole lot for reducing the cost of healthcare; the only regulatory framework i can imagine that would increase interoperability would be like a) imposing by law one file standard for EMRs and you KNOW that isn't gonna happen under romney or b) throwing some NASA-style money at a gov't-funded, open-source solution to EMRs (ie updating VistA), which also wouldn't happen since it would be the tech version of "a public option"

well if it isn't old 11 cameras simon (gbx), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 23:47 (thirteen years ago)

malpractice reform aint shit but another way they try to push tort limits.

Fiendish Doctor Wu (kingfish), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

"Supporters and detractors alike refer to the law as Obamacare. I don't mind, because I do care. And because of Obamacare we're moving forward toward a health care system that broadly provides health security."

up top, dude

empathy program successfully installed

mookieproof, Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:33 (thirteen years ago)

he is going for some kind of risky campaign approach of trying a little from column a & a little from column b, but it doesn't work because column a is all about how terrible & socialist & dastardly column b is.

let's get the banned back together (schlump), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:39 (thirteen years ago)

complete incoherence is indeed a risky campaign approach

At a recent Colorado rally, country singer Jo Dee Messina crooned to the crowd. To pump them up another notch, she led a rendition of “Happy Birthday” dedicated to Fox News’ Carl Cameron, a darling among conservative voters. Mike Rowe of “Dirty Jobs” came to Ohio equipped with roadkill anecdotes. And based on the “woo-ing” voters, Jack Nicklaus’s mere presence seemed to do the trick.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 27 September 2012 06:54 (thirteen years ago)

Humbly suggest 'Nevermind the polls, look at the clouds' as a thread title.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Thursday, 27 September 2012 07:54 (thirteen years ago)

Speaking of which, more from the Peterman Reality Tour:

(Wary the whole way, I feel at least emboldened enough to make fun of this new Unskewed mania.)

Why does anyone pay attention to anything Dick Morris says or does? He seems like such a dumb troll.
