Hey can anyone tell me why Sprint plans are so much cheaper than AT&T and Verizon? Is there something I'm misunderstanding?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:17 (thirteen years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:17 (thirteen years ago)

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:18 (thirteen years ago)

FYI, got phones for Carl and I yesterday and neither had any scuffs.

Jeff, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:19 (thirteen years ago)

Guys I just used apple maps to go somewhere and i got there.

Also the cache meant I could use it on the underground. Maybe everything will be okay

stet, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 19:27 (thirteen years ago)

what if you only have four rows of icons? :-(

the late great, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

If you live in London you should buy the A-Z app and then you'll have all the offline mapping you need (no directions, mind).

Alba, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 19:33 (thirteen years ago)

yeah I think apple maps is fine when it works, it's just those moments when it doesn't

vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 19:35 (thirteen years ago)

I've been psyching myself up to upgrade, I feel it coming soon

vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 19:36 (thirteen years ago)

Alba otm re the A to Zed. for "directions" i tend to figure out which road i'm on, look at the map, and then figure out which road to turn onto next in order to get where i'm going. call me loco??

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 20:58 (thirteen years ago)

And that sounds cra...wait.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

Tracer - I have a terrible visuo-spatial faculties, so the (old) Maps app drawing a nice little line that shows the whole route is enormously useful in helping me navigate this crazy city on foot without having to stop at every turn (for too long).

Alba, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 23:26 (thirteen years ago)

lol my wife got her phone delivered to her at work today and she hasn't even taken it out of the box yet

I salute her

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:00 (thirteen years ago)

she's waiting for you to *present* it to her and then prostrate yourself in front of it.

jed_, Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

haha

she actually just told me "you can open it when I get home, you're more excited about it than I am" to which I was all "wtf no I'm not" and I'm not because hers is white and I am waiting on the black one

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:10 (thirteen years ago)

did she do the same thing with a macbook air? or am I thinking of my wife?

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:15 (thirteen years ago)

because hers is white and I am waiting on the black one

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:22 (thirteen years ago)

stet, Thursday, 27 September 2012 07:43 (thirteen years ago)

The iOS 6 update just showed up on my iPod Touch this morning. Should I go ahead and I upgrade or are there any issues to consider?

I'm kind of confused about the whole Google Maps hullabaloo. I understand that it isn't built in with the OS, but can't you just get it from the App Store. If that's the case, what's the big deal?

Moodles, Thursday, 27 September 2012 13:46 (thirteen years ago)

You can't just get it from the App Store; it is not a standalone app as of yet. Instead best thing to do is essentially 'bookmark' maps.google.com to the desktop, which you can do in Safari.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 September 2012 13:47 (thirteen years ago)

is that true for YouTube also or is there a downloadable app for it now?

Moodles, Thursday, 27 September 2012 13:48 (thirteen years ago)

There's a Youtube app.

set me on fire RAAAAH (DJP), Thursday, 27 September 2012 13:50 (thirteen years ago)

so other than losing Google Maps, what are the benefits of upgrading on an iPod Touch? Or is it pointless?

Moodles, Thursday, 27 September 2012 13:53 (thirteen years ago)

there are some performance improvements on older iphones, not sure about ipods

At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment.

Tim Cook OTM.

Jeff, Friday, 28 September 2012 13:20 (thirteen years ago)

Google notably not mentioned once.
