btw i have seen some warren ads and they are not great, overall her whole aura could use some upgrading

granted beating a popular incumbent is no mean feat, which she is certainly in position to do, even if he is a republican in massachusetts, but a lot of people have been talking abt her as a presidential candidate and i just do not see it, which is too bad

Warren would be a great senator or representative; I don't think her skill set would be as effective in the executive branch

President Scott Brown would probably be a better governor than he is senator

yeah idk abt warrens skill set or w/e but what makes her a such a compelling presence is that shes willing to express important and popular opinons re crony capitalism that most politicians just wont touch

obvs politicians are by nature conservative and the status quo is by definition behind the times, so i imagine we will be hearing more of this message from other politicians at some point, but still

haven't seen her campaign appearances, although they seem very well populated by a very diverse population based on her Facebook feed

I realized she had a serious shot at winning when my retired neighbor, who has been super Republican for the past 11 years, announced he was volunteering for her and that she was the type of candidate he'd been dying to support

Her ads really hammer home the message of corporations taking advantage of the average person in the name of grossly inflated profits, making life more difficult for people in the state; meanwhile, President Scott Brown has an ad of himself riding around in his truck bragging about how his biggest legislative accomplishment is making it illegal for Congress to use insider information to make money in the stock market.

She's your favorite elementary school teacher given a platform.

She's really the perfect person to run on a platform about crony capitalism* given that that has been teaching classes about it since forever

well as i was saying idk that she actually particularly adept at it, its more just her willingness to talk abt these things at all, not that the ideas are hard to explain particularly, i mean these are things most of the country already believe, but its hard not to come off as a pinko terrorist while youre doing it, which to some extent she does tbh

idk if warren's image trouble is that she's 'not a politician' because i think she's been able to articulate a sort of populist economic position in a pretty compelling way for voters, but in press appearances and debates she can come off as sour and professorial, she can talk policy all day but she's doesn't have the easy male-model-in-a-pick-up-truck appeal of brown (many xposts)

tbh I think the lecturing style works for her, because it's pretty obviously who she is and where she feels comfortable

lol I'm just saying she gets to get away with saying that stuff because she is from Oklahoma originally and when she speaks, she sounds like she is reading you a darling bedtime story about evil corporations sucking the country dry

I hope she wins, but her speech at the DNC made it very obvious to me why she has struggled against Brown: he is very clearly a Massachusetts native through and through, and she is very clearly not. Might not be fair, but I can definitely see why people find Brown more "relatable".

She should reiterate her love of the Boston Celtics at every campaign stop, and to show how Irish she can get, pronounce "Celtic" with a hard 'C'.
