Ha, that reminds me of something one of the old warehouse guys used to say at M&H: "I'm too old a cat to be fucked by a kitten like you."

need to know more about "the warehouse" in this scenario

very sexual album (schlump), Monday, 10 September 2012 03:33 (thirteen years ago)

Ha -- nothing unusual. Grocery wholesaler/distributor. The shirt-and-tie sales guys from the front office, we in the ad department, and the warehouse grunts all shared one break room, so there was more socioeconomic crossover and contact than just about any other job I can think of. In a lot of ways it was the best place I ever worked, even though it was just above minimum wage for me. The "too old a cat" was one of the warehouse guys, and was Tammy Wynette's ex-brother-in-law -- he never had a good word to say about her.

This is from a few weeks ago. When asked if he himself put the words "division, anger, and hate" in a speech he had given, he replies, "Well, of course. The words I use in speeches are words that I craft...or put in there...or agree with."

I love how the story shifts from the ridiculous "supermarket scanner" comparison (oh yeah, nothing's going to suggest a disconnect between Obama and the average American than HIS DIFFICULTY USING A TOUCH SCREEN - "lol, that adult is bad at tech my KID uses! Pathetic!") to the more appropriate, if still negligible, irony re McCain and e-mail.

da croupier, Monday, 10 September 2012 13:20 (thirteen years ago)

The federal government has had employees using blackberrys for years. Obama has been using one for quite awhile.

The photo above of Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. was taken by an Associated Press photographer in Ohio. It is not, as one might reasonably assume, an edited image to go with an article in The Onion.

It is not clear whether Mr. Biden is getting closer to his fictional beer-swilling, chest-baring, bar-fight-starting alter ego dreamed up by the satirical newspaper, or whether images of the real man that seem to reinforce his Joe Everyman character are just getting more popular.

curmudgeon, Monday, 10 September 2012 13:21 (thirteen years ago)

"The New York Times is not sure whether Biden is becoming more like his narrative or we are selectively reporting things that fit his narrative."

da croupier, Monday, 10 September 2012 13:22 (thirteen years ago)

The problem is that the US nuclear arsenal is all powered by an iPhone app that only the president has, so when the bombs start falling, we're basically screwed because he can't "dial it in".

Looks like Romney now insists (and has always said so, he insists again) he likes a couple things about the Affordable Care Act.

the proposals, such as they are, romney has put out on healthcare:

In a new memo, Romney pollster Neil Newhouse argues that “the key numbers in this election are the 43 straight months of 8 percent or higher unemployment, the 23 million Americans struggling to find work, and the 47 million Americans who are on food stamps,” and that any convention bounce will be temporary.

“Don’t get too worked up about the latest polling,” Newhouse wrote. “While some voters will feel a bit of a sugar-high from the conventions, the basic structure of the race has not changed significantly. The reality of the Obama economy will reassert itself as the ultimate downfall of the Obama Presidency, and Mitt Romney will win this race.”

heavy content

goole, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

Why does anyone report on what a pollster hired by a campaign has to say? Seriously, it might as well be his own mother. "Mitt Romney's mother says that her son will most certainly win the election."

Thanks WEBSITE!! (Z S), Monday, 10 September 2012 14:42 (thirteen years ago)

He said she said: "but Obama's sister in law said that Romney doesn't have a chance, pointing to her familial connection to the president as evidence, since she couldn't really say otherwise"

Thanks WEBSITE!! (Z S), Monday, 10 September 2012 14:45 (thirteen years ago)

do not trust the data that historically correlates to the final result. trust this other data that i just made up and only correlates to my feverish hallucinating mind.

Mordy, Monday, 10 September 2012 14:58 (thirteen years ago)

The outcome of this race will ultimately be determined in favor of Governor Romney because he has the better leadership skills, the better record, and the better vision for where he wants to take the country. These advantages are being fueled by the commitment and determination of volunteers and voters to change direction and move our country on a path toward economic growth and job creation. In short, the combination of having the superior candidate, being in a margin-of-error race with an incumbent President, having a cash advantage, and having an unprecedented grassroots effort and a winning message on the economy ensure that Americans will make a change in leadership in Washington on November 6. of a bunch of unscientific stuff.

Mordy, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:02 (thirteen years ago)

I still vividly remember seeing the news the morning of election day 1992, and some senior Bush lackey in a clip saying, "We had four polls yesterday and this morning, and they all show us winning." As if polling the campaign bus counted.

similarly,

http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2012/09/romney-exaggerates-meager-comments-on-afghanistan-135000.html?hp=l5_b1

"I went to the American Legion and spoke with our veterans there, and described my policy as it relates to Afghanistan and other foreign policy and our military. I've been to Afghanistan, and the members of our troops know of my commitment to Afghanistan and to the effort that's going on there. I have some differences on policy with the president. I happen to think those are more important than what word I mention in each speech.”

...

Here's precisely what Romney said to the Legion on Afghanistan: "Of course, we are still at war in Afghanistan. We still have uniformed men and women in conflict, risking their lives just as you once did. How deeply we appreciate their sacrifice. We salute them. We honor them. We respect and love them."

goole, Monday, 10 September 2012 15:42 (thirteen years ago)

Romney's military policy as it relates to Afghanistan would not have been allowed before the repeal of DADT

When Biden entered the diner, he approached three diners seated at a counter and asked if he they'd lend him one of their motorcycles, according to the pool report.

"Can I borrow one of your bikes? They don't let me ride anymore," Biden said.

"Probably not," Jeff Cook, one of the diners, said.

The vice president responded laughing, "Probably not."

Then added, "How 'bout one of your women? Heh heh!"
