Putting together some music for my wedding reception and having to come to terms with saving some time by using some old 192kpbs rips instead of re-repping my CDs at 320.

This is the point in list making that I hate, where suddenly impossible choices have to made. Deciding to leave Ariel Pink out of my top ten was hard enough, now I'm figuring out whether lightning bolt, Oneida, Dial, or Meek Mill gets the shaft on my albums list

SUPER-frustrated that I've been asked to provide my address history for THE LAST 6 YEARS. It's taken me more than an hour to gather the 7+ addresses for this, and the times I lived there. I think tasks like this create extra work for people who choose to be mobile for their personal and professional development. People who move around a lot often do so to fulfill their ambitions, pursue opportunities, and learn more about other parts of the world. Shouldn't society design data capture processes that encourage all these things, rather than "punish" the people who have these attributes?

shouldnt society monitor us even more closely, rather than make people who move around a lot occasionally spend 5 minutes filling out a form??
my biggest takeaway from getting a job right out of college that required a top secret government clearance was "keep track of where you've lived"

― frogbs, Thursday, 11 July 2013 14:30 (ten years ago) link
viewing it as a 'punishment' is what got me... like yes, they designed this form specifically to discourage people from leaving their apartments. all for the sake of saving 45 minutes in filling out a form

i used to have to fill in Criminal Records Bureau forms on the regular because i work with children/vulnerable adults and i felt pretty smug when i'd lived 10 years in the same place and filling the form in got easier
on the other hand i'd rather they didn't let bad people work with vulnerable people so it doesn't seem a big hardship tbh
