im pretty liberal, tho definitely more center compared to morbs and tabes. prob even alfred too. i've considered not voting this year. i still might not. no one i know IRL would do that, tho (except maybe out of rank laziness).

there's certain things that the president or the govt has done that really anger me, but there's also a lot of shitty stuff that i just chalk up to as being "the world" (and out of obama's control, more or less). that last part is probably where i get closer to shakey mo and further from y'all.

actually, j0rdan, i'm pretty close to you on that whole 'the world is shit' thing. it's just that i try to limit my participation in its political processes as a result.

Morbs is at heart a Catholic guy with its attendant rages and paradoxes; it's what makes him so attractive too.

haha I've defined tradition and become more liberal with each passing year. I was so indifferent in 2000 to the Bush crypto-victory.

i never talk about it here but i am increasingly aligned with the T/morbs axis

Overall T/Morbs principles and ideals (to the extent that Morbs ever cogently expresses any) are OTM but there is the problem of People who you agree with but are dicks vs. people who you disagree with but are cool about it

i can't read in bed with my boyfriend it is way too precious

i love reading in bed with the boy. atm he's reading "Close to the Knives" and i'm reading one of Giorgio Agamben's first books. it's kind of really really gay.

a short list of stuff we have read together in bed:

- the introduction to leo bersani's 'homos' (earlier this week)
- the first couple of pages of 'the waves' (i fell asleep but i was really tired that evening)
- a short story about kaspar hauser from some issue of 'conjunctions' i think
- the text of robert ashley's 'the park' (well, i read this, out loud)
- gertrude stein and alice b. toklas' love letters (shut up)

I had a not-fun conversation the other night with my aunt who looked at me like some sort of traitor because I said I was probably voting Green.

I've never dated anyone, including the boy I'm with now, who reads more than texts.

I try not to read in bed too much on account of I'll get too annoyed when I'm interrupted with sex.

My lack of interest in reading books has only surfaced in the last five years or so, but has become by biggest character flaw.

i blame the internet, i've had to battle this myself - when i actually settle down with a book i love it as much as ever but it's hard to commit to, like, an unspecified length of time away from the screen and just by yourself. i think my concentration span, never a forte, is probably like 10 secs at most these days

(also this is why i have such antipathy to kindles etc - reading is the one time of my life i get AWAY from computer screens)

i never thought i'd get one but the sheer amount of online reading i have to do for classes is making an ipad hard to resist. who wants to read 50-plus-page pdf files sitting at a computer desk?

Swans and Xiu Xiu sounds like a perfect bill to me. "Always" is great.

I literally yelped with delight when I read that they were touring together and immediately pulled out my wallet at my desk at work before even looking for tour dates.

Michael Gira seems like a fucking awesome person. I had never read interviews w/ him until recently and he seems like he has lots of artistic integrity and woo woo spiritual ideas, yet at the same time he seems really grounded, reasonable, and pragmatic, and he's funny, too. When I saw him here, he said "I love playing Chicago," gazed out at the crowd, and added, "What a fine looking bunch of Pollacks!"

i'm going to see swans/xiu xiu on my actual bday (tuesday), making this the 2nd time in a year i've seen xiu xiu (after never having seen them at all)

think i might be well enough to continue on with bday observances tonight
