Ah, cool.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 02:47 (thirteen years ago)

Ha, a Lib-CAQ coalition is theoretically possible!

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:20 (thirteen years ago)

without charest having won his seat?

flopson, Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:21 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't say it's likely but constitutionally, that's not a problem at all.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:24 (thirteen years ago)

Afaik, there's nothing that says a PM or premier needs to be a sitting member. (Just double-checked with a constitution nerd.)

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

Seriously, in general, I wish people were more open to the possibilities offered within parliamentarianism. It's so unimaginative that the sitting leader of the party with a plurality of seats always becomes PM/premier and I think it actually undermines parliamentary democracy a little.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

That's more of a post for the Cdn politics thread though.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 03:50 (thirteen years ago)

have you ever had some delicious food ethic or otherwise out somwhere and then you are punished badly in the restroom and you feel as if "why did they do it? "

very sexual album (schlump), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 16:14 (thirteen years ago)

as for me I find the Plant of Egg to be most unpalatable

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 17:28 (thirteen years ago)

awwwww really? i was never crazy about them before. i don't want to suggest user error but i have been detailing my eggplant wiles here if you feel like giving that little guy a second chance, the hell am i gonna do with this eggplant

very sexual album (schlump), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 17:37 (thirteen years ago)

You may as well toss that Solanaceae in the rubbish bin. It would do as well there as anywhere. In fact I am suspicious of the entire Nightshade family, including the Tobbaco plant and Tomato as well. Only the potato has my permission to love itself.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

i do like the small japanese eggplants tho

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:55 (thirteen years ago)

I like eggplant but it has to be cooked correctly, which isn't as intuitive as it should be, so maybe I hate eggplant.

your native bacon (mh), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

eggplant is def a harsh mistress

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

when not done well its gross, but it can be so sublime

i went to the fall apple-themed menu at cabane à sucre au pied de cochon last week and one of the dishes was this aubergine pancake... impossible to describe but fuckin cuhrazypants

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

WHat of the seeds, the seeds? are they not an offense to the mouth?

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 19:19 (thirteen years ago)

i think i have never noticed aubergine seeds

BEHOLD!

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:16 (thirteen years ago)

ha ha. are you sitting at your keyboard running knives over unwanted aubergines getting mad about subpar vegetables? no i mean i'm aware they exist, but like i have never texturally tasted them or felt them interfere with the eating of an aubergine. they just seem fine.

very sexual album (schlump), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

It seesm to me thy tongue is not as sharp and precise as this steel blade or you too would quiver in horror at the granulations!

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:23 (thirteen years ago)

lol

i am quiverin

i just think you need to grill one of these guys, throw it in a sandwich or eat it on toast with mustard, let the good times roll

very sexual album (schlump), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)

The only thing that is rolling is my eyes and my bowels!

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

I bought some of those marinated, grilled eggplant slices you can get at any deli (in this case La Maison des Pâtes Fraîches). I made a basic tomato sauce then threw the eggplant slices in the food processor. Dumped them into the sauce. It was the richest, tastiest pasta sauce I've made in a long time.

I've been trying to replicate this at home by roasting eggplants in the oven. I can't seem to do it. I can't seem to do much of anything with eggplant at the moment.

fields of salmon, Thursday, 6 September 2012 03:29 (thirteen years ago)

if you have a grill, you can grill them until they totally collapse (err on the side of overcooking), then let them cool a bit, peel them and get rid of the juice that leaks out, then chop em up like crazy or blend them, add lemon juice salt pepper tahini, and you got yourself a baba ghanouj.

Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Thursday, 6 September 2012 12:11 (thirteen years ago)

I guess we should make a newthread "HELLISH EGGPLANTS COME ALIVE"

Sweet Yin Yang ☯ (Latham Green), Thursday, 6 September 2012 13:29 (thirteen years ago)

you know just to justify derailing the mtl thread into aubergine territory, i cooked w/a few of the little (japanese? i think they're canadian but i think i've heard the lil baby aubergines called japanese before (maybe itt)) aubs yesterday, grilling them, & they were kind of a little bitter. just putting it out there that, factoring in regional supply variety, ymmv.

would def grill instead of roast, if i were you, fields of salmon; roasted aubergines are amazing to make into sauces but more as a weird smulchy disappearing ingredient than as a solid eggplant component. i slice; salt; sweat for awhile; brush w/olive oil & some spices (smoked paprika/sumac/i haven't found smoked paprika in montreal yet/what is up w that); & then grill for ten minutes, turn over & grill for ten more. getting tahini involved sounds like a real good idea too.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:22 (thirteen years ago)

tho i do like his not-necessarily-Montreal contributions to this thread

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

One activity I can think of that would suck in the rain it trying to build a house of playing cards. Or trying to draw faces on coffee filters with a que-tip and some sort of ochre - tehy would be ruined! mon deiu!

Brony 4 Life (Latham Green), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

tabarnouche! now i really hope it doesn't rain

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:28 (thirteen years ago)

Ta Bouche est tabarnouche!

Brony 4 Life (Latham Green), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:30 (thirteen years ago)

I guess I could plan a trip myself, someday, instead of sending Mr. Green

your naïve bacon (mh), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

You have no need for worry - I do not travel. Ever.

Brony 4 Life (Latham Green), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

Montreal all is probably not that far from you!

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Thursday, 6 September 2012 18:39 (thirteen years ago)
