Shouldn't of got rid of Mick he loves a relegation battle. Wouldn't be surprised if a club picked Mick McCarthy and Terry Conner up they form a nice partnership.

My favorite little monster.

check the name, no caps, boom, i'm (Laurel), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 03:32 (thirteen years ago)

i made a massive, um, error of judgement this weekend and ended up severely upsetting two people i had no wish to upset, thusly hoeing my own row of woe. and i don't think anybody in this troisangle is being wholly sane or reasonable but it has made me look at my own stunted emotional intelligence and think "hey! you're pretty stupid, son".

(side issue of fucking my old man off but he was asking for it, see parent threads passim)

question about when self-absorbity slides over into stupidity and when that curdles into straight fecklessness but fuckit, i got work to concentrate on and a house to get spotless - not that i live in squalor but y'know - so i can move into another nicer house and sobriety to manage and so forth, i dunno, games to play or something

now wd be a good week to get that yurt out on the steppes that i dream about. i shd probably get a quarantine tag or somethink too

on the whole tho today i feel like writing more than doing what i'm paid for and exploring the concept of constructive boredom and also why am i so knackered in the morning when i've been going to bed at a sensible time for weeks?

i read a news story the other day which in a roundabout way reminded me of peter tinniswood's uncle mort dying of a wasting disease and inconveniencing mrs brandon by not supplying a definite death date so she could organise the funeral, so i did an ilx search on pt and many of the results were you praising him:) i loved what i read of him too. i should read more, i only ever read a couple of the carter brandon books and it 's been years and they were so funny.

trawlers tend to be dry these days, tbh. the aul fella often regales me with the tale of leaving a crew (including hull boys) in a late house in prob the faroes and taking the trawler back to ijmuiden with just him, the engineer and iirc the cook. He rang ahead and ordered a new set that new when to not be pissheads, iirc none of the new guys were from hull but two were grimsby lads

the oft-posited third fisherman (darraghmac), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 11:12 (thirteen years ago)

:D

dryness at sea i cd live with. those guys made up for it back at home, "3 day millionaires" was the common term for them, tailored suits, spending large, then back away again

like to drink with a few ex sea-going guys, not so many fishermen round anymore tho

The aforementioned aul fella is a long practiced millionaire of that type, unfortunately the rest of the time he was out we veered from church mice to hungry church mice who needed delousing, still tho lol

everything's "behaviour"

i meant i shd check tbh. there was less than i thought there wd be. glamis has murdered hull. we piss about in the ghost town.

they used to read a lot of cowboy fiction, felt like they was out on the range in the arctic ocean. hence Hull FC's theme tune being "Old Faithful"

also I was chuffed to have got out of having to tek kids to fair this year, I'm far too much of a cooped-up miser to enjoy it.

'...like the 'Sinker', the man who sank the shafts at the Mickley pit,
who thought nothing of being let down on a frosty morning into a
flooded pit up to his chest, baling water into buckets to be drawn up
to the top. To let off steam he saved his wages for a month or so then
headed for the town to blow them all on beer, which called 'lowsening
his skin'.'
