so i got the "what are you doing this weekend" text but what i'm doing this weekend is having a big house party for my birthday and that might be a bit...much? on every level. or it could work? yaaghh.

That's actually an ideal situation for a New Thing. The party atmosphere will prevent awkwardness, you don't have to concentrate on him, and you'll likely end up in bed by the end of the night.

hmm well it's the kind of party where there may not be an end of the night and things might get...messy. well, like the party we hooked up at, i guess, but anyway i've said i'm free on another day and if that goes well he can come to the party if he wants.

I decided to be indulgent today (bought an Aeropress!!) and am at happy hour (half priced cocktails and hummus!) at a restaurant I love and failed to take into acct that we came here on my birthday and now I am sitting alone at this bar two seats down from where we had one of our happiest meals and I actually trying not to cry, how embarrassing is this?

Happy b'day Lex! Sounds like it was a good one.

Before sharing a bed was a regular thing for me, I assumed I'd hate it--used to like to have music on while sleeping and all. But I've gotten used to it to the point where it feels weird whenever I'm not now. If this sounds romantic, it's not really--most nights the puppy sleeps between us.

the b'day itself was good, had dinner w/few friends at a v nice restaurant, the actual b'day party is...now. i am already broken due to aforementioned lack of sleep and it's right now that time just after the start time i put on the facebook invite but some time before anyone actually turns up to house parties ie the time in which i fret no one will turn up

after a birthday last year where everyone treated my shindig as a predrink for some other party, this year was kind of amazing?

twenty plus people crammed into my apartment to drink for four hours and talk and whatever and then we walked four blocks to a big soca/dancehall/afrobeat party - highlight was either Hold Yuh --> Los Rakas, or the random 2 am appearance of Oliver Twist.

the boy skipped the festivities, but it was actually for the best? he would have been overwhelmed and I would have been worried about him having fun, so I just met him at 2:30 for poutine and cuddles.

my engayged friends were in town from vermont, and slept at our place, so that was fun.

we need an ILX gays house party at some point.
